    Gary Kurtz, a producer on “Star Wars” and “The Empire Strikes Back,” has died. He was 78. According to a statement by The Kurtz/Joiner Archive, the producer died from cancer on Sunday in North London, England. “Gary Kurtz, Star Wars producer passed away on Sunday the 23rd of September at 4.47pm after living with Cancer for the last year,” read the statement. “We have him to thank for these wonderful memories that he made for us all.     According to Adriana Santini, Kershner - who also directed Sir Sean Connery in 1983 Bond film Never Say Never Again - died at home after a long illness. Born in Philadelphia in 1923, Kershner trained as a musician before making documentaries and then features. His other credits include Robocop 2 and Eyes of Laura Mars with Faye Dunaway. Known as "Kersh", the director previously worked with Connery on 1996 romantic drama A Fine Madness.

    30 years. Three decades. Man, do I feel old. Many of you weren't even born in 1980. That is a scary thought. Me, I was 6 years old and a Star Wars fanatic from the first moment I saw the opening scene of the original movie. My generation didn't play cowboys-and-indians, or soldiers on a battlefield...we were Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and the rest of the characters from "A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away"...
