Democratic mega donor Tom Steyer financed at least one of the green groups who made payments to former Governor John Kitzhaber's fiancee, Cylvia Hayes while she was an "unofficial" advisor in the governor's office. Felony indictments were unsealed in Henrico County on Wednesday morning charging Del. Joseph D. Morrissey, I-74th, and the mother of an ex-law office worker in connection with the filing of allegedly fraudulent court documents. Morrissey was accused of four felony counts dealing with documents that were allegedly submitted in connection with his recent sentencing on a misdemeanor conviction. The charges against Morrissey include: felony uttering a forged public record; felony conspiracy to utter a forged record; felony inducing perjury; and perjury. NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Eighty-seven year old former Louisiana Gov. Edwin Edwards has come up short in his attempt at a political comeback after serving a prison sentence for corruption. Results of Saturday's runoff in the Baton Rouge area's 6th Congressional District showed Edwards, a lifelong Democrat, losing to Republican Garret Graves. Attorney General Eric Holder plans to announce Thursday that he is resigning from the Obama administration, a Justice Department official confirmed to Fox News. The decision would cap a tumultuous six-year term for the nation's top law enforcement official. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) charged a company cofounded by Paul Pelosi Jr. with fraud on Wednesday after learning that two convicted criminals were running the business. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is currently claiming that seven different IRS officials experienced computer crashes that erased their emails and made it impossible for the IRS to cooperate with congressional investigations into the IRS targeting matter. The wave of computer crashes apparently struck both Washington, D.C. — where Lois Lerner oversaw the agency’s Exempt Organizations division — and also Cincinnati, Ohio — where agents processed tax-exempt applications. Former Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon was expected to plead guilty Tuesday in a corruption case after an FBI sting recorded him accepting thousands of dollars in cash and airline tickets from undercover agents posing as businessmen, according to court documents. Cannon agreed to plead guilty to a single count of honest services wire fraud, which carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, according to documents filed Monday at U.S. District Court. Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin will have to pay the government more than $501,000 as a result of his conviction on bribery and other charges, a federal judge said Tuesday.
