Just got one of those texts about a suspicious Amazon purchase - which of course is not actually Amazon. The scam goes, you call the number, their cyber team will "help" you clear the charge. All you need to do is install this app that allows their team to remote control your computer or phone and they'll clear things right up. I don't know if it's because I had a fun weekend, a good night's sleep last night, or just 'cause it is Monday... I'm in the mood to mess with these people some. Sometime today I'm going to grab...

Happened to be stuck in traffic this afternoon with some friends coming back from an event. Bumper to bumper, 4 wide, stop and go. (bad accident) Happen to end up next to a hearse. Look over, and the driver "alone" in the in vehicle, is wearing a mask. I wanted to roll down my window and shout "HE (SHE) IS ALREADY DEAD, YOU DON'T NEED TO WEAR A MASK TO PROTECT HIM/HER!" I mean honestly. The level of insanity I've seen lately... SMDH...

Subtitle this: how not to be a victim Leaving the grocery store a little while ago - went through self checkout. There was a couple of young men, maybe early 20s, loitering around speaking in a foreign language. I didn't even recognize the language, let alone understand what they said. A little odd, given that it was just after five, most people were in a hurry picking up something on their way home from work. As I pushed my cart across the front of the store towards the exit, I heard them about 15 or 20 feet behind me, still...

Just a heads up on a new (to me) scam. Got a robo-call today allegedly from Amazon. Something about suspicious activity on my account. Ok, I pushed the button to talk to a real person. A guy comes on the line and asks if I was purchasing an iPhone 11. I of course said no. (I'm an Android guy) He said fine, the purchase would be denied. (this is a key part of the scam) I had him on speaker phone and went to my Amazon account. There was no record of an iPhone purchase. Now he claimed they had...

With the new carry law going into effect in Texas today you just know there were gun control types wringing their hands, expecting blood in the streets. I haven't heard anything yet, but I'll bet you there were fewer people shot, and fewer people killed in Texas today than in say Chicago.

A local business posted this on social media: Update regarding wearing a mask or not wearing a mask in our facility. Those in our government have ordered all persons entering indoor facilities to wear a mask. If you have a medical condition that prevents you from wearing a mask you are exempt from this order. Due to HIPAA and the fourth amendment we cannot legally ask you about your medical condition. Therefore, if we see without a mask, we will assume you have a medical condition and we will welcome you inside to support our business thank you.

Upside-down "rivers" of warm ocean water may be one of the causes of Antarctica's ice shelves breaking up, leading to a rise in sea levels. But a new study suggests an increase in sea ice may lead to a much more devastating change in the Earth's climate — another ice age.

New data from the Blancco Technology Group (BTG) says that 62 percent of all iOS devices suffered from software failures, compared to 47 percent of Android devices. What's more, 65 percent of iOS devices suffered crashing apps in the third quarter of 2016, more than doubling the 25 percent of Android devices that experienced the same trouble. While BTG didn't dig too deeply into why iOS might be failing more often than Android, it did point a finger at the exceedingly successful augmented reality game Pokémon Go.

For years, people have wondered if Google would merge its Android and Chrome operating systems, and the company has steadfastly held to them important but distinct pieces of its strategy. That might be changing: The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Google has been working for two years to merge Chrome OS and Android.

Something odd happened last Friday and it has been bugging me for a few days now. I needed to pick something up at an address in town. Wife called me (cell phone to cell phone) and read me the address. A few minutes later I happened to be on the computer and went to Google Maps (using Chrome). I started to type the address in, just the first two digits of the four digit street number and up came the list of suggestions...with that exact address as the first one!? WTF? Seriously, there must be a hundred addresses in town...

Note mentions an AK47 as an "assault rifle" when it was really a plain civilian semi-automatic rifle. Also refers to "high capacity clips" when what was really involved was standard capacity magazines.

I'm fed up with the GOP. Lackluster performance the last few years. First they somehow let a relative nobody with no real experience beat them in 2008. Then they limp through 4 years allowing him to grind the Country down. Then they run another unsuccessful campaign against a guy with absolutely nothing going for him. obama had nothing on his record for 4 years - nothing that was a positive. Yet the GOP managed to lose to him and his machine, again. Beating obama in 2012 should've been like shooting fish in a barrel. Now they (the GOP Congress critters)...
