    MARIETTA, Pa. — The theft of hundreds of pounds of explosives from a pipeline work site in Lancaster County is under investigation. UPDATE: The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives says more explosives were stolen than first thought. Investigators took a full inventory and discovered an additional case of dynamite was missing, bringing the total amount stolen to 704 pounds. The previous estimate was 640 pounds.     Authorities in Pennsylvania were searching Wednesday for more than 640 pounds of high explosives that were reportedly stolen over the weekend from a work site in Lancaster County. The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the recovery. A contracting company reported the theft Monday, the Lebanon Daily News reported. The missing explosives include 640 pounds of dynamite and 400 blasting caps, the report said. A blasting cap is used to trigger an explosive device.

    The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), and the Carbon County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) are asking for help from the public in gathering information about the theft of approximately 559 pounds of high explosives from a USFS explosives bunker located near Red Lodge. A press release from the ATF says that in April 2013, someone used forced entry to get into an explosives storage facility owned and operated by the U. S. Forest Service. The storage facility is located approximately two miles south of the City of Red Lodge.

The explosives were discovered missing Thursday from the UA's San Xavier Mining Laboratory in the 6200 block of West Ocotillo Ranch Road, said Sigberto Celaya, resident agent of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
