DEAR EDITOR: Lie and deny all you want, but every single death resulting from Iraq's invasion was caused by and is squarely at the feet of George W. Bush. Bush is not known for being smart; he is, however, well known for being stubborn. There is nothing admirable in his avowal to "stay the course" in Iraq. He has no choice. There can be no turning back now, much less sending the troops home. The die was cast by Bush soon after he took office when he was so determined to invade Iraq because "it was easy." How on earth...

So, for all that Bush is accused of being ''stubborn,'' it's Kerry who refuses to change. He reckons that Americans are worn out by the wild ride of the Bush years and really do long to ''get back to where they were'' -- back to Sept. 10, to the summer of shark attacks and missing congressional interns. All that going back to Sept. 10 means is that you'll have to learn the lessons of the morning after all over again: I do believe that, if clueless, complacent Kerry won, more Americans -- and Britons and Canadians and Australians and Europeans...

(KRT) - Maybe it happens this way in most elections. But it really seems the middle's getting squeezed in this presidential election. The angry idealists are going at it from the left and right, leaving the practical middle wondering which way it should go. I found myself in this predicament recently in New York, where I moderated a 45-minute exchange between Gary Bauer of the evangelical right and Joseph Hough of the Protestant left. The two went after it over matters like how you treat the poor. Even though it was barely 9 in the morning, the interview grew so...

"Everybody told me, 'God, if you're coming to Canonsburg, you've got to find time to go to Toy's, and he'll take care of you,'" Mr. Kerry said, dropping the name of a restaurant his motorcade had passed on the way in. "I understand it's my kind of place, because you don't have to - you know, when they give you the menu, I'm always struggling: Ah, what do you want? "He just gives you what he's got, right?" Mr. Kerry added, continuing steadily off a gangplank of his own making: "And you don't have to worry, it's whatever he's cooked...

SOUTH BEND -- A man with Alzheimer's disease who was wandering amidst traffic in the middle of a busy street suffered multiple injuries when a South Bend police officer used a Taser on him Friday night while attempting to coax him to safety. Thompson Thewo, 65, suffered deep cuts to his face, a fractured arm and a dislocated elbow after the officer tried to keep him out of the Ironwood Drive and Lincoln Way East intersection. Thewo hurt his face during a fall after he was hit by the first of two Taser probes, then suffered the arm injury when...

"Had I been reading to children and had my top aide whisper in my ear that America is under attack," Kerry has said, "I would have told those kids very nicely and politely that the president of the United States has something that he needs to attend to." It seems a little weird first of all that Kerry finds it necessary to tell us he would have spoken to the kids "very nicely and politely." No kidding. They're kindergarteners, for goodness sake. What else was he contemplating, flipping them all the bird and saying, "The president of the United States...

Since Mr Greenspan only represents the rich - Fact, he dosen't want the low minimun wage changed, infact he wants it abolished. Can the poor be represented by suing him? This man has legally robbed the average person blind. He has way to much power and it needs to be changed. He cannot keep giving money to big companies by taking it from the lower end of the scale. I personally cannot see giving any money to CEO's of public companies. That's what he is doing. When has Greenspan ever represented the low scale of paying jobs in this country?...

The 2004 campaign mystery deepened this week: George W. Bush faces as perilous a foreign policy impasse as any president in the past 25 years, and yet presumptive Democratic candidate John Kerry still lags behind him in opinion polls. Noting the frustration in the party’s ranks, some Democrats say Kerry should be ahead by 10 points. In the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released Wednesday, Kerry trailed Bush with 42 percent to the president’s 46 percent, with Ralph Nader at five percent. This was despite the finding that 49 percent of those interviewed said that Bush does not deserve...

How bout a deal? I know I'm banned. I'll admit I'm a trole now if you will let me log back in on November 3 after Kerry hands Boy Goerge his butt and tell you what a bunch of losers you are just like the first selected Chimp President is a losers How bout it, losers?

Kerry's Position(s) on Iraq: A Riddle Inside a Mystery Wrapped in an Enigma... John Kerry is interviewed by Time and the AP and is given ample opportunity to explain his position on the Iraq war. The words "might," "I can't say," and "that’s not a fair question" figure prominently: TIME: Would you say your position on Iraq is a) it was a mistaken war; b) it was a necessary war fought in a bad way; or c) fill in the blank? KERRY: I think George Bush rushed to war without exhausting the remedies available to him, without exhausting the diplomacy...

<p>A new career awaits Democratic presidential candidates: offering advice to hunters.</p>
<p>Tuesday, Vermont Gov. Howard Dean explained his support for extending the assault weapons ban next year because “deer hunters don't need to have assault weapons.” Gen. Wesley Clark says: “I like to hunt. I have grown up with guns all my life, but people who like assault weapons should join the United States Army, we have them.” Sen. John Kerry offered, “I never contemplated hunting deer or anything else with an AK-47.”</p>

<p>The other day I was walking through Noe Valley in San Francisco, and thinking about the nature of change. Change in Noe Valley has involved a lot more than small change.</p>
<p>In April, the selling price of the average single-family home in Noe Valley was $893,071 -- almost four times the price of the pre-earthquake Victorian I bought at the far end of Church Street in 1985. Alas, I sold it before anyone had heard the word "dot-com."</p>

As they ready themselves to receive holy Communion, the faithful, who have remained in their places during the earlier portion of the Eucharist, now move forward in procession to the table of the Lord. Even this gesture has significance for the people of God. We walk together in unity toward the heavenly banquet. This helps us to recall that we're living a journey — a journey together because we share in the gift of baptism — toward the heavenly Jerusalem. This is our moment to be nourished by the divine life of the Son who has said, "Do this in...

In case y'all went to bed early last night, albagore the robotic tuna was Conan's guest on NBC at 12:30am. Set your TIVOs - I believe Conan O'Brian's shows are rebroadcast the following day at 7pm on Comedy Central. The goron was predictibly wooden. When asked about his position on WOT, tunawood just rambled and contradicted himself that he opposed what Bush was doing but HE would form an international coalition and win the war. This after the hypocrite said that Al Quada is back and the Bush admin isn't doing enough. Then, with right and left hands flailing, albagore...

<p>There was good news for the American launch industry this week. Boeing's newest launch vehicle, the Delta IV, had a successful launch on Wednesday.</p>
<p>Despite that, the U.S. launch industry is unfortunately still in big trouble, and it's not clear that the Bush administration has any coherent or effective strategy with which to deal with it.</p>
