As I write this, Barack Obama's gal-pal Gloria Allred and the Boston Globe have aligned themselves with the Chicago Machine in a partisan crusade to launch an October Surprise against Mitt Romney. That we all know. What you might not know is that Allred's client, Maureen Sullivan, the woman pushing to unseal the gag order on her own divorce records, is a embittered leftie, a Huffington Post "Super User," and a vicious anti-Mormon bigot. For what's obviously a manufactured reason, Sullivan blames Mitt Romney for a divorce settlement she received during the early-nineties. Time's Mark Halperin reports that while he...

Federal authorities say they intend to file a lawsuit against Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio and his department over allegations of civil rights violations.

President Obama preemptively slammed the Supreme Court as a bunch of "unelected group of people" who will have turned to "judicial activism or a lack of judicial restraint" if they decide to strike down his signature legislative achievement, the healthcare reform act. Obama was speaking at a trilateral event with the Prime Minister of Canada and President of Mexico. Obama touted the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, as "a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically-elected Congress."

A video of President Barack Obama filmed in the White House and included in a fundraising e-mail sent to supporters is not legal, two election law experts told CNSNews.com. The video was included in an e-mail sent to supporters of President Obama promoting a fundraising drive that offered participants a chance to win an invitation to dinner with Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. The video was filmed in the White House and, because it is intended to raise funds, constitutes a violation of federal law, according to two election law experts contacted by CNSNews.com. “I think this is a...

...the trip is already provoking disappointment from Africa advocates who argue that President Obama, whose father was Kenyan, hasn't devoted enough time to the continent since winning the presidency. Mwiza Munthali, public outreach director of TransAfrica Forum, argues that U.S. officials "are not seeing Africa as a big priority. There has been some ambivalence." The president has made just one trip to sub-Saharan Africa since his Jan. 2009 inauguration and has chosen not to accompany his wife on her journey. This isn't the first time the First Lady has come under fire for travel plans. Below we review some of...

Like most people, I had discarded the issue about President Obama's birth certificate long ago as without merit. Recently, though, possible Republican presidential contender Donald Trump has renewed public interest in the matter, and so I decided to take a second look. While Trump is mistaken in some particulars, to my surprise, the matter turns out to be more complicated than I originally thought. Obama defenders say that the he did release his birth certificate, making the entire argument moot. That is true ... sort of. In June 2008, the Obama campaign released of a "certification of live birth," which...

First, I would like to send my condolences to everyone who has been affected by the senseless act of violence perpetrated on Saturday in Tucson, Arizona. I was not going to write anything about what happened, but after seeing the way the left spent the last few days attempting to smear those of us on the right of being guilty for this tragedy, I have decided to break my silence. Throughout history, politicians have taken advantage of tragedies to increase their power or to destroy their opponents. Sometimes they will even create a tragedy to smear their opponents or...

"The president is making phone calls saying 'this is the end' of his presidency if he doesn't get this bad deal," Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Oregon) told CNN. "I don't feel that way. I think this is potentially the end of his possibility of getting reelected if he gets this deal," DeFazio added.

The United States is no longer in the Top 20 of the world’s “least corrupt nations,”according to Transparency International a Berlin based group that calls itself “the global civil society organization leading the fight against corruption.” The United States fell to 22nd on the list from 19th last year, with its score on TI’s list dropping to 7.1 from 7.5 in the 178-nation index due mainly to financial scandals and the influence of money in U.S. politics. The score is based on independent surveys on corruption. The U.S.’s score of 7.1 this year was the lowest score awarded to the...

After a closed-door, pre-event meeting between Rep Melissa Bean (D) IL-8 and staff of the Round Lake Area Public Library, a man alleged to be the hulking head of library security repeatedly took an intimidating stance, standing over questioners who raised controversial issues. Other library management attempted to dissuade an attendee from video taping what was purportedly a public townhall event. Rather than stop the intimidation, Bean appeared rather pleased with it based upon her smiling acknowledgment. Rep. Melissa Bean has a troubling history involving townhalls. She's also one of a few Democrats uninterested in disbursing Charlie Rangel cash to...

Rep. Joe Sestak , a Pennsylvania Democrat, says the White House dangled a federal job in front of him to convince him to drop his primary challenge against incumbent Arlen Specter, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Friday. Apparently it was an offer he could refuse. Rep. Joe Sestak, who is causing heartburn for Democratic leaders by running against Arlen Specter for a Senate nomination in Pennsylvania, says the White House dangled a federal job in front of him in an attempt to entice him to drop out of the state's Democratic primary, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Friday.

It's a good bet that the conversation in the Supreme Court break room the morning after the president's State of the Union speech was about Obama's drive-by distortion of its ruling in Citizens United v. FEC. Predictably, the spin at The Washington Post and Chicago Tribune was "Alito Disparages Obama's Supreme Court Criticism." Where else but in the Bizarro World of Obama's branch offices at the Post, Trib, and MS-NBC could we find such a polar opposite version of "reality"? Like their champion, these media corporations are extremely vexed that the Court leveled the playing field for all corporations and...

Almost a year has passed since January 20, 2009 -- when the waters of the ocean no longer rose and America began to heal from the depredations of Republicans. Barack Obama has been our president for that long, and the people have started to wise up. The light that shines on Barack Obama as president has reflected back an image that bears very little similarity to the iconic visage that floated above us all in 2008. Why has Barack Obama betrayed so many allies, broken so many promises, thrown so many pledges and people under the bus? One simple aphorism...

As usual, Mark Steyn nails it in this Investor's Business Daily editorial, as only Steyn can do. Steyn points out what should be obvious, but hasn't been articulated or emphasized often enough, which is, Obama's enemies are all American citizens (FOX News, Rush Limbaugh, Oil Industry, Insurance Industry, Tea Party participants, doctors, drug companies, Wall Street, bankers, etc.). He has no problem with, and his door is always open to, the true foreign enemies of America and freedom, like Ahmadinejad, Kim Jong Il, Chavez, and Castro (also: they are publicly both fond of him and his policies). It's sadly ironic...

U.S. first lady Michelle Obama has a message for other countries seeking to host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games: in the fight the "gloves are off." The Chicago native heads to Copenhagen this week to promote her hometown in its bid to stage the Summer Olympics, paving the way for her husband, President Barack Obama, who will make a quick trip to Denmark on Friday to try to seal the deal. "This is very cool for me," the first lady told reporters in a rare briefing in the White House's state dining room on Monday. "I could've never imagined that...

Two sources with knowledge of the situation told the Tribune today they have been notified that Christopher Kelly, a key figure in the federal corruption probe into former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, is dead. The Cook County medical examiner’s office today confirmed that a body identified as Christopher Kelly was brought to the morgue from Stroger Hospital. The office would not provide any details, including his age, address and manner of death, because the family had not yet arrived at the office. Kelly’s attorney, Michael Monico, declined to comment today when reached by a Tribune reporter. Kelly is a former confidant...
