To the editor: I carry a gun everywhere I go in Flagstaff. I carry at the bank, I carry at the grocery store, I carry when I go check the mail. Any business with a sign that says "no weapons" does not get my business. I do not have a permit to carry a gun, as you do not need one in our great state. Here is video from last night where Fox News' Griff Jenkins reported to Greta Van Susteren on the "Tea Party Express" as it rolls across the country. Jenkins was reporting from Flagstaff, Arizona last night, where several thousand people turned out. The crowd was shouting "Kill the Bill" behind him as he talked with Greta. Greta then talked to Steve Moore of the Wall Street Journal who said this Tea Party Movement is like a "Second American Revolution." He said he believes the Obama people made a "big mistake" by insulting Americans who are against ObamaCare, and that has ratcheted...

A 7-year-old boy hiking with his family was attacked Saturday by a mountain lion... The boy, whose name was not released, was apparently in a group taking a short hike at a scenic area of Flagstaff Mountain, Division of Wildlife spokesman Tyler Baskfield said. "The father turned and saw the cat had a hold of the young boy," ... The group began screaming at the cat and throwing rocks and was able to free the boy... the mountain is prime habitat for the cats, and there had been several recent sightings of mountain lions in west Boulder.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Buff the mayoral candidate was trying to sniff-out votes. But he won't be raising his right paw to take the oath of office. Buff the dog was a write-in candidate in the race for mayor in Williams, Ariz. Sitting Mayor Ken Edes, the only candidate on the actual ballot, easily won re-election. Buff and the other write-in candidates did manage to get about one-quarter of the votes. Buff ran on a platform of friendliness and honesty.

Three environmental activists were cooking up plastic explosives and had planned to test a device the day they were arrested, federal prosecutors alleged Wednesday as they indicted them. The three face five to 20 years in federal prison if they are convicted of conspiring to use fire or explosives to damage property. After a delay of nearly a month, a Flagstaff woman accused of being connected with the 1998 firebombing of a logging company in Oregon has been released from jail. Kendall Tankersley, 28, also known as Sarah Harvey, was released from an Oregon jail Jan. 10 on $150,000 bond. She is back in Flagstaff, ready to begin taking two classes at Northern Arizona University. Tankersley, a former employee at the university, was indicted in November by a federal grand jury in Oregon. She is accused of attempted arson and arson, acting as a lookout, in connection with a fire at U.S....

PHOENIX (AP) -- An Arizona bookstore owner charged in the firebombing of a government wildlife lab in Washington committed suicide in his jail cell Thursday, officials said. William C. Rodgers, 40, of Prescott, Ariz., suffocated after placing a plastic bag over his head while in a one-person cell in Flagstaff, the Coconino County medical examiner said. Rodgers was one of six people arrested earlier this month in connection with ecoterror attacks in Oregon and Washington in recent years. Political motivations turned criminal Thursday night or early Friday when vandals smashed a large glass door with a section of cinder block at the Republican Party headquarters in downtown Flagstaff.
