Republicans are seeking to drive a wedge into an issue that’s already emerging as a highly sensitive one in the Democratic platform: Israel. The latest salvo will come from the Republican Jewish Coalition this week, as the group—which is home to some of the biggest donors in GOP politics—launches an online advertising campaign attacking members of the Democratic National Committee’s platform drafting committee. The RJC plan, first shared with POLITICO, comes as Democrats are already grappling with the possibility that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will emerge as a major flashpoint at their national convention next month, given the sharp disagreements some...

TWIN FALLS | Authorities are denying reports that Syrians gang-raped a child at knife-point in a Twin Falls apartment complex earlier this month, saying the false claims are being spread to incite anti-refugee sentiments. “There were no Syrians involved, there was no knife involved, there was no gang-rape,” Twin Falls County Prosecutor Grant Loebs said Monday morning. ..... Loebs said he didn’t want to “fan the flames of anti-Syrian refugee people” and suspects the rumors swirling around the Internet that the boys were Syrian is the work of a local group opposed to refugee resettlement. “There is a small group...

A partial federal ban on gay men donating blood is "discriminatory" and hurtful in that it turned away potential donors after the June 12 massacre that killed 49 men and women at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, 24 U.S. Senators said in a letter Monday. Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., were among 23 Democrats and one Republican -- Sen. Mark Kirk, R-Illinois -- who signed the letter to U.S. Food and Drug Administration commissioner Dr. Robert Califf. ... "Yet, some of those most touched by this tragedy -- members of the LGBT community, who are especially eager...

... Blood supply experts say the FDA will need to determine whether the move to a one-year waiting period for gay and bisexual men made the blood supply less, more or just as safe. That effort will take several years, and only then would the agency be able to consider relaxing its restrictions further, said Brian Custer, who has led a number of studies on the nation's blood supply and is associate director of the Blood Systems Research Institute (BSRI) in San Francisco. Removing the waiting period altogether would also likely require a large-scale study that tested blood samples of...

Idiotic: That’s the only word for the Obama administration’s move to scrub references to Islam or ISIS from the transcripts of Orlando terrorist Omar Mateen’s calls. Under an avalanche of ridicule, the Justice Department on Monday relented and released the full transcripts. But what was the point? Everyone already knew that he’d pledged allegiance to ISIS and its “caliph.”

It’s like clockwork. Sick, twisted clockwork. A mass shooting happens. There is a flurry of confusing reports. A death toll is announced, a shooter identified. And then, even before the crime scene is cleaned up, come the pleas for gun control. But you already know how this will play out. Gun-control advocates and their allies in the media will attack the gun-rights crowd as cold-hearted, stubborn, and out of touch. They will complain that no new legislation will result from the tragedy, and they will be right. There are many reasons that this cycle repeats as it does. We live...

Anti-Trump protester Michael Sandford was arrested Saturday at Donald Trump’s Las Vegas rally at the Treasure Island Hotel and Casino. Sandford tried to grab a cop’s gun..... A federal officer says a man arrested at a Donald Trump rally in Las Vegas told authorities he tried to grab an officer’s gun so he could kill the candidate. A complaint filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Nevada charges Michael Steven Sandford with an act of violence on restricted grounds. It cites a report by Special Agent Swierkowski, whose first name was not included, saying Sandford told officers he drove from...

The Senate is invoking a cloture vote on amendments offered by Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Chris Murphy (D-CT) that would expand background checks and permit the attorney general to prevent anyone with a "reasonable belief" of having terrorist ties from purchasing firearms. These legislative measures come after the horrific Orlando attack, where 49 people were shot and killed by Omar Mateen, who pledged allegiance to ISIS during the attack. It's the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.Last week, Sen. Murphy launched a 15-hour filibuster, holding up a spending bill to fund the Department of Justice until a agreement could be reached to hold...

The campaign to keep Britain in the European Union appeared to regain the upper hand on Monday, putting the pound on track for its biggest one-day gain in more than seven years and buoying the UK stock market. Campaigning for the June 23 referendum resumed on Sunday after a three-day suspension following the killing of lawmaker Jo Cox, and three opinion polls at the weekend showed the "Remain" camp gaining momentum. Sterling rose by as much as 2.4 percent against the dollar on Monday, heading for its biggest one-day rise since December 2008, while Britain's FTSE-100 shares index jumped 3...

Apple CEO Tim Cook will host a fundraiser with House Speaker Paul Ryan next week as the iPhone maker tries to strengthen its relationships with key Republicans — despite its decision to pull support for the GOP convention because of its distaste for Donald Trump. Cook will help generate cash for Ryan at a private breakfast on June 28 in Menlo Park, Calif., along with Gary Wipfler, the company’s treasurer, according to an invite obtained by POLITICO on Monday. The money benefits not only the speaker but a joint fundraising committee aimed at helping to elect other House Republicans. Cook...

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: It has been reported now that what the New York Times originally said about Lewandowski being canned is not entirely accurate. John Roberts at Fox is reporting that the Lewandowski firing was due to an ultimatum from Paul Manafort. Apparently Manafort... This is according to Fox News. Manafort told Trump it's either fire Lewandowski within 48 hours or he, Manafort, would quit, and that Ivanka, Eric Trump, and Donald Trump Jr. came down on the side of keeping Manafort. Now, the original report the New York Times when they broke the story said that the Trump campaign...

NEAR FALFURRIAS — The sun blazed Tuesday afternoon as Eddie Canales and Anna Ibarra of the South Texas Human Rights Center took turns striking a three-foot metal rod into the ground with a sledge hammer for the first of 12 new water stations. “Today is important for us because this is the first time we are allowed to set these stations up in this particular ranch,” said Canales, who allowed The Monitor to ride along with him on the condition the name of the ranch was not disclosed. As the heat index climbed to over 110 degrees, Canales, 68, and...

It’s not unusual to wipe out when riding your bike on a mountain trial, but when a bear causes you to crash, that’s a different story. According to Davis Souza’s post on Instagram, he was biking near Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada mountain range June 14 when he crossed the bath of what looks like a black bear.

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: I saw a bunch of friends I haven't seen in almost a year out on the golf course -- both days, Saturday or Sunday -- in Los Angeles. And without exception, they're all for Trump. They're all Republicans; they're all getting worried that Trump's blowing it, and they wish he weren't. I heard once, I heard twice, three times or four times, "Why, Rush? "When the inspector general report came out pretty much just nailing Hillary to the wall on these emails and stuff, why was Trump off still talking about the Mexican judge? Why didn't Trump...
