The MIT police officer who was executed in his patrol car on Friday morning was drawn into a trap by the Boston Marathon bombing suspects - who killed him for his gun - it has been claimed.Sean Collier, 27, died from multiple gunshot wounds in the early morning hours of Friday as he responded to a noise complaint.The motivation for that murder was at first unclear, but police now believe that the suspects shot him in order to steal his gun.

One of the Boston Bombers has been caught after a fierce firefight with police officers. According to police, the suspect who shot multiple police officers at MIT this evening was one of the bombers. Armed to the teeth, the suspect fired on police late Thursday night into Friday morning. Early reports say he killed one officer in cold blood, while also injuring other law enforcers. At least one heavily armed assailant with “grenades” and “explosives” is loose near MIT’s campus, according to police dispatchers and the school’s emergency website, and police say are looking for “dark-skinned” and possibly “Middle Eastern” suspects. Latest 06.10 (01.10) This is a completely chaotic scene. Earlier tonight two "Middle-eastern-looking men with guns" hijacked a Mercedes in Cambridge. They drove to a petrol station where the victim of the car jacking was able to escape. Fox News just interrupted their broadcast of Gretta with the announcement that gunfire has erupted on the MIT campus at Building 32. The incident is considered "active" at this time.

MIT issued an emergency alert at 10:48 on Thursday night reporting shots fired on the university campus. The school newspaper reports, "Shots fired near 32 Vassar St (Stata Center), police officer down. Please stay inside." That report is backed up by CBS News's Bonney Kapp who reports hearing "officer down" on the police scanner just before the MIT alert went out. For now, details are scarce, but the suspect is on the loose and considered armed and extremely dangerous.
