How he can fight back against a disastrous economy and a swaggering Republican Party. -snip- Which brings us to the president's latest opportunity to reset the debate: his jobs speech on Thursday night. He will need to demonstrate a boldness we haven't seen from him in some time. The speech must be a new State of the Union, an articulation of what we need to do to get the engines working again. -snip- A few suggestions for what he could propose: 1. Redefine the entire tax code—eliminate all the loopholes, lower marginal rates, and eliminate all differentiation between capital gains...

For those who are wondering what the DC Chapter is doing now that Walter Reed’s Friday Night Support the Troops Rallies are done, we, or some of us, are still going strong in Olney, Maryland. We just completed our 293rd Saturday in Olney. While DC Chapter members are not always present due to FReeps in DC, including 9/12 and Tea Party rallies and Beck’s 8/28 rally, the local American Legion fills in. We started the Olney Rally after some FReepers coming to the DC Chapter’s 2005 Christmas Party saw the moonbats on the corner. We were soon out on the...

Using ambush tactics and perverting political protest into a beast more akin to anarchy, liberal activists, most of them from outside of Carroll County, turned U.S. Sen. Charles Grassley’s town hall meeting at New Hope Village Monday into a hostile environment, a showcasing of the rock-bottom worst contemporary America inspires in far too many of its people. Not content to interrupt and hurl insults at the senator during the public forum, the mob that is Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement (CCI) crowded Grassley, 77, in the hallway, blocking his entrance to a post-event media interview, and later, used physicality to...

WTF is Sarah Palin doing in a Patriots hoodie? I don’t know what bothers me more, that the shirt says “Once a Patriot always a Patriot” (because when was she ever a Patriots fan?) or that she’s just another politician stealing our name to appear “patriotic”. Note the girl in the foreground with the aptly-labelled “Alaska Grown”. That girl is the only thing in this picture that’s not full of s---, and that includes the hot dogs.

It's apparently not enough for Newsweek to slam 2012 presidential hopeful Rep. Michele Bachmann as the "Queen of Rage." Daily Beast/Newsweek's Michelle Goldberg went a few more steps off the deep end yesterday by exploring how the Minnesota Republican, and, for good measure Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) are Christian theocrats-in-waiting: [O]f the three most plausible candidates for the Republican nomination, two are deeply associated with a theocratic strain of Christian fundamentalism known as Dominionism. If you want to understand Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry, understanding Dominionism isn’t optional. Put simply, Dominionism means that Christians have a God-given right to...

Ex MSNBC host Keith Olbermann has given a revealing interview to The Hollywood Reporter, which includes the amazing tidbit that Olbermann’s new job in the cable wilderness of Current TV will pay him ten million dollars a year (with the possibility of banking $100 million over the course of his five year contract)–a staggering figure that dwarfs his MSNBC salary (and THR reports that “Current TV disputes the figure but adds it does not “disclose confidential, contractual details”). Olbermann, who discussed his new show and his departure from MSNBC, said he went on the air January 21 without knowing it...

Twenty FReepers and visitors handled the four corners tonight. Finally, it was a perfect weather-wise evening. The energy on the four corners and from the passing cars made the 323rd consecutive Friday night to support the wounded warriors, a night to remember. VictoryNY and TammyCat really turn up the tempo. It’s hard to believe that there are only four more Friday evenings that dinner buses from Walter Reed will take the troops to Friday night dinners. July 22 is the last Friday night scheduled. After that, the Aleethia Foundation will coordinate these dinners from Bethesda Medical Center. The DC Chapter...

The DC Chapter of Free Republic held its 322st consecutive Friday night rally to support the wounded warriors and their families at Walter Reed. A little cloudy with light showers. No ponchos were needed. The evening started early with two big ambulances roaring down Georgia Ave into Walter Reed just as we were setting up. Eleven FReepers and visitors handled the four corners tonight. It was a busy evening with soldiers passing and talking with us. Two wounded warriors who stopped by early on were Grant and Marvin. Grant is in the Navy and Marvin is in the Army. Both...

Here is video of Democrat Howard Dean speaking at the Leftist “Netroots Nation” Conference last week. Dean bashed the Tea Party, people who are “over 55,” “white and Christian,” saying “the future” does not belong to them. Ironically, he accused them of “hate,” referring to them as “religious bigots,” even as he spoke with disdain of all things conservative and Christian.

Yesterday I parked at a Starbucks and while walking to the place noticed a car (no, it was not a Prius) with the stupidest bumper sticker ever. Actually it had two: The first was that COEXIST one which is also stupid. Because the problems we have today aren't because of Christians fighting with Muslims fighting with Jews fighting with Buddhists fighting with Shintos fighting with Zoroastrians fighting with athiests. The problem is freaking Muslims and left-wing socialist-Marxist secular-"progressive" athiests. But I digress. The other bumper sticker was the real stupid one. It said, "It wouldn't kill you to learn Spanish."...

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Allen West (R-FL), has earned the coveted Guardian of Seniors' Rights award from the 60 Plus Association, a national non-partisan organization advocating lower taxes and an adherence to the Constitution. Now in its 19th year, 60 Plus presents Guardian awards each Congress to Democrats and Republicans alike based on their 'pro-senior' views and legislative initiatives. 60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin said, "As seniors, we felt we should show our gratitude to dedicated lawmakers like Representative Allen West who show compassion towards the elderly by pledging to 1) always protect Medicare, 2) always protect Social Security, and...

So today dawned full of glorious sunshine and the promise of celebration of an American Hero: Lt Michael P. Murphy, USN. Heaven’s own light bathed a beautiful river in Maine, alongside which sat DDG-112, soon to be christened in honor of Lt Murphy, who gave his life in support of our nation and our freedoms. More here: What could possibly spoil such a wonderful day? How about a couple dozen of America’s stupid & clueless, the arrogant, narcissistic and terminally adolescent leftists who demand to be heard. Yup: protesters. Moonbats. The political sewage spawned by our public schools and enabled...

Please join our national and worldwide movement to support Black businesses and Black people financially by going out of your way on Wednesdays to spend your money in the Black community. The goal is to support our own businesses every day, but especially on Wednesday! On Black Wednesdays, let’s try not to spend one red cent outside of the Black Family Circle. And, almost as important, let the Black business person you’re supporting know that you support Buy Black Wednesdays. On Black Friday, we literally trample over each other to give our money to others and build up their communities...

When reporting that Ron Paul had defeated mainstream Republican Mitt Romney in the CPAC straw poll, Fox News superimposed archive footage of people booing from last year's event. Bonus Fox misbehavior! When a liberal blogger asked Fox News reporter Jesse Watters for comment on recent claims from an insider that the network makes stuff up, Watters ignored the question and mocked the interviewer's cheap camera. After MSNBC ran the clip, which makes Watters appear evasive and smarmy, Fox produced heavily edited versions of the clip for its own shows, claimed their man was ambushed (he was in fact approached at...

Kansas City police arrested more than 50 protesters this morning as they peacefully marched onto the construction site of the billion-dollar Honeywell plant that will produce parts for nuclear bombs. Police warned the protesters several times to leave, but they refused. Police said the group waited until news cameras arrived and then walked in an orderly fashion toward the plant’s gates. When company officials closed the gates, the protesters surrounded a truck that was trying to leave the property. Protesters held hands and sang hymns before going peacefully with officers. Police transported the arrestees to police headquarters using a police...

Mr Trooprally sent the following report for this week’s after action report: First of all, last night was a lot better than last week NO RAIN ! It was a really good night. The buses did not come till 9:25PM. This Friday night’s Wounded Warrior dinner was held in downtown DC in a restaurant featuring a 10 course meal.(They deserve it). The three children in the pictures were from the surrounding area. They asked if they could have flags. And you will see the ones we gave them in the photo. We also shared some our snacks with them. The...

At the age of 16, Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., suffered the death of his 55-year-old father. Because of his father’s early death, the government made survivor payments for a few years to Paul Ryan’s family – including for Paul Ryan himself. Ryan collected benefits for two years, until he turned 18. The net effect of the death of Paul Ryan’s father was likely to reduce taxpayer expenditures on Ryan’s family, since retirees typically collect at least a decade’s worth of benefits. (My own father died five years short of retirement. The result was that my mother, who could otherwise have...
