The Montreal Gazette ^ | Wednesday, November 21, 2012 | Gregory Katz, The Associated Press
London - An extensive report has found high levels of child abuse in England, with more than 2,400 victims during a 14-month period that was scrutinized. The Office of Children's Commission interim study released Wednesday also found about 16,500 additional children are at "high risk" of sexual exploitation based on behavioural changes that were noted. The report, which did not cover Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, is characterized as the largest ever study of child sex abuse in England, and suggested urgent action be taken to better protect vulnerable children. "This report is a wake-up call," said Maggie Atkinson, Children's...
  • Letting Us Down: GOP Losing Susan Rice Debate

For some reason, even after "binders," "birth control," and Big Bird actually did help Obama win a second term, the Republican Party is apparently still under the illusion that, just because the Left and the media launch a Narrative that's objectively false and nonsensical, we don't have to push back against it. But if those exit polls taught us anything, it's that we do. And a lack of pushback is why we're currently losing the Susan Rice debate. While Republicans are off licking their wounds or just taking a break after an exhausting campaign, the Left and the media are...
  • Only 40% of Democrats say Israel is justified to attack Gaza

Only 40 percent of U.S. Democrats believe in the right of self defense, at least when it comes to the Jewish state of Israel, according to a new poll released this week. A new CNN poll shows that only "four in ten Democrats believe that Israel's actions in Gaza are justified." Although 57 percent of U.S. citizens agree that Israel's military response in Gaza against Hamas rocket attacks is justified, only 40 percent of Democrats polled side with Israel. Most Republicans supported Israel with a whopping 74 percent, while 59 percent of independents also supported Israel.

Well my dear friends... we have arrived at another Thanksgiving Day and we as a nation are more unthankful than ever. It is indeed a sign of the times that we as a nation - founded on moral absolutes and the rule of law - are at a final fatal decline. When millions of Americans receive government befits and many of those have no intention of working or being accountable and are addicted to moral relativism and decadence the jig is up my dear friends. This past 2012 election has showed us that it absolutely pays to be slothful, lazy,...
  • Twelve rockets hit Israel after truce: police

AFP - Twelve rockets fired from the Gaza Strip hit Israel on Wednesday in the first hours that followed a ceasefire agreement ending hostilities in the week-long Gaza conflict, a police spokesman told AFP. The Israeli spokesman added that the attacks caused no injuries or damage, with the rockets mostly landing in open fields in the south of the Jewish state. A ceasefire agreement announced in Cairo on Wednesday went into effect at 1900 GMT, requiring both sides to halt fire immediately and for Israel to start opening Gaza's crossings if the truce holds for 24 hours. The Israeli defence...
  • Detroit to go bankrupt in less than a month

The city of Detroit, facing a serious cash crisis, is set to go bankrupt by the end of this year and would put city workers on furlough unless it strikes a deal with the city council that would bring in $30 million before Dec. 14. Detroit has been in financial turmoil for years, losing a quarter of its population in the past decade and facing a shrinking auto industry that has reduced tax revenues. The Detroit City Council gave the mayor the option to hire a financial advisor and in return receive $30 million by the end of the year....

As we head into the Thanksgiving weekend, thousands of families in the northeast face a difficult holiday season. For those still reeling from the effects of Superstorm Sandy, emotions are still raw and futures are uncertain. Reuters photographer Mike Segar visited Staten Island last week, spending time with residents hard-hit by Sandy. He collected not just their portraits but their stories, as they stood amid the wreckage of what had been their homes, businesses, and places of worship. While there was anger and sadness on display, there was also a sense of gratitude for the outpouring of help from afar,...

On September 25, 2012, Lennard Lewis died at his home of a seizure disorder. On the surface it appeared to be of natural causes. That is until East Baton Rouge Coroner William Clark, M.D. began looking around for the reason Lewis had the seizure disorder. The Coroner traced down Lewis's medical records and discovered that he had been shot in the head 20 years ago.
  • Commentary: President Obama 'allegedly' born in U.S., so the story says

News that a small Montana newspaper inserted the word “allegedly” in the midst of an AP news story -- so that it read “Obama was allegedly born in Hawaii” -- caused a small furor Tuesday. But how should we read this latest commentary on the president’s birthright? A) Proof that racism runs rampant in American society. B) Evidence that "birthers" have infiltrated the ranks of the mainstream media. C) An instance of precision from journalists, most of whom have been too willing to accept flimsy proof of President Obama’s birthplace. D) As a window into how bored journalists amuse themselves...
  • How the New York Times Covers Evil

    Bernardgoldberg.com ^ | November 20, 2012 | Dennis Prager
The way in which the New York Times reports good vs. evil is one of the most important stories of our time. Take the war between Israel and Hamas that is taking place right now. This war is as morally clear as wars get. Hamas is a terrorist organization dedicated to annihilating the Jewish state. It runs a theocratic totalitarian state in Gaza, with no individual liberty and no freedom of speech or press. In a nutshell, Hamas is a violent, fascist organization. Israel, meanwhile, is one the world’s most humane states, not to mention a democracy that is so...

A while back, when the president and Republicans couldn’t agree on whether it was day or night or what day it was, I came up with this brilliant idea: Republicans should give Barack Obama everything he wants. And by everything, I meant … everything. You want higher taxes on the wealthy, Mr. President even though that might lead us into another recession? You got it. You want to pass healthcare reform that will raise about 20 new taxes and keep the economy in the doldrums? We won’t waste your time, and ours, fighting over it. Whatever else you want, Mr....

CALGARY - With a glut of Canadian crude being produced, the nation's network of pipelines have reached their capacity, says a spokesman for Canada's top oil mover. While analysts had expected to squeeze a few more years out of existing pipeline infrastructure, Enbridge spokesman Todd Nogier said those lines are now full, prompting the need to build more. "I think it really underlines the importance of building pipeline infrastructure," Nogier said. "The supply is rising exponentially, not just in the oilsands, but in the U.S. as well." The revelation comes while two significant projects — Enbridge's Northern Gateway pipeline and...

Pennsylvania's Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) is slashing the hours of 400 adjunct instructors, support staff, and part-time instructors to dodge paying for Obamacare. "It's kind of a double whammy for us because we are facing a legal requirement [under the new law] to get health care and if the college is reducing our hours, we don't have the money to pay for it," said adjunct biology professor Adam Davis. On Tuesday, CCAC employees were notified that Obamacare defines full-time employees as those working 30 hours or more per week and that on Dec. 31 temporary part-time employees will...

The party numbers are pretty much the same, but the congressional Democrats are far more liberal, and the Republicans are much closer to traditional constitutionalism. What to Expect From the New Congress The New American 21 November 2012 The election results were not even finished being tallied by the time the left-wing, establishment media began telling constitutionalist Republicans that the path to electoral success was to sell out their principles before the next election, call themselves “moderates,” and adopt every aspect of the far-left Democratic political agenda. Though Mitt Romney had no discernible difference on principles from Barack Obama...

The goal was to get Jack Taylor out of a shooting slump. He did that. Then he went out and scored the most points ever in a college basketball game. Taylor, a Black River Falls High School graduate, is about to get his 15 minutes of national fame after scoring an NCAA-record 138 points for Grinnell College in a 179-104 victory over Faith Baptist Bible College on Tuesday night in Grinnell, Iowa... Ah, Thanksgiving. A time for Americans to come together, be grateful for their blessings—and tell people with different politics to stuff it? That's apparently Ed Schultz's take on the holiday. On his MSNBC show this evening, gloating over his presumption that taxes will be going up on the top 2%, Schultz sent this warm 'n fuzzy message to John Boehner: "think about it over your turkey and stuffing Speaker Boehner. And by the way, you can put some gravy on that--and you know the rest of the sentence." View the video here.

The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. • Setbacks and Squabbles in Russia’s Foreign Policy

The Kremlin is moving from confusion to controversy in international affairs, a policy area which used to boost Russia’s “great power” status and bring joy to its leaders. Moscow cannot formulate a coherent position on the eruption of violence in the Gaza “black hole,” and the attempt of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to explain Russia’s position on the Syrian civil war to the Gulf Cooperation Council was rebuffed so undiplomatically that he refused to stay for the scheduled dinner (Rossiyskaya Gazeta, November 16). Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev sought to add a warm touch to his business-like visit to Finland on...
