  • Consistent Conservatives - - A gathering place for believers in true conservative principles

Regrouping JANUARY 22, 2016 ~ CONSISTENTCONSERVATIVES This is an emergency means for us to keep in touch with our FRiends, who are real Conservatives, in case of purging. Or, if there is no purging, do we really want to continue our discussions in the forum where the owner despises us for not supporting his non-Conservative candidate? My purpose is to figure out what to do to continue our discussions to advance Conservatism.

Please help. I keep hearing folks on Free Republic talk about sidebars and other features, which for the life of me, I was not seeing. I use Chrome. I got the idea to go to Internet Explorer, and pulled up Freerepublic. Sure enough, I can see all the sidebars. Does this mean I have to switch over to IE to properly view FreeRepublic? I can't stand IE and realy prefer Chrome. Thanks for any input.

JRandomFreeper (Johnny) died at 4:33 pm, January 22, 2016. He was 54 years old, his last birthday, October 13. 2015. He leaves two sisters, one brother, two daughters and five grandchildren. Johnny had hundreds (thousands?) of Freeper friends. His posts were sought after and were pithy to the max. He was the ultimate prepper, survivor, agriculture plant grower, electronic expert, and trained chef. If you were in trouble, he was the one you would want with you. He could make something useful out of almost nothing, or out of plain air - air is something - nitrogen, oxygen, argon, carbon...

OK, JimRob and JohnRob, I know it is not a huge issue, but is there any chance we might find a way to possibly upgrade the "Search" function on FR? I just tried a search on "integrated", "Integrated", " 'integrated", " 'Integrated", and " 'integrated' " --and I could not find My own post! Re: http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/3386670/posts It's been years now. Since about 1998. I realize that JohnRob is concerned about the oddlooking character-fonts appearing on FR recently, but the FR search engine... could it possibly be upgraded just a bit? A teensy bit? It might help with all the duplicate...

News that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin would endorse Donald Trump in the 2016 Republican presidential primary was first broken by people posting on an online chat forum, and not by members of the media.

If you had to vote in your state primary/caucus today, knowing what you know now about the various declared and probable candidates, who would you vote for? Why? Who would you like to see as the running mate for your preferred candidate? If you could help staff your candidates cabinet and other top appointments, who would you choose? If you could recommend different congressional leaders than we have now, who would they be? And who would you like to see on the Supreme Court and why? And finally, feel free to donate to Free Republic.

2.2% of page views of FreeRepublic originate from India, according to the Alexa website: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/freerepublic.com Now, I suppose there could be a contingent of loyal posters from India, but I strongly suspect this represents the hot houses we've all heard about of serial posters and disruptors who come out of the wood work, especially during primary season, to push a given candidate and then switch to "I'm not going to vote" mode come general. Since there are apparently thousands of real Freepers from India, I encourage you to post here to dissuade me of what I feel certain is correct.
  • Google’s chairman wants algorithms to censor the internet for "Hate" speech.

Google’s chairman wants algorithms to censor the internet for hate speech - Quartz In an op-ed for The New York Times (paywall), Eric Schmidt, the executive chairman of Google, inserted himself directly into the middle of a heated debate about the line between fighting terrorism’s online reach and internet censorship. “It’s our responsibility to demonstrate that stability and free expression go hand in hand,” he writes. “We should build tools to help de-escalate tensions on social media—sort of like spell-checkers, but for hate and harassment.” His words came just after Hillary Clinton, the frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination, called...

Thanksgiving: Are You Thankful That God Has Provided Free Republic? It's a simple question. It can be answered immediately with a yes or a no. If yes, then let me encourage you to support this site that offers you a chance to have your say unhindered by the establishment trolls found on most other websites. Why thankful to God? Of course, we're thankful first for His providing us with salvation, with abundant blessings, with families, with freedom to practice our faith. But, you know, and I know that Free Republic does not infringe on any of those blessings but actually...

Ladies and Gentleman, across the world radical Islamic Jihadists secretly plot the destruction of Judea-Christian governments and everywhere take the lives of those who will not bow to their god Allah! We have been asleep and are way behind in our efforts to prevent the spread of this brutishly evil Islamic system that combines a falsified religious dogma with a special kind of gratuitous terror. As if it couldn't get any worse, radical Islamists are getting away with a murderous takeover of the world, while convincing those weak of mind and ignorant of Islam's methods, that it's their own fault....

Congressional Democrats are trying to build support for an effort to bar gun purchases by terror suspects, hoping to take advantage of the same public anxieties about security that gave Republicans a ringing House victory. The Democratic push seems likely to fall victim to opposition from the National Rifle Association and congressional gun-rights backers, chiefly Republicans, who have smothered firearms curbs for years. If the Republicans who control Congress block votes on the proposal, Democrats hope to profit politically by winning sympathy from angry voters. ...

I listen to a local talker Superstation WYDE out of B'ham in the afternoons (3:00 PM CST) called "Leland Live". Excellent show and the host (Leland Whaley) and producer (AJ) are incredibly up-to-date with breaking news and topics.....not just for the state....word wide. Caller asked Leland his main source for info because he's so well informed. He named off some....Drudge, Blaze, Twitter, ect.. Then said his MAIN source was FR. Just thought you guys would want to know. Leland, if you're reading....howdy! Great show. Keep up the good work!

I don't know if this has impacted anybody else, but in recent weeks, I've noticed that HTML special characters are not rendering properly in HTML posts. For example, the character “ is rendering as “, the character ” is rendering as ”, and so on. A screenshot of a typical thread is here: Needless to say, that is really irritating. There is a workaround for this: replace these special characters with their corresponding HTML codes. The ones that FR is currently having problems with are as follows: ‘ "left single quote" ‘ ’ "right single quote" ’ “ "left double...

Many thanks to JimRob and all the team at FreeRepublic.com! Great interface in so many ways. When I'm Freepin' out, I don't want heavy graphics and ads coving the page top to bottom. People are always looking. Restaurant managers are doing flybys (it's there job). FreeRepublic.com lets me get my patriot on privately in public without having to worry about folks looking over my shoulder - which is nice. I preach it, but when it's appropriate. The only thing though is that annoying freepathon bar at the top. People should give more faster to get rid of that thing ;)....

I would like to request your Prayers and thoughts for myself, and my family for the very unexpected passing of my wife. Many of you have seen me refer to her as Mrs. Rikkir, but her name was Patsy. She was 55, and mother to one daughter, and Mee Maw to three grandsons. She was a KY farm girl, who took a stupid NC city boy, and, 29 years ago, pulled him from a self destructive path, and instead gave him a path of love and responsibility. She was universally loved by almost all who met her. I have fielded...
