Who would you vote for if you were not afraid that your candidate could not win? I get the feeling that a lot of Republicans are not going with their "true love" candidate but picking someone they think has a better chance of winning. Dragon-lady Hillary is always held up as the dire consequence of voting for a Republican that does not have cross-over appeal. Another part of this problem is how the media pick the "top tier" candidates and the "serious" candidates. They create a self fulfilling prophecy by giving the impression that the candidates with the most money...

"What happens to the GOP if amnesty is enacted?" It's a peculiar question given the posts I have read since before, and after, the 2006 mid-term elections regarding teaching Republicans a lesson. My Houston, Texas Congressman (John Culberson) and two Texas Senators fought hard against the amnesty immigration bills. But since the Republicans are being "taught a lesson" by ultra-conservatives these fine conservatives who represent me in both Houses have been sidelined. So by teaching the Republicans a lesson what did you expect other than for amnesty to pass? It's sort of a captain obvious moment, don't cha'think! Reduce the...

Contact: David W. Kralik of Draft Newt, +1-202-256-6328 WASHINGTON, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Newt Gingrich has indicated that running for president would now be "last resort" but that hasn't stopped a new nationwide effort from forming to urge him to run for the presidency. "Today, we are launching a major nationwide grassroots presidential draft effort, in the spirit of Reagan and Goldwater, to urge Newt Gingrich to run for the Republican Presidential nomination," said campaign founder David W. Kralik. The "Draft Newt" effort will take advantage of the latest in online political trends by using its web site, http://www.DraftNewt.org as...

Did anyone else notice that when you move your pointer over the choices on an FR poll, that there's now a new grey box which follows your selection? That wasn't always that way, was it? Is this flash or javascript that does that? Just curious.
-
Sorry for the vanity, folks, but the current FR poll question - "Is the failed port deal bad for America?" - can definitely be read two different ways. One is that it's asking if the deal itself is bad for America, and the other way is that it's asking if the FAILURE of the deal is bad for America. Can we get it cleared up? Otherwise the results would be kinda useless.
