Pizza delivery people have a very dangerous job. I do not know that anyone has quantified how often they get in vehicle accidents, or how often they are held up, beat up, or killed by robbers, but it seems to be a regular occurrence. A little known fact is that the modern bullet resistant vest was invented because of a pizza delivery holdup that turned into a shootout. Richard Davis, who invented the Second Chance vest, and made a company and a fortune out of it, used to deliver pizzas. He carried a gun in a spare pizza box...

A few days ago, I wrote about a modest reform to stop the waste of valuable resources occurring at Indiana gun turn in programs, also known as "buy backs". "Buy backs" is a misnomer, as the guns were never owned by the people who are buying them in the programs. The reform was a simple one: as tax dollars are expended in these turn in programs, instead of the valuable assets that are collected being destroyed as a primitive symbolic measure, once the guns have been taken off the streets, they should be sold to legal dealers. This returns...

Representative Jim Lucas, R-Seymore, has introduced a bill to reform Indiana law that restricts self defense in or near schools. The bill HB1048, aims to do a number of things, such as allow people to possess firearms that are locked in vehicles on school property, change the definition of school property for firearms offenses to the actual buildings rather than all the real estate owned by the school, and perhaps most interestingly, decriminalize "roaming school zones". What are "roaming school zones", you might ask? In 2013, the Indiana legislature passed a bill dealing with school safety. It included a...

Picture from the Gary Police Department, for the August 2012 event. 129 firearms were turned in. Gary, Indiana, will be having a gun turn in even on Saturday, 23 November, 2013. While these events are commonly labeled with the propaganda term "buyback" the guns were never owned by the people attempting to buy them. Gary has had these events in May 2012, August, 2012, October, 2012, December 2012, and possibly others. These turn-in events usually bring in between 50 and 130 firearms, some of them quite valuable. The event will be held at six churches in the area: Trinity...

INDIANAPOLIS/HOUSTON – An Indiana native wants to arm law-abiding citizens in high crime areas throughout Indianapolis with free shotguns in an effort to help people protect their homes and families. Kyle Coplen was born and raised in Rochester, Indiana. He studied at Ball State University and then moved to Houston, Texas, to continue his eduction. Earlier this year, he created the Armed Citizen Project (ACP), as part of a thesis project that will provide research for his theory that firearms can deter crime. “Guns are used to stop over four million crimes a year. Ninety percent of the time that...

"Regulars say goodbye to Bloomington's second oldest restaurant....That Wednesday in September, the owner didn’t know what to do with himself. The smell of frying oil, the same greasy perfume that had greeted customers for 46 years, wafted into his nose as he wandered past the vinyl booths. He sat down, then stood up again. Bud — everyone called him Bud — checked on the dwindling supply of breakfast sausage, peered into the nearly empty freezers, tried to explain to his regulars why it had to be this way........"

There was a time we respected our presidents, for the most part. They in turn served the public interest, at least to some extent. At one time, kids saw presidents as heroes. Presidents generally sought to be unifying forces promoting traditional American values, including respect for the God of love, the flag, and the Constitution. That was before presidents started behaving like abusive husbands, thugs, and merchants of immorality. Presently, the point is well made considering the debacle known as the ObamaCare. So far, the law is accomplishing the exact opposite of everything promised: all the lies clearly revealed. Instead...

A home invasion suspect is dead and a left homeowner terribly shaken. That homeowner was fast asleep when police say Jason Rabe, 23, of Three Oaks Twp. But silver bars, video equipment and other valuables were left untouched, according to local Fox affiliate KDFW, which aired security camera footage of the suspected burglars entering and leaving the offices around the time of the incident.

Knives are arms protected by the Second Amendment of the Constitution. Some contend that the ban on knives that can be easily be opened with one hand, by the push of a button,(switchblades) was prompted by the play and movie "West Side Story". I call these sort of laws, "trendy laws", laws that make no sense logically, but are passed as a sort of trendy effect pushed by the media. The newtimes notes: Indiana's upcoming end to its decades-old ban on switchblades has spurred some of the state's gun stores to start taking pre-orders for the spring-loaded knives. State lawmakers...

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - An Evansville man who held two home invasion suspects at gunpoint until police arrived shared his story with 14 News.
