I'm an ex-serviceman and one thing I have been puzzled with is that how can a 38 year veteran only be a bird Colonel. I know he spent a lot of time in the reserves but come on just being a colonel means that he was passed over a bunch of times. Being passed over in the regular Marines would mean a halt to your career. Which looks like what happened here. When some one was passed over it was because no one liked them or they did something the higher ups considered terrible but could not charge him with anything under the UCMJ. I knew of a colonel that was fired because he had an affair with a female Master Sergeant. This was before sexual harassment became a big deal. I wonder....

This comes from a part of the society that measures it's members by where and how many times they were in rehab for drugs and alcohol. It also "measures" their members by how many times they have been married or how many out of wedlock children that have being raised by nannies. So I guess this really does make them experts.

I heard of a interesting statistic. More people die in swimming pool accidents than shooting accidents. Don't see the press sitting around all of the swimming pools waiting for an accident. There are more guns than swimming pools also.

I respect the patriotism of Miss. Renbarger but as a retired member of the Armed Forces and as a First Sergeant my job was to be the expert of the flag to the Squadron. The flag is not displayed properly and should be painted over. The following is an excerpt of the rules for the US Flag. Pay attention to Sec 8b and c

    What is a flag?
This question does not have an obvious answer. Our conclusion is that the flag is that which we recognize to be the flag.

Sec. 8. — Respect for flag
No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.

The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.

The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise.

The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free.

The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free. Bunting of blue, white, and red, always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker's desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general.

The flag should never be fastened, displayed, used, or stored in such a manner as to permit it to be easily torn, soiled, or damaged in any way.

The flag should never be used as a covering for a ceiling.

The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.

The flag should never be used as a receptacle for receiving, holding, carrying, or delivering anything.

The flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever. It should not be embroidered on such articles as cushions or handkerchiefs and the like, printed or otherwise impressed on paper napkins or boxes or anything that is designed for temporary use and discard. Advertising signs should not be fastened to a staff or halyard from which the flag is flown.

No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations. The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing. Therefore, the lapel flag pin being a replica, should be worn on the left lapel near the heart.

The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning
I do not wish to discourage the young one of her sense of duty and honor for our country but the proper display of our most cherished symbol should be the priority.

I was just wondering, if a terrorist organization was found in possession of pictures or video of the traitor sheehan and all that have attached themselves to her, would it be possible for a family that lost their son/daughter to this terrorist group to sue her for inciting the enemy? I would like be on that jury.

I really hope the President and the rest of Republicans refuse to cave in and allow the Demorats to pick the next justice. I would rather the President have a list of 20 with the highest 5 at the end of the list and the most conservatives at the beginning. Start sending them in and after seeing the first demorat objection send the next ultra conservative in, After the first ones are objected to have the republicans call a conference and show the country that the Dems are just a bunch of obstructionist.
