With electric vehicle technology becoming more desirable to the average consumer, Ford applied its innovative design sense to the two-wheel market and created the E-Bike concept vehicle. Unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, this sleek, cross-gender bike is powered not with gas, but by a lithium-ion battery. The drive system is subtly embedded in the 5.5-pound aluminium-and-carbon construction frame for a cool, minimalist look—perfect for the energy (and image) conscious city commuter. Why now? More than 30 million motorized bicycles were sold globally in 2010, with an increasing market share in Europe. Because the E-Bike can also be ridden...

PPP's first three polls on the Montana Senate race found the same thing every time: a 2 point lead for Denny Rehberg. Over the last six months though there's been a shift and Jon Tester now leads Rehberg by a 48-43 margin. Tester's moved into the lead because of shifts with Democrats and independents. What was an 86-10 lead with Democrats is now 90-7. He's been able to consolidate his base some. And although he already led independents by a 46-41 margin he's pushed that advantage up further to 48-36. Montanans are closely divided in their feelings about Tester with...

White House says Afghanistan trip not political politicalmugshot Posted by CNN Political Unit Washington (CNN) – The White House strongly denied Tuesday that President Barack Obama's surprise trip to Afghanistan was executed for political motives, saying the visit was more than a year in the making. On a conference call with reporters, a senior administration official speaking from Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan was asked if the trip – made on the one-year anniversary of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden – was opening the president to charges of "craven politics." "I think what could not be clearer is...

Hi, I Killed Osama bin Laden and I Approve This Message Can Barack Obama ride the OBL raid to victory in November? BY MICHAEL A. COHEN | MAY 1, 2012 If there is one attribute that the 2012 U.S. presidential campaign has brought us in great measure, aside from sweater vests and former pizza magnates with delusions of grandeur, it is false outrage. Whether it's Democrats up in arms over Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus comparing the "war on women" to a "war on caterpillars" or multimillionaire Ann Romney becoming a troubadour for stay-at-home moms against the slings and...

BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan -- President Barack Obama is telling troops in Afghanistan that Osama bin Laden got his justice one year ago, as the president stirs up memories of his signature foreign policy victory in a secret trip to this war zone. Obama told the troops: "The reason America is safe is because of you."

April 8, 2012, marked the anniversary of a law that affects the lives of more than 270,000 Buckeyes. Ohio’s concealed-handgun license law turned 8 years old on that Sunday afternoon. Notably absent from the festivities were blood in the streets, Wild West reenactments and an epidemic of accidental gun injuries. To understand the significance of this event and why today it seems completely unremarkable, simply Google “Ohio concealed carry 2003” and prepare to be astonished. • “The widespread carrying of concealed handguns, however, will result in far more cases of senseless killings that occur simply because a loaded gun was...

After a long line of low-profile, foregone-conclusion U.S. House campaigns, western Iowa faces an intense battle between a leader of the Tea Party movement and a candidate with close ties to the Obama administration. In one corner is five-term incumbent Republican Rep. Steve King, the conservative firebrand and national TV presence. In the other is Christie Vilsack, wife of the U.S. agriculture secretary and the state’s former first lady, who is trying to become the first woman Iowa sends to Congress. The two already have mixed it up on the campaign trail over such issues as health care, the economy...

WASHINGTON — Rick Santorum wants to ensure the GOP's policy platform represents conservatives' interests. Newt Gingrich wants help retiring his campaign debt and repairing his reputation. Both Republicans are expected to endorse their former rival Mitt Romney — and signal to their backers to fall in line behind the party's presumptive nominee — but each wants assurances that Romney will deliver for them. Neither is rushing toward the task.Meanwhile, it doesn't appear that Rep. Ron Paul of Texas is going to go that way. Paul is still in the race and hasn't yet recognized Romney as the party's nominee. The tea...

Richard Grenell, an openly gay foreign policy expert hired by Mitt Romney's presidential campaign, has resigned after only two weeks on the job. In a statement obtained Tuesday by Jennifer Rubin, a conservative columnist for The Washington Post, Grenell said, "While I welcomed the challenge to confront President Obama's foreign policy failures and weak leadership on the world stage, my ability to speak clearly and forcefully on the issues has been greatly diminished by the hyper-partisan discussion of personal issues that sometimes comes from a presidential campaign." Grenell also thanked Romney for not making his sexual orientation an issue when...

Grover Norquist, the influential conservative activist who is the president of Americans for Tax Reform, will endorse Richard Mourdock over Dick Lugar before next week's Republican Senate primary in Indiana, Yahoo News has learned. Lugar, who has represented Indiana in the U.S. Senate since 1977, has never signed Norquist's "Taxpayer Protection Pledge" never to raise taxes. A majority of Republican lawmakers—and some Democrats in conservative districts—have signed the Americans for Tax Reform pledge. Norquist will join a handful of high-profile conservatives and organizations—including Sarah Palin and the American Conservative Union—who have backed Mourdock, Indiana's state treasurer who is running to...

Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee says President's surprise trip to Afghanistan on the one-year anniversary of the death of Osama bin Laden must campaign related, since Obama's spent the last three years gutting the military: “Our troops on the front lines always appreciate a visit from the Commander-in-Chief. Obama’s last visit was in December 2010, and the last time he addressed the nation about Afghanistan was June 2011. "Clearly this trip is campaign related. We’ve seen recently that President Obama has visited college campuses in an attempt to win back the support...

There is nothing quite like a $70 billion debt auction settlement at the last day of a month to bring total US debt to a record $15.692 trillion, which happens to be just $600 billion shy of the $16.394 trillion debt ceiling. (and no, contrary to simple economic textbook lesson, this does not mean that the private sector just got another $70 billion in debt capacity courtesy of taxpayers, as explained here). And now that we know what Q1 GDP was at the end of Q1, or namely $15.462 trillion, it is simply math to divine that today alone total...

In 2008 Barack Obama criticized Democratic rival Hillary Clinton for using Osama bin Laden in an ad to score "political points." Four years later the Obama campaign has created an ad of its own, insinuating that Mitt Romney would not have given the order to capture and kill bin Laden. The blowback has been swift and severe, with Navy SEALs, Sen. John McCain and even Democrat allies like Arianna Huffington denouncing the ad. The Washington Post headlines its story about Team Obama’s new campaign ad with “Obama goes negative on Mitt Romney’s wealth with ‘Swiss Bank Account’.” A better headline would have been, “Got desperation?” The ad itself is not unexpected, and hits all of the class-warfare buttons one imagines: Video : Swiss Bank Account Chris Cillizza gives this a straightforward look on the ad, which will air in Iowa, Ohio, and Virginia, three key battleground states this fall. The attack is also straightforward, of course. Romney is rich enough to have a Swiss bank account, a subject that came up briefly in...

President Obama has arrived in Kabul, Afghanistan, on a surprise trip to sign a strategic agreement with Afghanistan. He will address the nation at 7:30 p.m. EDT from Bagram Air Base on Tuesday evening. In going to Afghanistan on the ninth anniversary of the most notorious example of premature presidential gloating, Obama risks turning the high point of his presidency into a political weapon for his enemies. But it will be how the president conducts himself while in the war zone that will determine if this trip is lumped in with George W. Bush's donning of a flight suit and...

Occupy Wall Street protesters attacked some photographers covering the May Day protests today in New York, trying to damage or seize their cameras. There are no reported injuries but one photographer was hit in the face, another got in a "tug-of-war" with a protester over her camera, and another had her camera smashed into her face by a protesters, according to those at the scene. "The black bloc crowd has been making grabs for cameras," C.S. Muncy, a freelance photographer on assignment for the Village Voice, told BuzzFeed. The "black bloc" is a group of protesters all dressed in black,...
