Jimmy Kimmel Live: Back to Brooklyn -- Chris Rock - Message for White Voters
-
Dangerous and chaotic scenes rock cities on big holiday While most Americans were commemorating the nation’s birthday, racial violence, lawlessness and animosity marred Independence Day celebrations in Georgia, Florida, Ohio, California and Illinois. Chris Rock started the day off with a bang: “Happy white peoples Independence Day,” he tweeted. “The slaves weren’t free but I’m sure they enjoyed fireworks.” In Chicago, Ill., some were enjoying the celebration until they were set upon by a mob of dozens of black people intent on violence. One man was taken to the hospital, where he remains in good condition. Eleven black people were...

Twitter was filled with patriotic declarations, pictures of fireworks and descriptions of highly-caloric barbeques on the Fourth of July. For a few celebrities, however, the day served only as a reminder of past injustices. Comedian Chris Rock, followed by actors Don Cheadle and Zach Braff, brought the unsaid racial tensions of the country to the front burner by reminding his followers that slavery continued for many years after the Declaration of Independence was signed.

Still carrying a grudge against a country that has made Chris Rock wealthy and famous way beyond where his waning talents should've taken him, this was how the once-interesting and once-edgy comedian celebrated the 4th of July on Twitter today:

The New York Times bestselling author of the explosive new book, Hollywood Hypocrites: The Devastating Truth About Obama’s Biggest Backers, Jason Mattera, had his crew’s camera snatched and hurled by comedian Chris Rock when he asked the star why he has called the Tea Party racist.

Chris Rock apparently doesn’t care whether he’s invited to President Obama’s next birthday party. The comedian used Obama’s 50th birthday bash as material for a surprise stand-up appearance at the Comedy Store club in Los Angeles this weekend. Saying he felt like “he died and went black heaven,” Rock shared a few details about the August birthday party, which was closed to the media. The informal barbecue at the White House was paid for by the Obamas, according to the Washington Post, and featured a celebrity-heavy guest list including Jay-Z, Tom Hanks and Whoopi Goldberg. While Rock called the party...

“There’s a f——— art to the first term because you’re always running for a second term the whole time. It’s like Clinton’s first term. You can’t really do your gangsta sh— until your second term. … Even Bush couldn’t really f—- up the world until his second term. That’s when he put the hammer down.”

Some celebrities may have soured a bit on President Barack Obama, but not Chris Rock. The comedian and actor told fellow comedian Marc Maron on the “WTF with Marc Maron” podcast that he’s “fine with the president,” if only because he understands that the president has to keep his most aggressive policies on the back burner until he earns a second term. “There’s a f——— art to the first term because you’re always running for a second term the whole time. It’s like Clinton’s first term. You can’t really do your gangsta sh— until your second term. … Even Bush...

At a show in Nashville last week, Tracy Morgan said "being gay is a choice," if his son were gay he would "stab him," and that gay kids who are bullied "should stop whining about it." Morgan apologized for his remarks — "I'm not a hateful person and don't condone any kind of violence against others" — and 30 Rock's Tina Fey and gay NBC head Robert Greenblatt called Morgan's rant "disturbing." Now more celebrities and talking heads are reacting. We've rounded up many of the responses.

In the March issue of Esquire, comedian Chris Rock takes a swing at the tea party. Rock is interviewed by writer Scott Raab. "Like many nice Caucasians, I cried the night Barack Obama was elected," said Raab. "It was one of the high points in American history. And all that’s happened since the election is just a sh—storm of hatred. You want to weigh in on that?" "I actually like it, in the sense that—you got kids?" asked Rock. "Kids always act up the most before they go to sleep. And when I see the Tea Party and all this...

Hat tip to Big Hollywood Oh how the mighty have fallen. Chris Rock used to be such an inventive comedian with bits that straddled the fence politically. His first two major comedy specials — Bring the Pain and Bigger and Blacker — were from the Clinton era and are classics of ’90s comedy. Yet his two efforts from the last ten years — Never Scared and Kill the Messenger — both mostly abandoned his political heterodoxy in exchange for unoriginal Bush-bashing and wild-eyed Obama sycophancy. Apart from the politics neither were as funny as his first two efforts. Perhaps because...

Noting that “President Bush has f----- everything up so much, he’s even made it hard for a white man to become president!,” Rock became the voice of the electorate: “‘Give me a black man, a white woman, a giraffe, a zebra, a mongoose ... anything else!” He goofed on people’s perceptions of Barack Obama’s name (“Like he should have his foot on a dead lion, holding a spear!”) and their fears about Hillary Clinton’s gender (on the wrong day of the month, she could bomb North Carolina). Running through all the (mis)conceptions, the rail-thin Rock often showed a side of...

A conservative comedian [yes, there are some], appears at a venue in a heavily-white suburb at a campaign event for a white candidate and tells his audience composed overwhelmingly of people of pallor they'd be embarrassed if they supported a black candidate and the white candidate won, saying "Oh no. I can't call him now. I had that black guy. What was I thinking?" What are the odds the MSM would laugh it off? But when Chris Rock does the equivalent on behalf of Barack Obama, the MSM appears to raise nary an eyebrow. Rock appeared last night at an...

When LIFE asked comic Chris Rock if America is ready for an African American president, Rock tells LIFE: “It’s ready for a retarded president, why wouldn’t it be ready for an African American president?” Of the current presidential contenders, Rock says, “I like Al Gore, actually. (A) He’s more qualified than everyone that’s running on the Democratic side. (B) If he won or didn’t win, he has an agenda to help people and make this a better world...” Rock tells LIFE: “Maybe Barack will win, but I probably won’t see a black president. There’s real equality when you don’t notice...

Justin Stephens for The New York TimesChris Rock. What makes someone funny? That’s not funny. You want to know what’s not funny? Thinking about it. What is comedy? I don’t know. How would I know? Any episode of “South Park” is funnier than 90 percent of the comedy produced in any given year — movie, TV, just any episode of “South Park” is generally the funniest thing put out that year. What films have you seen recently that made you laugh? I liked “Talladega Nights.” I think Will Ferrell is clicking. Vince Vaughn is the funniest guy I have...

The Rev. Al Sharpton is due in South Carolina today to stand up for comic Chris Rock's mama. Rose Rock, who helped inspire Rock's sitcom, "Everybody Hates Chris," has called in the Rev to demonstrate outside a Cracker Barrel restaurant where she alleges staffers ignored her. Mrs. Rock says that, for more than 30 minutes after she and her 21-year-old daughter sat down at a Cracker Barrel in Murrells Inlet, S.C., in April, no one would take their order. She says they were the only black customers. After she complained about the wait, she says, the manager offered to comp...

The disclosure adds the biggest celebrity name thus far to the list of people whom Pellicano purportedly sought to help by intimidating courtroom foes. Was the choice of comedian Chris Rock to host this year's Oscars event a mistake? That's what officials at Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences are said to be asking themselves in the wake of comments implying only homosexuals watch the Oscars, according to the Drudge Report. "I never watched the Oscars. Come on, it's a fashion show," Rock recently said. "No one performs; it's not like a music show. What straight black man sits there and watches the Oscars? Show me one!" Rock added: "Awards for art are f---ing idiotic." Academy members are reportedly privately calling for the 39-year-old...

First let me say this: There is no excuse for the police to verbally harass or physically assault innocent black youth (or anyone for that matter). And the use of excessive force against criminal suspects should not be tolerated either. But this video parodies something that I have said for years. Anytime a policeman pulls a car over or in anyway interacts with a criminal suspect, it is already a highly charged situation. DON’T MAKE MATTERS WORSE! Read More...
