An outspoken critic who believes President Barack Obama's birth certificate is a forgery visited the Hawaii Department of Health on Monday. Dr. Orly Taitz and two document experts were hoping to examine the president's original long-form birth certificate, but their request was denied. Taitz then headed to U.S. District Court.

A Guyana-born American citizen with virtually no political background is asking the Federal Election Commission whether he can run for president of the United States. New York lawyer Abdul Hassan was born in the northern South American country in 1974. Hassan, 37, wants to know whether he can start raising funds as a candidate for president. His advisory opinion request puts the FEC in the rare role of deciding a large constitutional issue that has only a few intersections with campaign finance law.

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — The Baltimore Orioles’ left fielder Luke Scott is at it again. During the offseason, he was critical of President Barack Obama. The president’s long form birth certificate does not seem to have quieted Scott down, though. Scott, who was interviewed by Sam Mellinger of The Kansas City Star, remains skeptical about the president’s background. He thinks Obama’s birth certificate needs to be checked out to confirm that it is legitimate. “[Obama's] birth certificate has yet to be validated,” Scott said Tuesday.

A cargo plane has crashed at an air force base shortly after take-off from Dubai airport, killing two crew members on board, officials say. There were no injuries on the ground and commercial air traffic was not affected, they added. The plane was a Boeing 747 belonging to US company United Parcel Service (UPS).

An uninvited California secretary of state candidate interrupted a Tea Party meeting in Hermosa Beach on Tuesday evening with accusations that her opponent committed voter fraud. The meeting of the South Bay Tea Party was held at the Church of Christ on Aviation Boulevard. The candidate, Orly Taitz, claimed that her opponent, Republican Damon Dunn, was ineligible to run because he had tried to alter his voting record. South Bay Tea Party leader Gary Aven asked Taitz to leave, but she refused.
