Hi kids, Many of you will be marching today, demonstrating for an issue you believe to be very important. Many years ago, I was young, well informed, and absolutely convinced I knew enough to make good decisions for the future of the world, and couldn’t understand just how obtuse all the oldies were, how they just didn’t know the stuff I had just learned. Malthusian economics drove most of us, the Club of Rome had reported, and to my subsequent shame, I confess that in 1975 I voted for the Values Party…. I wanted a better world, I knew resources...

President Donald Trump’s response to the weekend violence in Charlottesville, Va., has sparked a new round of soul-searching in U.S. corporate boardrooms over whether they should keep working closely with the White House. On Tuesday, the number of members who have withdrawn from a White House advisory council grew to five, and executives including Wal-Mart Stores

......unfortunately, global warming isn't real, and we can't help them. Liberals would have you believe that the coastline is unchanged from the day the Earth was created until the first man-made CO2 emissions were burned, but we know that over many years there have been radical changes to the continents and coastlines, and what is happening in Alaska is probably just a part of that natural process. If the article wanted to be thorough, it could have looked at the evolution of the Alaskan coastline over the past few hundred years to show how change occurs on its own. But...

The zombie apocalypse is nigh! The zombie apocalypse is nigh! Well, no it isn’t. In fact, it’s probably as likely to occur as the rest of Paul Ehrlich’s predictions. Ehrlich, a Stanford University biologist famous for his widely debunked book “The Population Bomb,” doubled down on his climate change and overpopulation fear-mongering with HuffPost Live on May 21. Ehrlich warned host Josh Zepps that the dangers of overpopulation are growing, blaming Republicans and the media for failing to take action. While hawking a new book called “Hope On Earth,” Ehrlich’s co-author Michael Tobias praised Ehrlich’s older, outrageously wrong predictions and...

A day after President Obama got what he called a "shellacking" in the midterm elections, he took full responsibility for the outcome that turned over the House to the Republicans. Pundits will spend the next few days poring over the numbers. But judging from the questions reporters asked at the news conference, the defeat is being cast as a clear message from voters that Obama is going in the wrong direction.(snip)For the last two years, the electorate has been subjected to lies about Obama's religion, his heritage and his agenda. These deliberate falsehoods were designed to scare the bejeezus out...

In the hours since a man enraged at the government slammed his small plane into an Austin, Tex., IRS building, white supremacists and their fellow travelers have elevated Joseph Andrew Stack into an icon of resistance to tyranny. “The Guy is a true HERO!!!” wrote “northroad” on Stormfront.org, the largest white supremacist Web forum in the world. “God bless him,” chimed in “Rudyard,” following a comment by “suepeace”: “This was quite heroic. There is a gradual awakening underway. I wonder how racially conscious he was.” Shortly after Stack slammed his Piper PA-28 into the IRS building Thursday morning, killing himself...

Since the 1960s Western Society has been in the grip of a remarkable and very dangerous psychological phenomenon. Again and again we have seen the rise of some great fear, centered on a mysterious new threat to human health and well-being. As a result, we are told, large numbers of people will suffer or die. Salmonella in eggs; listeria in cheese; BSE in beef; dioxins in poultry; the Millennium Bug; DDT; nitrate in water; vitamin B6; Satanic child abuse; asbestos; SARS; Asian bird flu—the list is seemingly endless. Indeed, we are currently in the grip of the greatest of such...

British people are now convinced about the dangers of global warming but are either baffled about how to stop it or are ignoring the issue. Analysts say few people are taking action to deal with the threat of climate change, although over the past 12 months the vast majority have come to accept that it poses a real threat to the world. Opinion polls reveal much confusion among the public about what Britain should do to combat the problem. A backlash is now a real threat, said Phil Downing, head of environmental research for Ipsos Mori. 'There's cynicism because on...

A civil rights group called P.U.L.S.E. called for an investigation after a noose was found at a Miami-Dade county building last month. At a news conference Thursday, the group asked for diversity training at the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department after the October 12th incident. P.U.L.S.E. officials said employees gave them photographs showing a noose hanging in a common area of the county water and sewer department building in North Miami Beach. They believe this is a racist symbol directed at the plant's director. Employees say they feared for their jobs, which is why they had not spoke out earlier....

No one can say exactly what it looks like when a planet takes ill, but it probably looks a lot like Earth. Never mind what you've heard about global warming as a slow-motion emergency that would take decades to play out. Suddenly and unexpectedly, the crisis is upon us. From heat waves to storms to floods to fires to massive glacial melts, the global climate seems to be crashing around us. The problem -- as scientists suspected but few others appreciated -- is that global climate systems are booby-trapped with tipping points and feedback loops, thresholds past which the slow...

WHEN ASKED Monday if climate change -- global warming -- was behind the deadly Asian tsunami, the United Nation's Jan Egeland -- he of "stingy" aid fame -- said no, the tsunami was a "geologically caused" disaster. "A tsunami like this is caused by an earthquake that has nothing to do with climate change, " he explained. Minutes later, however, Egeland did suggest a possible connection between global warming and the disaster. He had heard that one-third of the Maldives islands disappeared momentarily underwater, he said, adding that "actually climate change means oceans (are) growing, (so) certainly tsunamis will have...

Their hypothesis: America is turning into a bunch of fundamentalists .. because the Evangelicals made the difference in this election and it's *VERY* frightening. What blather and swill. Just because we love America, value her and our traditions, and are protective and defensive about ANY enemies who dare trample on her or hurt us .. we're so angry and "skeeeery." "We have a serious problem in this country. We have to...

Dear USA Next Friend, We will never forget where we were when we heard. We will never forget the images we saw.
