Among the diplomats meeting here in Bonn, there's a recognition that the person who's really key to the future progress of climate talks is not in Germany but in the White House some 6,500km (4,000 miles) away. It's not you Mr Trump, it's your official first daughter! One delegate here trilled: "What are we going to do about Ivanka?" He wasn't alone. In most of the conversations I've had here in Bonn, one name is mentioned with a nodding mixture of reverence and hope. For rich and poor countries, she's seen by many as the best bet for keeping the...

Over several hours of slide shows and presentations, representatives from the Kushner family business urged Chinese citizens gathered at a Ritz-Carlton hotel to consider investing hundreds of thousands of dollars in a New Jersey luxury apartment complex that would help them secure what’s known as an investor...

Authored by Michael Snyder via The Economic Collapse blog,Why do things never seem to change no matter who we send to Washington? It seems like for decades many of us have been trying to change the direction of this country by engaging in the political process. But no matter how hard we try, the downward spiral of our nation just continues to accelerate. Just look at this latest spending deal. Even though the American people gave the Republicans control of the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives, this deal very closely resembles “an Obama administration-era budgetâ€. It...

“There’s a lot I don’t know about how government works and how things get done, but I feel I know enough now that I can be much more proactive about the type of change and reform that I’d like to see happen,” she said. [snip] In interviews last week, she said she intended to act as a moderating force in an administration swept into office by nationalist sentiment. Ivanka Trump has been involved in discussions with the World Bank about establishing a funding operation that would support female entrepreneurs, bank and administration officials said Wednesday. The officials stressed that nothing has been set up yet and that talks are ongoing about how this would be set up. They said it could be structured as a World Bank-run "facility," which accepts contributions from governments and private donors and then provides funding and support to women in developing countries. According to a senior administration official, Trump recently pitched the idea to World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim, who then...

As we’ve documented, Joy Reid has a habit of shutting down conservatives on her MSNBC show who say things she doesn’t like. So today, Reid invited on her kind of conservative. . . . But what really put the lie to the notion that Haglund is a “conservative commentator” was this line from her: “Ivanka and Jared are more moderate. I hope they would use that influence [on Trump] a little bit more.” So Reid’s idea of a “conservative” is someone who wants to see President Trump pushed to the left. Got it!View the video here.
