  • Where is Juan?

The fact that Juan McCain is nowhere near a microphone badmouthing Trump is telling. When is the last time he was seen publicly? I have seen some of the Q talk re songbird but I don’t think Juan would spill any beans on his recent treason, unless somebody mixed him a real good IV truth telling cocktail. He has no remorse so I don’t expect a death bed confession. Does anyone know the latest on him? Has he called in some snarky comment?

McCain is mentally unstable. He proved this when he went wonkers during of his hearings. Brain cancer/tumors are serious business. It had affected his judgement and his security clearances should be revoked.

I just received a Samsung Galaxy S4 cell phone and can't figure it out. I was satisfied with my old Motorola flip phone; it rang when I wanted, reminded me of meetings and even sent text messages. This new thing has a pretty screen and more stuff than a space shuttle, but finding it and making it work is next to impossible with no grandkids here to help.

Andy Rooney Dead at 92, One Month After Retiring Never retire: almost six weeks to the day after delivering his last cranky essay on 60 Minutes, writer and commentator Andy Rooney is dead of complications following minor surgery. He was 92, and had delivered exactly 1,097 of his trademark on-air bitch sessions. It's hard to think of a television correspondent more American than Rooney: interminably cranky, perpetually confused, stubbornly opinionated, slightly bigoted, usually wrong, and strangely likable. Rooney wrote his first "television essay"—"Essay on Doors," natch—in 1964. (It was delivered by CBS correspondent Harry Reasoner). He joined 60 Minutes in...

Ad says Kerry lied; record says otherwise Sunday, August 08, 2004 It's a dirty ad about a dirty war. It's an old grudge held by old men. And now it's playing a part in a dirty campaign. A so-called independent group bought ads slamming John Kerry's war record in Vietnam. The ads scorn Kerry's medals, claim he was lying about his service, and allege he got an early ride home because of a couple of bogus Purple Hearts. As of this writing, the White House has only half-heartedly distanced itself from these ads, which their creators hope to...

EDITOR'S NOTE: It was one of the Great Curmudgeon's best: her Campaign Diary recapping the goofiness on display at the last Democrat National Convention — from Bubba's pimp-rolling to Al and Tipper's lip-locking and all the foolishness in between. We dish it out again — reheated and tasting as just good as when first served in Miss King's September 25, 2000 entry for "The Misanthrope's Corner." And now that summer is in full swing, and your looking for the company of a good book as you sip your lemonade, we suggest you obtain the faithful collection of each and every...

<p>NEW YORK (AP) -- Andy Rooney set the phone and e-mail lines at CBS buzzing over his commentary -- in which he said God was speaking through him -- calling Mel Gibson and the Rev. Pat Robertson "wackos."</p> <p>CBS said Monday it received its heaviest audience response to a "60 Minutes" report since Rooney's commentaries on the Iraq war last spring.</p>

Cranky, rude, indispensable. Our group of grumpy know-it-alls—including Bill O'Reilly and Andy Rooney—explain (and you better pay attention) why America needs curmudgeons now more than ever Curmudgeons keep the rest of us cockeyed optimists honest. That's why we need them more than ever. (If you don't like it, lump it.) When author Ray Bradbury was 13, he saw W. C. Fields standing on a Hollywood street corner. Excitedly, the boy approached Fields with a sheet of paper for an autograph. Fields signed his name, handed back the paper, and said, "There you are, you little son of a bitch." Fields...

Monday, April 28, 2003 Andy Rooney Has War Guilt Andy Rooney says he was wrong about his views on going to war with Iraq - sort of, that is. "I felt chastened," the cranky "60 Minutes" commentator told the Associated Press. "I had to think that I was a little wrong. There's no question that it's better without him in there, without Saddam Hussein." "A little wrong"? Earlier this month he was less wishy-washy about President Bush's decision to launch Operation Iraqi Freedom. He said April 10, "And I must say that fortunately he's president and I'm not." In reciting...

"...Memorandum: Get, if I can, The Federalist without buying it. It is not worth it. But, being a lost book, Izard, or some one else, will give it to me. It certainly was instrumental in procuring the adoption of the Constitution. This is merely a point of curiosity and amusement to see how wide of its explanations and conjectures the stream of business has taken its course. ...unfortunately, intrigue and cabal take place of fair inquiry. Here an observation forces itself upon me: that, in general, the further any measure is carried from the people, the less their interests are...

Digital privacy: A curmudgeon's guide By David Holtzman July 31, 2002, 4:00 AM PT Last month I had the honor of being my county's first Fourth of July fireworks casualty. I spoiled the dignity of the occasion by getting into an argument with the emergency room clerk because I wouldn't allow her to photocopy my driver's license in order to be trusted to pay cash. I was really getting into the argument until I looked around the triage room and saw that people were looking at me strangely; like I had just told a Linux Users Group, "Windows XP is...
