I believe the stance that Obama has taken against Israel will completely backfire in the 2012 elections. The last election in Israel, 75% of Jewish voters who still have their US citizenship voted for McCain, whereas 75% of Jewish voters in America voted for Obama.

  • Obama's Prayer at the Western Wall

"Lord - Protect my family and me, Forgive me my sins, and help me guard against pride and despair. Give me the wisdom to do what is right and just. And make me an instrument of your will."
Wow! What a nice prayer, and how well orchestrated it was printed in the Israeli press -- and then how quickly it disseminated across the globe! What's fascinating is what's BEING IGNORED by the press!

The prayer was leaked to the press BEFORE Obama placed it within the wall! Under threat of a lawsuit, the newspaper that published the prayer -- Ma'ariv -- admitted that it collaborated with the Obama campaign to publish the prayer!

Here's how the story went down. An Israeli lawyer named, Shahar Alon petitioned the Attorney-General Menahem Mazuz on Sunday to order police to open a criminal investigation against Ma'ariv.

Alon claimed the paper violated several clauses of the 1967 Preservation of Holy Sites Law as well as violating rights based on Basic Law - Respect for Man and his Freedom. Furthermore, Alon called for a consumer boycott of the newspaper until it published an apology to Obama.

At first, Ma'ariv tried defending its actions by arguing that since Obama is not a Jew, publishing his note was not an infringement of his privacy.

Then entered Western Wall's Chief Rabbi, Shmuel Rabinovich called Ma'ariv's actions 'sacrilegious'. He said,

"Notes which are placed in the Western Wall are between the person and his Maker; Heaven forbid that one should read them or use them in any way. The custom of placing notes between the stones of the Western Wall is ancient and is used as a means of expression by a person praying to his Creator. This sacrilegious action deserves sharp condemnation and represents a desecration of the holy site."
Under a real threat of a boycott with Rabbi Rabinovich's remarks being published - it was only then that Ma'ariv admitted it had coordinated its publication with the Obama campaign -- even before Obama had put it on the wall!

Ha'aretz published today, "Obama's note was published in Maariv and other international publications following his authorization to make the content of the note public. Obama submitted a copy of the note to media outlets when he left his hotel in Jerusalem."

Amazing - it's been substantiated by other newspapers that the Obama campaign released the prayer to the media!

I believe this may be the first presidential campaign press release addressed to God instead of the voters!

  • Analysis:Israel’s Debate Over an Iran Strike

    07/26/2008 4:49:56 AM PDT · 1 of 3
    WorthyNews
In today’s edition of Time, there was an interesting analysis of the potential problems of an Israeli strike on Iran. It was co-written by Aaron Klein, the Jerusalem bureau chief of World Net Daily. For those who've not been following Aaron, he has great insight in the Middle East being one of the few journalists that routinely interviews top level terrorists as well as high ranking officials throughout the region. For now, I'm going to analyze just a few of the provocative statements within the article.
One top Israeli military planner privy to Israel's discussions with the U.S. on Iran, "We were under the illusion during Bush's last visit that he was much more determined to order a military action." No longer.
According to this statement, it appears a strike was definitely being planned, and suddenly it's been taken off the table by the Americans.
Last week's U-turn, in which the Bush Administration sent a high-ranking State Department official to join the European delegation meeting Iran's top nuclear negotiator...so dismayed were the Israelis by the latest U.S. moves, one military source told TIME, that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert wrote to Bush complaining that Israel should have been forewarned about the White House's abrupt change of course towards Iran.
When I first read this change of action by the Bush administration, it led me to believe that the U.S. wanted to at least show it's willingness to negotiate with Iran...so if there was a future strike on Iran...the President could say, we exhausted every means possible before this tough decision was made. Now the question is: Are the Israelis are playing the game with the Americans? Or were they were truly blind sided?
A top former officer from Mossad, the Israeli equivalent of the CIA, told TIME that Israel is mindful that an air strike on Iran would jolt the U.S. presidential election — probably rebounding badly on Republican contender Senator John McCain. Sources say that Israel sees a narrow "window of opportunity" for military action opening up between November and the swearing-in of the new American president next January. "No Israel leader wants to be blamed for destroying the Republican chances," says the former Mossad officer. Source: Time
For quite some time, I've been wondering how Olmert continues to stay in power with so many scandals that surround him?

Why doesn't Benjamin Netanyahu attack Olmert when he's so vulnerable? Could it be that Netanyahu's connections inside the military, being the former PM, are informing him of a pending strike on Iran? If this were the case -- then it makes sense why Bibi is reluctant. Nobody in Israel wants to be in the midst of a transition government when a major military action is being taken -- especially one that has the potential to explode into WWIII -- no matter how weak Olmert is. Could this be the reason he's not assailing Olmert and trying to take down the coalition government?

I'll be carefully watching the return of Israeli Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi from Washington. When he returns and IF the coalition government falls apart within the next two weeks -- this would be an indicator of a postponement of any military action. The dissolution of the Israeli government now, would allow a stronger government to be formed. The new elections would likely take place during November and rising to power would be either: Benjamin Netanyahu, Ehud Barak, or Tzipi Livni.

If the collapse of the Israeli government were to occur now, then it would lead me to believe a potential Israeli attack on Iran has changed from late this summer to the narrow window of opportunity between November and January.

However, the problem remains -- when will the nuclear reactor start in Bushehr? I still consider this to be the deadline of an Israeli strike.

  • Is this the beginning of another Cold War?

    07/23/2008 3:11:50 AM PDT · 1 of 15
    WorthyNews
Suddenly within the past month, it feels like we’re returning to the Cold War. It’s obvious that the Russians are quite annoyed by the attempts of the U.S. deploying a missile shield in Eastern Europe — the former backyard of the Russians.

The Czech Republic, a former Cold War ally of Russia, signed an agreement to deploy U.S. radar stations south of Prague. These radar installations are to be incorporated in the future with interceptor missile systems based in Poland — another former Cold War ally of Russia. The deployment of a U.S. missile shield in Eastern Europe is striking the nerve of Russia. And my guess, it’s ticking Putin off!

Let’s not forget that Putin was the former head of the KGB, and though he’s supposedly not running the “show” — it’s quite obvious he’s still the major player in Russia. So what’s the Russian response to these moves by the United States?

On June 26th, the Washington Times reported that Russian bombers are increasing their provocative bomber flights near the Alaskan coastline designed to rattle U.S. Air Defense. Let’s not forget last year, the Russians buzzed an aircraft carrier, the U.S.S. Nimitz, in the Pacific.

The Washington Post reported yesterday, “Russian bombers capable of carrying nuclear weapons could be deployed to Cuba in response to U.S. plans to install a missile defense system in Eastern Europe.” - Source: Washington Post

Hugo Chavez, the Venezuelan leader, after pushing Exxon-Mobil out of Venezuela in February, signed oil agreements with Russia’s oil companies: Gazprom, Lukoil and TNK-BP. In addition to these agreements, he signed agreements allowing the Venezuelans to purchase $2 billion in weapons from the Russians.

After their toes were stepped on in the Eastern hemisphere, they’re returning the favor in the Western hemisphere as the saber rattles in Alaska, Cuba, and Venezuela. Just when you thought the Russian bear was dead a few years ago — today we see it sharpening its claws!

  • Iran Confrontation Coming…

Wasn’t the 1981 Osirak bombing pretty widely condemned at the time, even by the US and the UN? See UNSC 487 for details.
In the Reagan diaries, the President wasn't consulted by Begin or the Israelis -- although the State Dept knew of the threat beforehand and consulted with the President. The Carter Admin. never informed Reagan of the situation - it wasn't until a week later that they found memos at the State Dept from the Carter Admin.
There is nothing “civilised” about the manner in which Israel engages its enemies.
The civility I'm referring is to the fact that Israel doesn't target civilians unlike terrorists.

Israel is interested in survival -- and it'll do whatever it takes to survive -- don't forget this is a nation birthed out of the holocaust, it's not going to lie down and let itself be destroyed.

I'm sure throughout Israel, people will be tuning in to see British Prime Minister Brown address the Knesset. When President Bush spoke just over a month ago, it was widely watched and his speech was read throughout the nation. As the leaders of the civilized world come to a realization that you cannot negotiate with radical Islam -- then you know a storm is brewing.

When I spoke throughout the United States this past year, I pointed out the time line I'm watching. The key to when a strike very well could occur hinges on when the nuclear power plant in Bushehr is coming online. According to Russian nuclear agency chief Sergei Kiriyenko the reactor will be started this autumn. If this reactor in Iran is online and running...then Israel will not be able to destroy it without causing a huge fallout.

In 1981, when Begin destroyed the nuclear reactor in Iraq -- his reasoning to Ronald Reagan (according to Ronald Reagan Diaries) was the fact the reactor needed to be destroyed before they received plutonium from the French. Begin was extremely concerned of radiation being spread and the potential of it carrying into Baghdad.

When you understand that Israel wages war in a civilized manner against its enemies trying to minimize any friendly causalities -- then you understand its concern about causing a nuclear fallout by striking an operational nuclear power plant. So the key to when Israel will strike ... is how close are they to starting the reactor in Bushehr.

According to Paul Leventhal of the Nuclear Control Institute, if Iran were to withdraw from the Nonproliferation Treaty and renounce the agreement with Russia, the Bushehr reactor could produce a quarter ton of plutonium per year, which Leventhal says is enough for at least 30 atomic bombs. - Source: Global Security.

When a nation is birthed out of the holocaust...it truly understands the evil it faces -- while the world is just starting to get it.

  • Iran does not expect Israeli or U.S. attack

This can only be good news, because if Israel were to attack -- then it wants to attack with the element of surprise! The philosophy in the Israeli military is simply this -- if you're bold and daring enough to do it, then you'll succeed. For example in years past, the raid on Entebbe, as well as the successful attacks on the Iraq and Syrian nuclear reactors.

As far as the meeting in Geneva, what seems puzzling to many Washington Insiders is President Bush's change of stance sending William Burns, the undersecretary of state for political affairs, to open diplomatic relations with Iran despite the fact they've not stopped enriching uranium which has been a longstanding precondition laid by the administration before any diplomatic talks begin.

When the talks fail, and if the call for a tactical strike on Iran is given -- then it can be said -- we tried to even means of diplomacy before the war started.

As we continue to see the escalation of rhetoric language by Iran, Israel and the United States this buried story sends a message to the reality of war for Israelis.

Another interesting story related to this whole issue is President Bush's change of stance sending William Burns, the undersecretary of state for political affairs, to open diplomatic relations with Iran despite the fact they've not stopped enriching uranium which has been a longstanding precondition laid by the administration before any diplomatic talks begin.
