Maryland gun dealers have sold more firearms in the first nine months of this year than in all of 2011 and 2012 combined, the state police said Wednesday. Buyers have applied to purchase 117,009 guns this year as lawmakers debated and enacted some of the toughest new gun laws in the country. More than 15,000 gun purchase applications were sent to the state police in the 10 days before Maryland's ban on assault rifle sales and a new handgun licensing requirement took effect Tuesday. "Maryland is armed to the teeth," said Del. Luiz Simmons, a Montgomery County Democrat who voted...

Why Do The Philadelphia Police Have 1,356 Full-Auto M-16s? Posted on April 18, 2013 by Robert Farago “An automatic M-16 rifle is missing from one of the Philadelphia Police Department’s main gun-storage units and Commissioner Charles Ramsey has called in federal authorities to investigate,” philly.com reports. ”Obviously, this is very, very serious,” Ramsey said. “And believe me, we will get to the bottom of it, one way or another, I guarantee that.” Cops lose gun. Cops go crazy trying to find it before it turns into another Fast and Furious Brian Terry deal. Another day, another example of why cops...

He said he will introduce bills during the 120-day legislative session to prohibit the sale of assault weapons and restrict the size of ammunition magazines to fewer than 10 bullets. Since the December 14th murder of 27 people prevented by law from defending themselves, the American left has worked overtime to intimidate, embarrass and harass 2nd Amendment supporters into relinquishing their God given right to keep and bear arms. Gun and accessory bans, sales by private citizens outlawed, imminent threats of confiscation, millions in new taxes and fees and countless, law abiding citizens menaced with being summarily pronounced felons—all of these threats have been brought to bear on the American public by self-righteous hypocrites. Yet a full month has gone by since the grisly, Sandy Hook killings and the far...

The 15-year old boy is the son of a deputy "constable" in the Houston area. He and his 12 year old sister were alone in the home. He grabbed his father's AR-15 and pulled the trigger. The gun did not shoot by itself, contrary to the usual liberal screed. The gun was used to do what it is intended to do, protect the owner. In North Carolina, State Senator R. C. Soles, a Democrat and an attorney, with a long record of supporting anti-gun legislation, shot at two men, former clients, on his property, hitting one of them with his...

If the Connecticut school massacre was the start of a contest to see who could be the crassest and most exploitive on the gun issue, the Left won in a landslide. Before the victims' bodies were even taken away by the coroner, the Left was blaming the NRA for the horror. No matter what the circumstances, the Left politicizes gun violence. Rep. Gifford's shooting was blamed on Gov. Palin and the Tea Party's indelicate political speech, despite murderer's being apolitical and deranged. Now that the Left has won the national political battle, they are using the latest tragedy toward their...

Though “Coach is Right” rarely posts pieces not original with its staff writers, this letter from Marine Corporal Joshua Boston to California Senator Diane Feinstein concerning her proposed “assault weapons” ban must be the exception. For in just 200 words, Corporal Boston has captured both the essence of our nation’s existence and the courage which will be required of determined Americans if our nation is to endure. Senator Dianne Feinstein, I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government’s right to...

As Florida becomes the first state to register one million concealed carry permits and the Illinois’ legislature writes the nations’ most draconian gun-ban regulations, the US government is quietly using $1.6 billion in borrowed money to amass ammunition for the domestic operations of Homeland Security. A 91 page standard transaction form filled out by the Department of Homeland Security Training Center in Glynco, GA reveals a staggering amount of ammunition purchased (in unit price in the thousands) by the Department. The .223 Rem Caliber 62/64 Grain JHP was purchased in quantity of...

“Because professors, staff and students are precluded from protecting themselves on campus, Cho, a student at Virginia Tech himself, was able to simply walk on campus and go on a killing rampage with no worry that anyone would stop him.” - Holly Adams (mother of VA Tech Victim) -- IMAGE HERE -- Located in Fredericksburg Virginia and with campuses in Stafford and Dahlgren, the University of Mary Washington is undeniably part of Virginia’s strong commitment to excellent public colleges and universities. Murder and violent crime rates were supposed to soar after the Supreme Court struck down gun control laws in Chicago and Washington, D.C. Politicians predicted disaster. "More handguns in the District of Columbia will only lead to more handgun violence," Washington’s Mayor Adrian Fenty warned the day the court made its decision. Chicago’s Mayor Daley predicted that we would "go back to the Old West, you have a gun and I have a gun and we'll settle it in the streets . . . ." The New York Times even editorialized this month about the Supreme Court's "unwise" decision that...

A wounded survivor of the Tucson shooting that critically injured Rep. Gabrielle Giffords is blaming Sarah Palin, House Speaker John Boehner, Fox TV host Glenn Beck, and former Nevada GOP Senate candidate Sharron Angle for the tragedy. “It looks like Palin, Beck, Sharron Angle and the rest got their first target,” Eric Fuller said in an interview with Democracy NOW. “Their wish for Second Amendment activism has been fulfilled — senseless hatred leading to murder, lunatic fringe anarchism, subscribed to by John Boehner, mainstream rebels with vengeance for all, even 9-year-old girls,” he added, referring to the death of Christina...

People on the government’s terrorist watch list tried to buy guns nearly 1,000 times in the last five years, and federal authorities cleared the purchases 9 times out of 10 because they had no legal way to stop them, according to a new government report. In one case, a person on the list was able to buy more than 50 pounds of explosives. The new statistics, compiled in a report from the Government Accountability Office that is scheduled for public release next week, draw attention to an odd divergence in federal law: people placed on the government’s terrorist watch list...

The New American recently warned that Americans who oppose policies emanating from Washington are being tarred as right-wing extremists and even potential terrorists by the Obama administration's Department of Homeland Security as well as by the New York Times and other liberal media organs. This push to demonize and even criminalize political dissent appears to be accelerating. Earlier this month, New York Times columnists Frank Rich and Paul Krugman wrote pieces laying the blame for the murder of an abortionist and a U.S. Holocaust Museum security guard at the foot of President Barack Obama's critics. Both have received figurative high-fives...

Oak Park is one of handful of municipalities in Illinois that does not even allow its residents to own and possess guns in their own homes. Unfortunately for Oak Parkers, someone forgot to tell the criminals, who often insist on bringing weapons along to their robberies. The need for a decisive, bold response on the part of the Oak Park Police Department leadership was clear, and the brass did not disappoint. The answer is—whistles!
