  • Evidence of Selection Bias involving Firearms at the Center for Disease Control

The scientists at the Centers for Disease Control have shown their prejudice against firearms ownership once again. They have done so with selection bias and word manipulation. Scientists are supposed to evaluate factual information to arrive at testable theories about objective reality. A problem for all scientists is selection bias.  Scientists, as with nearly all humans, are more likely to include data that bolsters their pre-conceptions, and exclude data that refutes their theories. The CDC has committed both errors in their National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS). It takes self discipline and self examination to fight against selection bias....
  • Two health scares at US airports tied to Mecca pilgrims

    09/08/2018 8:13:50 AM PDT · by BenLurkin · 13 replies
Ten people were tested for a battery of respiratory viruses and bacteria in hopes of ruling out serious pathogens that could present a public health threat. Two of them tested positive for an especially virulent type of influenza A virus, and one of the two, who was gravely ill with pneumonia, was co-infected with another respiratory virus, Cetron said. A third person tested positive for a cold virus. All three had taken part in the Haj, which this year drew 2 million people to Mecca, Cetron said. Seven crew members, who boarded the flight in Dubai and were not at...

Federal health officials met a plane landing Wednesday at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York after passengers reported feeling ill, according to sources. Emirates Flight 203, which originated in Dubai, was carrying more than 500 passengers and landed around 9:06 a.m. ET, a source with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said. All passengers were screened, the airline said, and three passengers and seven crew members were transported to a hospital for treatment and evaluation. "I asked the (flight attendant) for a mask before we even took off, but there was none available," passenger Erin...

Sexually transmitted diseases are on the rise in America, according to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In fact, nearly 2.3 million cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis were diagnosed in the U.S. in 2017, surpassing the record set in 2016 by more than 200,000, CDC scientists reported Tuesday. Experts say many factors have contributed to the rapid rise, though the biggest one may be less frequent condom use. It’s less clear whether dating apps, like Tinder, have contributed in some way to the spread of STDs, though some researchers think they have. “We have seen...

Sexually-transmitted diseases continue to hit all-time highs in the U.S. with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reporting a 10 percent spike for chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis in 2017. The federal health agency said in a report released Tuesday that the numbers, which include nearly 2.3 million new cases of the aforementioned diseases, reflect a “steep, sustained increase” in STDs since 2013. “We’re sliding backward,” Jonathan Mermin, director of CDC’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD and TB Prevention, said. “It is evident the systems that identify, treat and ultimately prevent STDs are strained to near-breaking point.”...

Tom Frieden, former head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, was arrested Friday in New York amid allegations he groped a woman in his apartment. According to New York Police Department, he was charged with forcible touching, sexual abuse and harassment after he inappropriately touched a woman in October 2017. The woman reported the incident in July, police said. It is unclear if he has an attorney. He is expected to appear in court later Friday. Frieden was the CDC director from 2009 to 2017, leading the agency during the Ebola epidemic. Prior to that, he served as...

In 2015, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) made an error in the number of fatal firearms accidents that occurred in 2014. It was so large, it was obvious. The number of fatal firearm accidents had been falling significantly. In 2014, they suddenly and inexplicably jumped by over 25%. Most of the increase was in one state, Tennessee. Dr. John Lott noticed the error in January of 2016, and brought it to the attention of the CDC. From crimeresearch.org: In January 2016, Dr. John Lott contacted the CDC to alert them to a mistake in their numbers for 2014...

Live poultry in backyard flocks are linked to several multistate outbreaks of salmonella infections that have now sickened 212 people in 44 states, federal health officials warned Monday. The most recent illnesses began on June 21, with 88 of the cases reported in the last month, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC, said in an advisory. The federal agency is working with multiple states in investigating several outbreaks of salmonella infections linked to contact with live poultry in backyard flocks, it said. A half-dozen strains of salmonella bacteria have sickened people starting in the middle of February,...

“It’s highly contagious, so it would appear that there’s a human element there, that somebody had it and was at the beach,” said Bob Peabody, Bridgton's town manager. “I think the message is, if you’re sick or your children are sick, don’t go to the beach,” he added. The beach had already closed on July 6 after several people became ill with abdominal symptoms, but reopened on July 10. Tests performed then showed acceptable levels of E. coli in the lake but not in water from two bathroom sinks. The sinks have since been removed and replaced with hand sanitizers.

In the days leading up to the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion in America, pro-choice advocates claimed hundreds of thousands of women had died from illegal abortions. Because of this, several lawmakers voted to decriminalize abortion prior to Roe, and even today, some lawmakers are hesitant to outlaw it because of this lie. These statistics were invented by the same people who would profit from the procedure’s legalization. False Claim #1: 5,000-10,000 women died annual from illegal abortion before Roe. FACT: These statistics were made up. The real number was a mere fraction of this. Abortionist Bernard...

"Think about trying to live today on the income you had 15 years ago." That's how agriculture expert Chris Hurt describes the plight facing U.S. farmers today. The unequal economy that's emerged over the past decade, combined with patchy access to health care in rural areas, have had a severe impact on the people growing America's food. Recent data shows just how much. Farmers are dying by suicide at a higher rate than any other occupational group, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The suicide rate in the field of farming, fishing and forestry is 84.5...

Since late summer 2016, hepatitis A has had an increased presence across the United States. While San Diego’s hepatitis A outbreak caused headlines in 2017, the disease isn’t just contained to Southern California. So far in 2018, seven states reported cases of the food and water-borne disease. Among those states, Utah, Michigan and Kentucky reported the most cases. Hepatitis A is a virus that attacks the liver and causes jaundice. Once infected, the disease can cause nausea, vomiting, fatigue, fever, loss of appetite, and abdominal pain. It is extremely contagious and usually spread through unsanitary food and water. On rare...

Just days after the tragic death of fashion icon Kate Spade, new government research sheds light on a disturbing increase in suicides in the United States. The report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that suicide rates have risen dramatically across most of the country in the past three decades. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S. and is one of just three leading causes that are on the rise. The rate of suicide in the U.S. rose nearly 30 percent between 1999 and 2016. In 2016, nearly 45,000 Americans age 10 or...

Recently, Ron Bassilian discovered the US Center for Disease Control was diverting taxpayer dollars, at least $3 million, to a local liberal group to far left campaigns... A friend of mine had a similar college life to me, he went on to do political advocacy and I went on to the private sector. So imagine my pleasant surprise when we find each other on Facebook a couple years ago, and I found out he gets a large check to start his Community Coalition center in South Central Los Angeles. My memory recalls it at $750,000. That must be nice, I...

he teenagers tucked their hands into their sweatshirt pockets as they shuffled to form a circle. Some gazed at the asphalt, trying to avoid the game they had been drafted to play. “It’s like hot potato/musical chairs, but with a penis,” said the girl leading the group. The kids gathered on a spring morning in South Los Angeles were about to get a hands-on lesson in sex education. Many health experts say that public health problems are best tackled outside the doctor’s office — that fixing the culture that perpetuates them is more effective than changing a single patient’s behavior....
