  • Gun ownership by state

    51. Delaware Statistics on gun ownership across the U.S. are hard to nail down; the ATF's National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record is not all-inclusive, and some guns go unregistered. But "Injury Prevention," a scholarly journal, has released what may be the closest look yet. Their survey, published in 2015, asked a representative sample of 4,000 adults nationwide whether they own firearms. The findings helped the research group estimate gun ownership rates in each state. Delaware's gun ownership rate is the lowest in the country, at 5.2 percent. That's far below the national average of 29.1 percent.

Marjory Stoneman Douglas student Alfonso Calderon asserted Wednesday that the NRA is “basically killing children,” prompting zero pushback from CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. CNN has been notorious for letting victims of the Parkland school shooting smear the NRA, including at their town hall last week where one student insisted that NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch doesn’t care about her own children.

Training for armed self-defense is like preparing for a natural disaster, according to the research of two Oregon State University professors. The researchers set out to understand how Americans who keep and carry handguns for self-defense mitigate the risks involved, such as accidentally shooting oneself, inaccurately identifying a threat or being clumsy. The professors identified ways that handguns owners work to diminish those risks, including through training, mental rehearsing and routine maintenance. The researchers determined that while those efforts mitigate the physical, legal and moral risks associated with using handguns for self-defense, it does not remove all risk. “It’s...

With gun ownership on the rise and the numbers of those with concealed carry permits exploding, a new poll shows that Americans are ready to use those weapons if threatened. In a survey for Insurancequotes.com, 78 percent said that they are mentally and physically prepared to kill an intruder. And even those armed with less lethal weapons, such as pepper spray or a golf club, would kill if they had to.    Some 44 percent of homes have a gun, according to the Pew Research Center. The thrust of the survey was to see how well prepared Americans are to handle an...

If Democrats would stop shooting people gun deaths would drop by 90% If the shooter in Orlando doesn’t represent all Muslims, why does the shooter in Las Vegas represent all gun owners? When the bullets started flying in Las Vegas none of the police officers took a knee. SNL’s Michael Che called President Trump a “Cheap Cracker.” If a conservative comedian referred to President Obama with a racial slur on national TV would they still have a job?

His job, among other things, involved getting Electrical Union workers "out of jams". He's also got ties to the Chicago mob, per the "Chicago Clout" blog. Marty Moylan later became mayor of Des Plaines. Now, the guy "that will tell you anything to get elected" has wormed his way into the Illinois House. California is seeing a big surge in gun sales as the Golden State gets ready to enact sweeping gun control measures. Some Californians are rushing to get their hands on the AR-15, which is America's most popular rifle and a longtime target of gun control proponents. Gun sales, including handguns, are up 40 percent this year in California, while sales of semi-automatic rifles have doubled. The new laws, set to take effect January 1, will ban so-called "assault-style rifles" with easily-detachable magazines. ... today is the last day to make a purchase, since the state has a 10-day waiting period...

U.S. Gun-Show Customers’ License Plates Come Under Scrutiny Federal agents enlisted local police to scan cars’ plates at shows’ parking lots By Devlin Barrett Oct. 2, 2016 7:35 p.m. ET Federal agents have persuaded police officers to scan license plates to gather information about gun-show customers, government emails show, raising questions about how officials monitor constitutionally protected activity. Emails reviewed by The Wall Street Journal show agents with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency crafted a plan in 2010 to use license-plate readers—devices that record the plate numbers of all passing cars—at gun shows in Southern California, including one in...

During a May 13 appearance on NBC’s Today, Katie Couric previewed her upcoming gun control documentary by claiming a “silent majority” of gun owners want more gun control. Couric said these things during an interview conducted by Matt Lauer, who began the interview by countering FBI statistics and claiming mass shootings are on the rise. In September 2014, the FBI released a highly politicized study claiming a rise in mass shootings, only to have the authors of the study recant months later and admit they created data to make the study outcome fit a preconceived conclusion. (snip) So Couric undertook...

Sssshhhhhh. I have a secret, something I can’t let the government know about. It’s something incredibly subversive, certainly seditious, possibly traitorous, and maybe soon to be illegal. Ready? Here’s my secret: We use … gasp … cash for almost all our transactions. Shocking, I know. Oddly enough, the trigger for our rapid transition to an all-cash (as much as possible) lifestyle happened almost three years ago when we discovered a large well-known store that carried supplies we use in our home woodcraft business. But the first time I went to purchase these supplies with a check, the following conversation ensued...

But the American people are not listening to the government and disarming themselves. On the contrary. It is clear that the one change the government cannot effect is to convince people they don't need to protect themselves with guns. Whether left-wing elites who believe the benefits of armed protection should be reserved for them alone, or the main street majority, who are swiftly acquiring arms, it will not be possible for a turncoat and treacherous government to overcome the brain's job one to remember danger. The American people will not be disarmed. Bless and thank your brain for that.

Heat-vision cameras have been used widely in many industries for decades: Soldiers find targets through heat-vision rifle sights, police mount them on helicopters to search for people on the ground and contractors use the sensors to look for cold air seeping into homes. Now you can buy a simple smartphone attachment to reveal the widely varying temperatures of the people and things around you. Maybe you’re not up for hunting Arnold Schwarzenegger, like the heat-seeing alien hunter in the classic 1987 film “Predator.” There are many practical home uses for the latest thermal camera accessories from Flir and Seek, too:...

One would think that Catholic priests like Chicago’s Rev. Michael Pfleger, an early supporter of Barack Obama and his push for gun control, would not be bearing false witness against one of his neighbors. Yet there he was standing in front of Chuck’s Gun Shop in suburban Riverdale, Illinois, to blame it, and other legal businesses like it, along with the National Rifle Association, for the murder spree in the gun-controlled progressive worker’s paradise of Chicago. Standing with the camera-shy Rev. Jesse Jackson and the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence president Dan Gross in front of the gun shop,...

Over the weekend, by way of the NRA some troubling news spread across the Internet: “Commonly used and unregulated Internet discussions and videos about guns and ammo could be closed down under rules proposed by the State Department, amounting to a ‘gag order on firearm-related speech,'” This stems from an Obama Regime reinterpretation of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). The State Department is updating the ITAR, which implements the Federal Arms Export Control Act (AECA). The net effect of this new ITAR amplification would be to reclassify gun blogs, forums, chat rooms, and firearms “how-to” web pages as...
