An endorsement from former President Obama and House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn in reliably blue Columbia, South Carolina was not enough to push the city’s Democratic mayoral candidate over the finish line. Republican mayoral candidate Daniel Rickenmann, a businessman and Columbia city council member, defeated Democrat Tameika Isaac Devine by a margin of 52% to 48% on Tuesday night in Columbia which sits in a county that President Biden carried by almost 40 points in 2020.Former President Obama, according to Washington Free Beacon, released an audio message in support of Devine and the former president carried the city’s county by...

Senators defeated a last-ditch effort by Democrats to call witnesses in the impeachment trial of President Trump Friday evening, then approved a final schedule that will force a vote Wednesday on Mr. Trump’s fate. That means the president will deliver his State of the Union address Tuesday while still under the cloud of impeachment, but will almost certainly be acquitted the next day. In a series of votes, Republicans blocked Sen. Charles E. Schumer’s attempt to get former National Security Adviser John R. Bolton to testify. The GOP also shot down an attempt by Democrats to outsource all witness decisions...
  • GOP on verge of huge, unprecedented political victory

By all accounts, it looks like a deal is about to be announced in which the debt ceiling is hiked in exchange for the promise of major spending cuts, including to entitlements, totalling at least $2.4 trillion. Anything can happen, but it apppears the GOP is on the verge of pulling off a political victory that may be unprecedented in American history. Republicans may succeed in using the threat of a potential outcome that they themselves acknowledged would lead to national catastrophe as leverage to extract enormous concessions from Democrats, without giving up anything of any significance in return. Not...

Poll: Bush leads all Dems in NH Associated Press CONCORD — The Democrats have been getting the attention, but a new poll shows President Bush would get the votes in a head-to-head contest in New Hampshire. The poll, for the Concord Monitor, shows President Bush would beat any of the Democrats on the Presidential primary ballot in the state. The poll shows Howard Dean still has a solid lead among Democrats, but says he would lose big to President Bush. It shows John Kerry and Joe Lieberman would fare better against Bush, but still would lose to him. By the...

Won't work Dems. Keep trying. Now that the economy is unmistakably recovering, your only hope left is to paint Operation Iraqi Freedom as Vietnam Redux - because Vietnam is considered a classic failure and you so desperately want the president to fail. There have been many posts here about why this comparison is flawed. I have more reasons but also why the strategy itself will fail. Maybe already has. You have to hope the president fails and by extension that America fails. You will have to campaign and preach this. You have to motivate folks out there to work hard...
