Airport Security: One If By Land, None If By Sea. We're safe from pocket knives, nail files, and scissors, but the TSA has a long way to go protecting our airports from terrorists wearing Speedos or armed with fish hooks. Last week, JFK International was invaded by three people (one adult and two kids) who had been fishing in Jamaica Bay. They beached their raft, and then wandered around the supposedly-secure airport operations area for over an hour before anybody noticed. Plenty of time to have a fish-fry. (New York-WABC, August 17, 2003) — Tense moments at LaGuardia Airport Saturday night. Passengers on an American Airlines flight had to be taken off the plane after officials became concerned about a passenger. After everyone left the plane, Port Authority Police had it taken off the runway. The Port Authority is still investigating the incident.

<p>June 14, 2003 -- An emotionally disturbed man bared it all yesterday when he scaled a fence and scurried around naked at La Guardia Airport, cops said.</p> <p>The 27-year-old man, whose name was withheld, climbed over a blast fence, a barrier at the east end of the airport that redirects the high-speed air as a jet takes off. He managed to run about 10 feet down a grassy landscape before he was spotted by Delta Air Lines employees.</p>
