Republican Debbie Lesko won the House special election in Arizona Tuesday night, holding off a closer-than-expected Democratic challenge in a district that President Donald Trump won by 21 points in 2016. Lesko had 53 percent of the vote when The Associated Press called the race an hour after the polls closed, with over 155,000 early votes tallied. Democrat Hiral Tipirneni had 47 percent of the vote. But Lesko’s single-digit margin is the latest evidence that Republicans face a punishing midterm environment, even in Trump-friendly territory. Lesko’s victory comes on the heels of losses for Republicans in southwestern Pennsylvania, where Democratic...

Former President Barack Obama says he aspires to create "a million young Barack Obamas or Michelle Obamas" who will pick up the baton in what he describes as the "relay race that is human progress." At a conference in Japan on Sunday, the former president spoke about how he hopes the Obama Foundation, a nonprofit formed in January 2014, will help achieve his post-presidential aims. "After I left office, what I realized is that the Obama Foundation could potentially create a platform for young, up-and-coming leaders, both in the United States and all around the world to come together, meet...

Self-identified "national socialist" Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) couldn't let Rep. Joe Kennedy III (D-Mass.) speak for him in the Democratic response to Donald Trump's first State of the Union address. But, in a perfect metaphor for his economic system, Sanders' own response experienced "technical difficulties." For almost a full three minutes, Sanders' response was down, and the screen read, "We will be back momentarily!" "Well, as they say, technology is great when it works, so if you're still with us, we appreciate it very much," the socialist senator said when the video started again. So long as Sanders' team doesn't...

President Trump reportedly told then-acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe that he should ask his wife, who had lost a bid for political office in Virginia, how it felt to be a loser, NBC News reported Monday. Trump made the remarks in a phone call to McCabe the day he fired FBI Director James Comey that was placed to demand why Comey was allowed to fly on a FBI plane from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C., after being fired. McCabe told Trump that he hadn’t been asked about the flight but that he would have authorized it if he had. Trump...

Chuck Schumer started a government shutdown he couldn’t finish. The New York Democrat, among the shrewdest operators in national politics, stumbled badly because he succumbed to the siren song of the anti-Trump Resistance. He believed any charge could be made to stick to President Trump, no matter how implausible, and chose the dictates of an inflamed Democratic base over common sense. His embarrassing climbdown after a short, mostly weekend shutdown shows the limits of the Resistance. Yes, an anti-Trump midterm wave appears to be building and Democratic activists — marching in the streets by the thousands and badgering Republicans at...

Demonstrations took a weird turn early Sunday, when the Jacksonville Jaguars playing an NFL "exchange" game in the U.K. took a knee in protest during the Star Spangled Banner. They then stood for God Save the Queen. Both teams owners tweeted support for protesting players, explaining that they were behind their athletes "100%."

The Browns secured their 0-16 season after losing to a Pittsburgh Steelers team that featured mostly backups on the road. The Browns had their chances at avoiding the wrong type of perfection, and just fell short in a 28-24 loss. As only the Browns could, the game was filled with highs and lows. Of course, as most Browns games do, it ended with a low so deep that you could only feel bad for the Browns. Their first possession was a disaster. I suppose things could have been worse, like throwing a pick-six on the first play or fumbling it...

Things are not looking good for the DNC. Not only did they get hit with another FEC complaint this week, they closed November millions in debt after the lowest fundraising in 10 years. In contrast, the RNC closed November with a surplus according to the FEC. According to a report by The Daily Caller, this was the worst November for the DNC going back to 2007. The DNC has struggled to raise money all year.

The big loser in Tuesday's Alabama's special Senate election was not the Republican Party. They had already lost weeks ago, the moment the Washington Post wrote their (carefully vetted, in this instance) exposé of the thirty-year-old sexual proclivities of Judge Roy Moore.

Three of President Trump's female accusers spoke with NBC's Megyn Kelly Monday about their experiences, all claiming he took advantage of them sexually. Former beauty pageant contestant Samntha Holvey alleged that Trump made her feel like "a piece of meat," Rachel Crooks, a former receptionist, claimed he forcibly kissed her, and Jessica Leeds, a traveling saleswoman, says he groped and kissed her on an airplane. The White House has dismissed them as "false claims," as Kelly reiterated on her show. These women's stories, however, were enough to convince Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) that the president needs to step down "immediately." Should...

RUSH: Did you hear about poor John McCain? I don’t know why, because I don’t care enough to dig into why. All I know is that McCain req… (interruption) What? (interruption) I’m just… (interruption) He requested a… He wanted to get to three million followers on Twitter or Facebook. I don’t know why. Is that a crime, not knowing why? They’re telling me, “Be careful what you say.” I don’t know why he wants three million followers. It’s not the point. The point is when he requested it, many of the people following him dropped. They stopped following him. He...

"Roy Moore in the US Senate would be a stain on the GOP and on the nation. Leigh Corfman and other victims are courageous heroes. No vote, no majority is worth losing our honor, our integrity," Romney tweeted Monday in reference to the women who have come forward accusing Moore of sexual assault and harassment....."

The New York Giants benched Eli Manning on Tuesday afternoon. Perhaps you heard. Manning has been the face of the franchise since 2004, starting every game since Week 11 that year, 210 of them plus another 10 playoff games and two Super Bowls (that they won). It was shocking to hear that Manning would not be under center for the 2-9 Giants when they take the field on Sunday against the Raiders.

Sen. John McCain said Hillary Clinton erred in writing her account of the 2016 presidential race so quickly and noted her problem is that “she doesn’t have anything to do.” “One of the almost irresistible impulses you have when you lose is to somehow justify why you lost and how you were mistreated: ‘I did the right thing! I did!’ The hardest thing to do is to just shut up,” the Arizona Republican told Esquire magazine in an interview published Sunday. McCain, who announced last month that his memoir “The Restless Wave” will come out in April and cover parts...

WASHINGTON SQUARE PARK, NY — A collective scream Wednesday marked a year since Donald Trump was elected leader of the U.S. Hundreds of New Yorkers gathered for the anniversary, crowding into Washington Square Park Wednesday night and howling at the top of their lungs. The cathartic group wail was the only release that would satisfy some New Yorkers after the year that's passed since Trump defeated Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. New Yorkers overwhelmingly supported Clinton during the 2016 presidential elections with all boroughs except Staten Island casting most of their votes for her – 79 percent of ballots. The crowds...

If you watched the Philadelphia Eagles 28-23 win over the Carolina Panthers on Thursday Night Football last night you would have seen the home turf team’s Luke Kuechly exit the game in the second quarter due to a possible concussion. However, despite a potential move by the NFL to disallow protest by players during the national anthem, one thing you would have not seen on TNF on CBS and the NFL Network last night was the playing of the national anthem.

Washington (CNN) - President Donald Trump's tweets Sunday morning claiming he denied Sen. Bob Corker's request for an endorsement are false, two sources familiar with the discussions said. Trump told Corker he was going to endorse him the day the Tennessee Republican announced his intention to retire, the sources said. "The President called the senator early last week and asked him to reconsider his decision not to seek re-election and reaffirmed that he would have endorsed him, as he has said many times," one of the sources said.
