Ramadan has just begun, and I must admit that it starts with no small amount of dread for me. Fasting, an essential pillar of ritual in Islam, consists of abstaining from food, drink and other sensual pleasures from dawn (before sunrise) until dusk. ...Throughout this month, Americans will see Shariah law, which some want to ban, being practiced by the throngs of Muslims in the United States who are waiting until after sunset to eat, drink and be (very) merry. There is no threat at all in this. By making American Muslims better neighbors, better friends, better coworkers, and better...

LONDON — Abu Sohaib spends most of his time online these days, following the news from his native Libya. He is in constant contact with friends on the ground there, helping them map out strategy to fight the rule of Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi. “I would like to be there myself; I tried to go,” he said, pausing to look at the car keys in front of him. “But Tunisia and Egypt wouldn’t let me in even after their revolution.” Abu Sohaib, his nom de guerre, is on a watch list for suspected terrorists not only in Libya and its neighboring...

On Friday President Barack Hussein Obama informed the US Congress that he intended to sell 125 M-1A1 Abrams Tanks to the Egyptian Military. With the nation of Egypt in turmoil, and the fact that the Muslim Brotherhood is poised to assume total control over Egypt, why would any sane and rational person sell tanks (or any weapon) to a nation bent on not only destroying its neighbor, but who would turn the same weapons on the US to destroy it. From the Jerusalem Post: The US signaled last week that it plans to continue business as usual when it comes...

Newly unsealed court documents reveal new details about a plot to attack a military recruiting center in Seattle. Items seized by federal investigators from the home of accused lead conspirator Abu Khalid Abdul-Latif include plans to attack a U.S. military facility and motivational materials related to alleged atrocities committed by American soldiers overseas. The attack on the Seattle military installation is yet another example of a terrorist plot in which American military personnel in the United States have been targeted by Islamist radicals opposed to U.S. military operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere.

Was Huma Abedin — wife of Anthony Weiner and deputy chief of staff to Hillary Clinton — unaware that her mother was reported as a member of the Muslim Brotherhood? Did Western media miss what has been revealed in several Arab newspapers and left secret in American government circles? Al-Liwa Al-Arabi (translated here) claims to have leaked an extensive list, partially published by Al-Jazeera and several other major Arab newspapers, that includes Huma’s mother, Saleha Abedin, in the Brotherhood’s secret women’s division — known as the Muslim Sisterhood or International Women’s Organization (IWO).

Dozens of mosques around the United States have been identified in a new study as incubators for jihad against America, with more than 80 percent of those surveyed advocating violence. "Of the 100 mosques surveyed, 51 percent had texts on-site rated as severely advocating violence; 30 percent had texts rated as moderately advocating violence; and 19 percent had no violent texts at all," said the survey compiled by Mordechai Kedar and David Yerushalmi and published by the Middle East Quarterly. "How's this for a wake-up call?" asked Frank Gaffney, chief of the Center for Security Policy in a commentary today...

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) — Two people were stabbed in a seemingly random attack at a Twin Cities library. After the incident Wednesday night at the Oxboro Library in Bloomington, 35-year-old Samira Abdalla Salim was arrested. Salim was no stranger to the Oxboro Library. She had a reputation for handing out the Koran and talking religion outside the building. “They had some issues with her harassing other patrons,” said Bloomington Police Commander Mark Stehlik. But it’s what investigators say she did on Wednesday night that surprised everyone. “I never thought she would do that. She was very nice,” said Anisa Ahmed, Salim’s neighbor. ...

Those who camped out in Tahrir Square side by side with Muslims to call for national renewal now fear their struggle is being hijacked by ultra-conservative Salafist Islamists with no one to stop them. "We did not risk our lives to bring Mubarak down in order to have him replaced by Salafists,"... Sectarian tensions are not new to Egypt, where Christians make up around 10 percent of the population of 80 million. But the frequency and intensity of clashes have increased since Mubarak's overthrow. ... Christians say no one has been tried yet for the burning of a church in...

SANAA, May 25 (Xinhua) -- The Yemeni aviation authorities on Wednesday closed the International Sanaa Airport, suspending all departing flights and diverting incoming planes to other airports due to the intensification of street clashes between government forces and gunmen of a powerful opposition tribal leader. "International Sanaa Airport suspended all arriving and departing flights on Wednesday as incoming planes of Sanaa were diverted to airports in southern the country, such as Aden airport and others," an official of the aviation authorities told Xinhua. He said on condition of anonymity that the step came "upon directions from the Yemeni political leadership."...

The Palestinian Siege on the Church of the Nativity The overwhelming smell of urine was the first thing to hit visitors to Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity after the dramatic and bloody 39-day siege of the compound by the Islamists in 2002. The Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem reeked of urine and was strewn with dirty pots and pans, leftover food and mattresses after the Islamist siege in 2002. A Franciscan study hall next to the church which had been gutted by a fire. Pots, pans, blankets, wrappers and filth was strewn around the ancient floor of the historic...

Violent clashes broke out around the world today as thousands of supporters of Osama bin Laden took to the streets to protest at the Al-Qaeda leader's death. While many protests took place across the Muslim world, the most extraordinary took place in London, where hundreds of supporters gathered at the U.S. embassy to stage a mock 'funeral service' for the slain terror leader. The violence erupted just days after the city - often dubbed London-istan because of its reputation for Islamic extremism - was branded a major recruiting ground for Al Qaeda. Dozens of police officers struggled with protesters who...

Islamists in Bosnia were supported by Bill ClintonEx-president of America, Bill Clinton, welcomed the news that Osama bin Laden was killed and he gave quotes to the “blinkered media.” This is the same Bill Clinton who welcomed the forces of radical Islam in the Balkans by giving Islamists the green light. It could be stated that Bill Clinton would prefer a dead Osama bin Laden because dead men do not speak. However, the Bosnian Muslim leadership, alongside radical Islamic organizations and several nations, had a shared policy which met the objectives of Clinton’s administration. Therefore, thousands of passports were given...

Libyan Rebels Terrorize Black Africans (disturbing video linked in article) http://frontpagemag.com/2011/04/22/libyan-rebels-terrorize-black-africans/ One of the least known aspects of the current Libyan conflict is its brutal, racial component. Media reports claim Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi is using black African mercenaries in his war against the rebels. In retaliation, the insurgents have targeted in violent attacks African immigrant workers living in Libya, from whom, the rebels believe, Gaddafi is recruiting his mercenaries. Before the uprising began, an estimated 1.5 million Africans resided in Libya, many as low-paid labourers, but the violence has caused a large number to flee the country or to...

MOGADISHU, Somalia -African Union peacekeepers who launched an offensive seven weeks ago have expanded their control of Mogadishu to around half the Somali capital. They've gotten so close to Islamic insurgents that the soldiers can hear them cock their rifles before counterattacks. But the campaign has come at a dear cost. Officials tell The Associated Press that more than 50 peacekeepers have been killed, along with an unknown number of Somali dead. The casualty rate is so high that the AU has not announced it, saying that is the responsibility of Uganda and Burundi, the two countries that currently contribute...

The secular reformers and twentysomething urbanites at the vanguard of the Jan. 25 revolution have found themselves eclipsed. The Muslim Brotherhood's calls for a relatively mainstream Islamic government appeals to its majority of educated and professional members. In Egypt's first taste of true democracy, the Brotherhood and more fundamentalist Salafist organizations, however, told followers that it was their religious duty to vote to approve a referendum on constitutional amendments that benefited Islamists by speeding up elections. The protests in Cairo's Tahrir Square that ended with Mubarak retiring to his villa on the Red Sea riveted the Middle East. That drama...

If you believed that the Muslim Brotherhood would sit back and watch this opportunity pass them by you were horribly naive. The disciplined and organized Islamist groups in Egypt are already stealing the revolution from the youth groups. An Egyptian protester shouts slogans at Tahrir Square in Cairo April 1, 2011. Thousands of demonstrators gathered in Tahrir Square calling for the demands of the revolution that toppled former president Hosni Mubarak from power to be met. (REUTERS/Mohamed Abd El-Ghany) Today thousands of protesters rallied in Tahrir Square in Cairo. But it may be too late. CNN reported: Thousands of demonstrators...

In September, I wrote about the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops‘ [USCCB] endorsement of an ‘interfaith letter‘ that was co-signed by radical Wahhabists from the Islamic Society of North America [ISNA] and various representatives of the radical Religious Left. Real Muslim reformers like Dr. Zuhdi Jasser did not sign the statement addressing ‘anti-Muslim prejudice’. Cardinal McCarrick now acknowledges public criticism of the particular Muslims that the bishops have sought to make relationships with–and he is defending that relationship. Have the bishops been duped? Or is the leftist political agenda really more important to them than protecting America from terrorism?...

I'm flabbergasted to hear people I normally agree with be so optimistic about the current upheaval. I am actually shouting at my television. I am watching Fox News Sunday, and politicians and pundits with whom I normally agree — Newt Gingrich, John McCain, Joe Lieberman, and Bill Kristol — are all making me crazy with their advice on Libya. Each seems to believe that success in America’s latest foreign adventure is predicated on taking out Moammar Gaddafi, and they are all blaming President Obama and Secretary Robert Gates for failing to grasp the obvious. So now I’m yelling: “Guys, the...
