Gun control proponent Gabby Giffords was in Nevada over the weekend campaigning for the same background check her attacker, Jared Loughner, passed to acquire his handgun. Loughner shot Gabby Giffords on January 8, 2011. According to Guns.com, Giffords’s stop was part of the gun control bus tour she and her husband, Mark Kelly, have been on for 14 weeks. She was in Nevada to push Question 1, which would expand background checks to more gun sales by requiring private sales and transfers to be checked just like retail sales.

Gun Control has been a losing political issue on the national stage for as long as there have been guns and elections. Democrats however are stupid and think this year things are going to be different. On May 9 — less than two years since universal background checks were hoisted onto the backs of law-abiding citizens in Washington state — Gabby Giffords was in the state campaigning for special protective orders that will allow firearm confiscation. The orders — “Extreme Risk Protection Orders” — would be similar to California’s Gun Violence Restraining Orders, inasmuch as they would allow “family or household members” to petition a judge to order the temporary confiscation of firearms from another family member or person living in the household.
