MOSUL, Iraq -- Jennifer Guay went to war to be a grunt. And the 170-pound former bartender from Leeds, Maine, with cropped red hair and a penchant for the bench press, has come pretty close. It was mid-February and Guay, 26, an Army specialist who was the first woman to be assigned as an infantry combat medic, was spending 10 hours a day on missions with the 82nd Airborne Division, dodging rockets and grenades in the crowded streets of Mosul. "Break-break-break: U.S. soldier down!" a hard-edged voice came over the radio. A gun battle had just broken out. In less...

Many argue that communism will never be possible because of "human nature". The essence of this false argument is the belief that a communist society would consist of an all-powerful central government that would tell everybody what to do--and would therefore undermine the creative initiative of individuals and the search for happiness. • This argument is based on two false assumptions: (1) It assumes that a communist society will look like the former Soviet Union, or the current China, North Korea, etc (ie: corrupt police states with a feudal-style ruling class) (2) It assumes that people will only work in...

I generally have a list of articles I think would be of interest to conservatives that I post to FR. I search to see if the article has been posted before, and if not go ahead and post. Not surprisingly, some percentage of what I would post has already been posted, in which case I get a chance to join an already started discussion on the article. But sometimes the article has been posted at a relatively dead time on FR and generates precious few views and replies. In such a situation the choices are to repost, which is a...

I work for a website I think some of you are familiar with called phantirath weekly world news and each time we put somthing up on FR no matter how conservative it is it keeps getting banned. I thought you guys...

The purpose of FreeRepublic.com's multiple message boards is to limit the topics for each board to particular topics. Posting the same message on all the boards defeats the purpose of multiple-boards for special topics. It is very annoying to see the same message on every bulletin board. PLEASE! DO THE READERS A FAVOR. STOP CROSS-POSTING YOUR MESSAGES!

This is the 1st edition of a thread dealing with Keywords and Ping-lists. Farmfriend has put something together dealing with ping lists, which will be posted as a reply below. Also I will be doing updates posted as a reply to this thread so scroll down for the most complete lists. If you are reading an article and want more information you can often find related threads by clicking on a Keyword appearing at the bottom of that article. You can also do a Keyword search. Search results are listed in the order the Keywords were added which may not...

Special ReportBanned by AOL Print Friendly Format E-Mail this to a Friend By Published 12/22/2003 12:05:50 AM For more than three years, I've run a weblog about religion, politics -- the usual non-dinner-table topics. And each December, regular as Rudolph, I diss Kwanzaa. The fake "African harvest festival" (invented by a Marxist black supremacist ex-con in 1972) is now celebrated by school kids in place of Hanukah and Christmas. Call me crazy, but I don't like that one bit. So earlier this month, I knocked off a bit of doggerel about Kwanzaa and posted it to my site. That's when the spam hit the filter....

<p>Keywords. You've seen them. You love them. Maybe you have even abused them.</p>
<p>Please don't abuse keywords. There are children in China doing without keywords.</p>
<p>1) Having who added what keyword be revealed at the whim of sadistic moderators, such as myself.</p>

Who would have suspected that George W. Bush, a president who came into office vowing to "change the tone" of the meretricious Clinton era (a dark age when America howled under the twin lashes of peace and prosperity), would emerge as the country's leading exponent of situational ethics? Maybe true conservatives always understood. Ever since Ronald Reagan ended his second term with the Department of Education still intact, it's been clear how little even a committed ideologue can achieve in real politics. So it's hardly surprising that Bush, who ran the most content-free campaign since some nameless William Henry Harrison...

You now have the ability to add keywords to existing articles. In the KEYWORD column, click "Add Keyword" to access the form. You must be logged in to use this function. For security and cleanup duty, keywords added via "Add Keyword" are logged with your user id, though currently only moderators can view this information (though that may change in the future.) Use this feature as an ad hoc topic system and replacement for the deprecated bump list register.
