Indepdendent Sen. Joe Lieberman (Conn.) this weekend reiterated that he has not ruled out running as a Republican for reelection in 2012.

The decision by Beau Biden not to run for Senate brings to mind an historical parallel. With no Biden in the race, with no Ted Kaufman serving another term, the Democratic candidate is likely to be New Castle County executive Chris Coons. Back in 1972, no Democrat wanted to run against a popular Republican, so a young New Castle County Councilman with no money entered the race. His name: Joe Biden. Historical parallels might be all that Democrats have to hang onto. Rep. Mike Castle (R) is sufficiently popular statewide and has a fairly unimpeachable record of service in Washington....

Calling himself not the most likely candidate to unseat U.S. Senator Chris Dodd, State Sen. Sam Caligiuri withdrew from that race Tuesday and entered the Fifth Congressional District race. His move came about one week after Connecticut Republican Party chairman Chris Healy encouraged him to switch. In so doing, Caligiuri runs against fellow Republicans Justin Bernier and Mark Greenberg, and Democratic incumbent Chris Murphy. State Sen. Andrew Roraback, R-30, endorsed Caligiuri, with whom he has worked for years. Calling Caligiuri a person of integrity, Roraback does not believe Caligiuri hurts himself by switching races. “I think he is helped because...

Do you want Peter Schiff to run for Senate in Connecticut? If so, Peter has set a fundraising goal... http://www.schiff4senate.com

Peter Schiff turns on his computer and checks his fundraising numbers with the studied nonchalance other guys might display while perusing last night's box scores. It's a Friday in early August and Schiff's fans have set off a "money bomb" — a 24-hour pledge blitz they hope will persuade him to run for the U.S. Senate seat held for almost 30 years by Christopher J. Dodd. Schiff, the Fairfield County stockbroker and author who has become YouTube's most popular prognosticator of financial doom, says he will make up his mind by Labor Day. But spurred on by a cadre of...

State Sen. Sam Caligiuri, who represents the 16th District comprising Southington and Wolcott and parts of Cheshire and Waterbury, has announced his intention to run for the United States Senate in 2010. “To me, building a stronger America and a better Connecticut boils down to one simple question: ‘Can we do better?’ I know the answer to that question is a resounding yes, which is why I’m proud to announce my candidacy for the United States Senate,” Mr. Caligiuri said. “With our nation and our state at a crossroads, Connecticut needs a senator committed to reform, grounded in principle, and...

U.S. Sen. Christopher Dodd has another Republican challenger: Former ambassador Tom Foley is entering the race. Foley is a businessman who served as U.S. ambassador to Ireland for about two years. In 2003 and 2004, he served as a U.S. government official in Iraq, overseeing businesses and developing a plan for reviving the private sector economy. For his efforts, he earned the Department of Defense distinguished public service award. Foley established a website, www.tomfoley2010.com .........

Frank acts like a deranged lunatic while this student was intelligent, calm and rational. Frank adds there is a “systematic right-wing attack to try and divert the blame.” It amazes me how Frank continues to act like a child, knowing full-well that he shares a substantial amount of the blame for sub-prime mortgages which contributed to the current recession.

The GOP, with 1,639 accredited delegates, adopted a pre-arranged slate of running mates for Rell, whom they hope will be able to take advantage of her soaring popularity in November. They never had a roll call vote, unlike Democrats in Hartford, who battled all afternoon over their gubernatorial candidates. Alan Schlesinger of Woodbridge, a former Derby mayor and state representative, won the GOP nomination to run for U.S. Senate on a voice vote after Rell's speech emptied the gym. Paul Streitz, a Darien businessman, dropped his bid for the nomination on an immigration-reform platform, but was given platform time in...

Six months before election day, Connecticut Gov. Jodi Rell has a 77 - 11 percent approval rating and leads either of her two largely unknown Democratic challengers by margins of better than 3 - 1, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

President Bush did not actually invite the Taliban to visit Texas. He merely voiced his approval, in reference to the invitation, his buddies in Unocal set forth to the Taliban. No other clarifications are necessary, for the truth cannot be improved upon. I’ve listened closely to all the responses, and in doing so, I‘ve become confused about what a “Conservative”, actually is. It has always been my impression that conservatives believe in hard work, character, integrity, and above all, self-reliance. Many times I’ve heard tales of conservatives that started from nothing, and using sheer determination and will, maybe some inherent...

Red Sox Fans for Truth UPDATE!!! "At the fundraiser, Kerry reflected on his reborn self. He praised the triple victories of the Jets, Giants and Yankees and said: 'I came here to bask in your glory, came here to grab onto that winning streak.'" (Washington Post, 9/22/04) "You guys had a big weekend, I tell you, Jets, Giants and Yankees, three in a row," said Mr. Kerry, whose last visit to New York was for a speech at Cooper Union the week before the Republican National Convention. "I just came here to bask in your glory a little bit. Most...

Gannett Fails One-Newspaper Communities/Counties- Port Huron Times Herald a Queue for Government Intervention? In particular, with today’s concentration of all reporting medium with just a few companies- who determines the void or lack of reporting in the best interest to citizens. I’ve challenged a Gannett newspaper, the Times Herald of Port Huron Michigan of its obligation citizens in one-newspaper counties. There appears to be an immediate need to make certain legislation be brought requiring corporate newspapers to better report news and serving the communities they cover. At a crucial time with the 2004 Primary literally days away- this particular newspaper,...
