Stressing the need to serve society in remarks aimed at projecting the image of strong leadership, Bush received an enthusiastic welcome from the faculty and 3,200-member graduating class of Louisiana State University. USC today was offered a chance by Poway-based Gateway to end all doubt about who really is college football's national champion for the 2003 season. PETA wants LSU, Southern to free mascots 10:48 AM CST on Wednesday, October 29, 2003 Associated Press Baton Rouge -- An animal rights group is asking LSU and Southern University to release their mascots. That, in light of a recent tiger attack on a famous animal trainer in Las Vegas. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals recently sent letters to the schools, asking that LSU turn over Mike the Tiger and SU turn over its resident jaguar, Lacumba, to an approved wildlife sanctuary. <p>BATON ROUGE - A professor at Louisiana State University has been accused of sending threatening letters to herself and pulling police away from the investigation into the South Louisiana serial killer case, authorities say.</p> <p>University police arrested Deidra W. Frazier at her Baker home Wednesday. She was released on bond after being booked on 16 counts of criminal mischief and one count of terrorizing.</p>

Quarterback David Woodley Dead at 44 May 6, 2:52 PM (ET) SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - David Woodley, who started at quarterback for the Miami Dolphins in the 1983 Super Bowl, died at 44. He died Sunday, the Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Shreveport said Tuesday. The cause of death had not been determined, brother Joe Woodley told The (Shreveport) Times. David Woodley played four seasons in Miami, including the Dolphins' 27-17 loss to Washington in the Super Bowl. He also played one season in Pittsburgh.
