In a Suffolk University/USA TODAY survey released on Tuesday, Americans said they do not want gun control to be a “significant subject” in the 2016 elections, by a margin of 52 to 43. The survey was conducted from June 25 to June 29, just over a week after the heinous attack in Charleston by alleged gunman Dylann Roof. According to Suffolk University, in addition to not wanting to hear about gun control in 2016, a majority of Americans do not believe increasing gun control via expanded background checks will curb mass violence. Clarke, a registered Democrat, is disgusted that it is politics as usual because the mayor will never sit down and try to compromise with the Republicans. The guy who runs the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence’s Facebook page is a nasty f%&k. He constantly posts links, pics and comments that treat gun owners like vermin. By doing so, he encourages anti-gunners to pour anti-ballistic bile onto their fellow Americans. His rhetoric antagonizes gun owners – by intent – hardening into hatred toward those who gladly, indeed enthusiastically infringe on their right to keep and bear arms. That said, the CSGV mostly tries to sugar-coat their contempt. Except when the mask slips and they don’t. This is one of those times. And here’s some of the feedback...

When the Oregon Senate passed expanded background checks on April 14, it marked a change from 2013 and 2014–when the same type of legislation was taken up but defeated without even making it to the floor for a vote. What was the difference in 2015? One huge differences was the influx of Michael Bloomberg’s money into the state, which showed itself not only in the establishment of an apparatus to help gun control candidates get elected but also in gifts to gun control senator Chuck Riley (D-Hillsboro).

On Saturday, a few dozen misguided marchers straggled across the Brooklyn bridge, demanding that more Americans be disarmed. Notice the widely debunked "120" school shooting meme in the sign. When you have to resort to easily disproved lies, your "movement" has no moral validity. Consider, in a city of 12 million, in the heart of the densest support for citizen disarmament in the country, in a legal regime that has stifled the right to bear arms with numerous infringements for a century, this morally bankrupt astroturf organization is able to attract, pay, or bully only a few dozen marchers.

NEW YORK (AP) — Hundreds of men, women and children including fashion designer Donna Karan marched across the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday demanding stricter gun laws and offering a litany of violent stories to show why such laws are needed. Held on the eve of Mother's Day, the third annual march from Brooklyn to Manhattan was organized by the group Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) final report on death statistics for 2013 shows there were 35,369 deaths from motor vehicle accidents versus 505 deaths from the accidental discharge of firearms. That is not a typo—35,369 versus 505. Americans are 70 times more likely to die in a vehicle accident than by the accidental discharge of a firearm. Yet Michael Bloomberg, Moms Demand Action, and Everytown for Gun Safety have not uttered a peep about Ford, Dodge, or Toyota control. They are utterly consumed with a new gun control push framed around accidental firearm deaths.

Question: Would expanding background checks to every sale, both retail and private, stop high profile shootings like the one that resulted in Gabby Giffords’ injury or the heinous attack on Sandy Hook Elementary? The answer is no. Expanding background checks will not prevent such attacks as Giffords endured because her attacker passed a background check. And, as Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) explained, expanding background checks would not have stopped Adam Lanza from attacking Sandy Hook because he stole his guns, thereby purposely circumventing all gun controls.

It’s always nice to see an unexpected win like this especially given Boston U’s own general positions on armed self defense on its campus. But what has me scratching my head is that ASCRI’s proposal specifically targeted manufacturers who make firearms for civilians.
