A woman who was blinded when a scorned lover threw acid in her eyes has the chance to get a gruesome revenge today. A court in Iran has given permission for 32 year-old Ameneh Bahrami to get her own back by pouring acid in the eyes of her attacker, a fellow student at Tehran University. The court's OId Testament ruling - an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth - has sparked controversy even in Iran where medieval justice still holds sway. But Ameneh still appears bent on revenge.
  • Multiculturalism: everybody seems to know it doesn’t work except Obama

The 60s campus chant of “Hey, Hey, Ho , Ho, Western Civ Has Got to Go, “ doesn’t sound so funny now as we see the inroads multiculturalism has made on our freedoms, our rule of law, our very way of life. In the run up to the Chicago Islam Conference of June 15, 2010, one commenter said, “to re-establish the Khilafah (Caliphate) we need to build an overwhelmingly strong movement within our countries that will overthrow the corrupt rulers from their thrones and bring into place a Khalifah who will implement the Shariah and stand up for the affairs...

Police said four white students at Central York Middle School used racial slurs and harrassed a black student while they rode home on a school bus Friday afternoon. Springettsbury Township Police were called to the school Monday morning to investigate a report of harrassment on the bus. The 13-year old white boys "verbally and physically harrassed and intimidated" a 13-year old black boy, using racial slurs as the bus took the students home, police said. Julie Randall Romig, spokeswoman for the Central York School District, said the district was notified of the harrassment. She declined to discuss details of what...

One of the Church of England's most senior bishops says he fears Islamic extremists are creating "no-go areas" across Britain for non-Muslims. The right Reverend Michael Nazir-Ali, the Church's only Asian bishop, says people of a different race or faith face being attacked in some Muslim areas. In the Sunday Telegraph he criticises the doctrine of multiculturalism for creating separate communities which fail to integrate in to the mainstream of society. In a wide-ranging attack, Dr Nazir-Ali, the Bishop of Rochester, compares intimidation by Muslim radicals to that by far-Right extremists. He questions whether elements of Sharia law are applicable...
  • NO 'O Holy Night'? Think 'Holiday Tree' (SCROOGE ALERT)

This is in regard to the rules for some people who live in housing units for the elderly. They tell them that outside their own living quarters there may be no mangers, no angels and if there is a tree, it is to be called the Holiday Tree. However, the rules for decorating it are popcorn, cranberries, icicles, snowflakes, etc. That isn't too bad but, Holiday Tree? Now get this; for carollers, they may sing "Frosty the Snowman," "Winter Wonderland" but they may not sing "Hark the Herald Angels Sing: or "O Holy Night" or "Away in the Manger." Why...
  • Proud to be among the English-speaking peoples (crappy title - good read)

Proud to be among the English-speaking peoples David Warren, The Ottawa Citizen Published: Wednesday, March 07, 2007 By the word "Anglosphere" we mean the countries whose primary language is English, and whose legal, political, cultural and religious traditions are directly descended from Britain and Magna Carta. Specifically: Britain, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand -- and there was a time when we might have mentioned South Africa, and the English-speaking elites of India and other parts of the former Empire. United by a language, to begin, but through that language with a common-sense view of the world that...

Last week I focused on how high school students are being radicalized against "hate" and in favor of "diversity." This radicalism ends up on college campuses like the one I attended nearly 30 years ago. Angry students, often led by the African Studies Department, would allege racism. People, who would have done well wearing brownshirts in Germany around 1930, would harangue about injustices, real or in most cases, very much imagined. I remember my "Religion and Politics" class being invaded by African Studies students in who were supposedly opposing the insult of Egyptians (an African people by the way) by...

THE typical blond, blue-eyed lifesaver is being challenged by a Victorian Government program to get people from a variety of ethnic backgrounds involved in the volunteer service. The campaign, backed by a $3 million grant, has the double aims of promoting racial tolerance and reducing drownings among people from non-English speaking backgrounds. Acting Premier John Thwaites said today the Victorian Government and Life Saving Victoria had begun recruiting "multicultural ambassadors" to spread water safety messages as part of the state's Play it Safe by the Water campaign. The campaign is being delivered in 15 languages as well as English. "We...

A police media spokesman confirmed there had been problems at Maroubra beach, following the near-riot at Cronulla beach earlier today. "There have been a number of incidents of property damage in the past hour-and-a-half that included broken windows and damage to motor vehicles," he said. Reports on radio station 2GB indicated up to 50 vehicles with passengers armed with "baseball bats" had been causing trouble in Maroubra, in Sydney's east. Police have set up a command post in the area, 2GB reported. Sky News reported that a group of people in cars and with baseball bats, bits of wood and...

ANNAPOLIS -- Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. rejected calls to apologize for his remarks last week describing multiculturalism as "crap" and "bunk." Ehrlich defended his comments on talk radio as "common sense" and declined to apologize Tuesday. "We celebrate our ethnicities quite appropriately," he said, noting that he was once named "German of the Year" for Maryland. But he said multiculturalism, which he defined as separating people into different groups, was wrong. "In America we have a singular culture, common values and a common language," he said. "It's a common history, it's a common culture. ... We should not separate...

ICONOCLAST DAILY NOTEBOOK.... Misunderstanding Evil .... May 11 2003: Today's recommended reading is brief essay on the City Journal Web site by Theodore Dalrymple. The piece is entitled The Morality of Terror. Basically, Dalrymple sums up his thesis in two cogent opening paragraphs: At the recent meeting of the Organization of Islamic Conference in Malaysia, the Malaysian Prime Minister, Dr. Mohammed Mahathir, said 'the causes of bitterness and anger . . . of terrorists should be identified and removed.' He added that people would not be willing to blow themselves up and kill others if they did not have a...
