House Republicans will vote on an amendment to eliminate the exemption for Congress and their staff members from changes to Obamacare. The amendment, H.R. 2192, would eliminate an exemption for changes to Obamacare regulations that impact health insurance premiums and coverage. The proposed amendment would allow states to obtain waivers to repeal Obamacare regulations such as essential health benefits and community ratings. Congresswoman Martha McSally (R-AZ) sponsored H.R. 2192, which has 83 cosponsors—all of them Republican. House Republicans look to attach the amendment to the American Health Care Act as part of their Obamacare repeal package. Obamacare required that Congressmen...

House Republicans voted today to approve a bill that would defund to Planned Parenthood abortion business. This was the second attempt to get enough votes on the reconciliation bill that would not only defund the nation’s biggest abortion corporation but also repeal major portions of Obamacare. The first attempt to pass the bill saw liberal Republicans oppose the repealing Obamacare portion and conservative Republicans not happy as well because it did not repeal Obamacare fully. Republican leaders reworked the legislation, called the American Health Care Act, and Republicans passed the measure today despite Democrat objections. The House voted 217-212 for...

The Senate has passed a $1 trillion omnibus spending bill that would keep the government running until September, with a vote of 79-18. The House passed the bill Wednesday in a 309-118 vote, with four members abstaining. The spending bill will now head to President Trump’s desk. Last Friday, Congress passed a short-term measure funding the government for one more week, giving lawmakers additional time to tie up loose ends. The resulting deal, reached late Sunday night, includes a $15 billion boost in funding for the military. The spending bill also contains $1.5 billion for border security. However, it leaves...

A U.S. district judge last week ordered California state prison officials to provide free chest-flattening underwear, also known as compression tops, to transgender inmates at women's prisons and feminine accessories to transgender inmates at men's prisons. Requiring inmates to buy compression tops "effectively" denies those items to individuals who cannot afford them, according to U.S. District Judge Jon Tigar, who issued the order on Friday. Taxpayers, therefore, must foot the bill.

Two GOP legislators are introducing legislation to let states annually import 500,000 foreign blue-collar workers and white-collar professionals to replace Americans who have fallen out of the workforce and into drug addiction. The American replacement bill is needed because companies can’t hire the employees they want amid the massive decline in the number of Americans who are seeking work, Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson told an event hosted Wednesday by the CATO Institute.

The U.S. House of Representatives approved a bill on Thursday to repeal major parts of Obamacare and replace it with a Republican healthcare plan, handing President Donald Trump his biggest legislative victory but setting up a tough fight in the Senate. With the 217-213 vote, Republicans obtained just enough support to push the legislation through the House, sending it to the Senate for consideration. No Democrats voted for the bill. The bill's passage represented a vital step toward fulfilling a top Trump campaign pledge and a seven-year Republican quest to dismantle Democratic former President Barack Obama's signature healthcare law. But...

Out of touch special interests are manipulating government to their own benefit at the expense of average Americans. This popular sentiment has been leveled at politicians, lobbyists, and big businesses — and many of them are guilty — but there is one culprit in Washington taking advantage of the working-class that is too often ignored: government unions. A new report from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office confirms that federal government bureaucrats are compensated more generously than average Americans in the private sector, the people who actually fund government. Worse yet, the discrepancy is largest for workers at the lower end...
