Holder: Concerned Barr is acting as Trump's lawyer, not attorney general Former Attorney General Eric Holder told Fox News on Tuesday that current Attorney General Bill Barr "is paying a price" and sacrificing his credibility by spearheading U.S. Attorney John Durham's ongoing probe into possible misconduct by the intelligence community at the outset of the Russia investigation. Holder also remarked separately that it was a "reality" that Republicans will "cheat" in the 2020 elections by trying to "move polling places" and "a whole variety of things" -- prompting Republicans to dismiss his "outlandish and baseless accusations." Holder's comments came a...

Vatican police raided the offices of the Holy See's Secretariat of State and its Financial Information Authority, or AIF, on Tuesday and took away documents and electronic devices as part of an investigation of suspected financial irregularities, a Vatican statement said. It was believed to be the first time the two departments were searched for evidence involving alleged financial crimes. The Secretariat of State, the most powerful department in the Vatican, is the nerve center of its bureaucracy and diplomacy and the administrative heart of the worldwide Catholic Church. The AIF, headed by Swiss lawyer Rene Bruelhart, is the financial...

The Oversight Subcommittee of the House Ways and Means Committee was holding a hearing on How the Tax Code Subsidizes Hate. Its theme was removing tax-exempt status from groups it didn’t like. DEMOCRATS ON OVERSIGHT APPEARED TO BE PROPOSING TO PUT THE SPLC AND ITS SPURIOUS HATE LISTS AND MAPS IN CHARGE OF TAX-EXEMPT STATUS The Democrats running it didn’t issue a full list of allegedly discriminatory groups they wanted the government to discriminate against, but the Committee’s Twitter list of ‘hate groups’seem to overlap with a list assembled by the Southern Poverty Law Center and curated by Philanthropy Magazine....

... House Democrats, of course, are free to impeach over any charge that can win a majority, including a claim Mr. Trump sought foreign interference in the 2020 election. But they didn’t bargain on the Russia-collusion fiasco forcing its way into the drama they are trying to create. Even a daily email blast from the Trump-unfriendly Columbia Journalism Review acknowledges that the “Trump-Ukraine story, it’s safe to say, is now about much more than Trump and Ukraine.” Democrats were going to face powerful counterarguments anyway: The U.S. media itself had raised questions about Mr. Biden; Mr. Trump had merely asked...

There will be no candy or costumes on Halloween at an elementary school in Evanston this year. Lincoln Elementary School, located at 910 Forest Avenue, has canceled its Halloween celebration during the school day. According to the Chicago Tribune, the school said it wants to be inclusive of all students and avoid celebrating a cultural holiday during the school day that some students don't celebrate because of religious reasons. "While we recognize that Halloween is a fun tradition for many families, it is not a holiday that is celebrated by all members of our school community and for various reasons. There...

... The press is portraying Monday’s news as a plot to “discredit” former special counsel Robert Mueller. But the Mueller probe is over. The former special counsel chose not to investigate the Russian origin story and he never publicly explained his reasons. Yet there are many unanswered questions that deserve investigation because laws may have been broken. It is routine for U.S. prosecutors to seek help from foreign counterparts in such cases. Note the double standard at work here. Democrats and most of the press corps want to impeach Mr. Trump for inviting foreign help to investigate Joe Biden and...

An accused child rapist is on the run after being released from the Cumberland County Jail before ICE was able to take him into custody, but local authorities said they were following a judge's order. Some fear a feud between the state and the federal government could be putting public safety at risk. Leaders of Cumberland County are standing firm, saying the staff at the jail did everything right by following a judge's order to release accused rapist, Luciano Trejo-Dominguez last month. ICE officials blasted agencies on the local level last week over the release of inmates. "This isn't a...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - With 86-year-old liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg enduring a series of health scares, the question of whether President Donald Trump will get to make yet another U.S. Supreme Court appointment before the 2020 election lingers as the nine justices prepare to begin their new term next week.

A county police department in Virginia announced Tuesday that one of their officers was suspended for turning an illegal alien over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after determining the individual had dodged a deportation hearing. Fairfax County Police Chief Edwin C. Roessler Jr. said the officer in question had a “lapse in judgment” when he called ICE about the illegal alien. “This is an unfortunate issue where the officer was confused,” Roessler said. “We have trained on this issue a lot. This is the first time we’ve had a lapse in judgment, and the officer is being punished.” The officer reportedly...

"I dare you... Hold up the textbook in front of the camera and show them a picture of what 10-year-olds are going to be asked to see." That was Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers's (R) challenge to reporters, when they asked him about his fierce response to the radical Left's sex ed. He pointed to a book, called It's Perfectly Normal, that isn't normal at all -- unless you're one of those rare individuals who think teaching anal sex to five-year-olds is a good idea. Arizona State Superintendent Kathy Hoffman's (D), Twitter profile shows a picture of the new officeholder...

The United States plans to admit a maximum of 18,000 refugees in the upcoming fiscal year, down from a cap of 30,000 this year, under a new refugee admissions ceiling set by the Trump administration. This would be the lowest number of refugees resettled by the U.S. in a single year since 1980, when Congress created the nation’s refugee resettlement program. Even before the administration’s announcement, refugee resettlement in the U.S. had dropped to historic lows during Trump’s presidency, according to a Pew Research Center analysis of State Department data. As a result, the U.S. is no longer the world’s...

And here’s what’s going to happen in Los Angeles. Instead of local polling places that are open only on Election Day, there will be 1,000 Vote Centers that will be open for 11 days. Registered voters will be able to vote at any Vote Center just by walking in and giving their name and address. They’ll be able to change their address, or their party preference, or their preference for by-mail or in-person voting. They’ll be able to request a new ballot. And they’ll be able to vote the same day that they make any of these changes. No identification...

A former police chief in New Jersey who is on trial on a federal hate-crime charge after he allegedly slammed a black teenager’s head into a doorjamb, once called President Trump “the last hope for white people,” according to a recording recently played for jurors. In the 2016 recording, which federal officials shared with The New York Times, Frank Nucera Jr., the former chief, can be heard saying that Mr. Trump was the last hope because “Hillary will give it to all the minorities to get a vote. That’s the truth! I’m telling you.” The Trump comment was surreptitiously recorded...

Mark Zuckerberg and Elizabeth Warren are clashing over her plan to break up the tech titans — a war of words that could test the limits of Silicon Valley’s liberal leanings. The Facebook CEO was caught railing against Warren and her proposal to smash the internet’s virtual monopolies — Facebook, Google, Amazon and Apple — in leaked audio of open meetings with employees this summer released Tuesday by The Verge. “You have someone like Elizabeth Warren who thinks that the right answer is to break up the companies … if she gets elected president, then I would bet that we...

The Biden (and now Kerry) scandal in the Ukraine is much more than about the money paid to Hunter Biden for being a Board member at the largest gas producer in the Ukraine, Burisma Holdings. The real scandal involves billions in funds from the IMF and US in aid that has gone missing. Burisma (UkraineÂ’s largest oil and gas provider) has been the subject of many recent news articles because of its scandalous close-knit ties with President ObamaÂ’s Vice President Biden and Secretary of State Kerry. (Yes, Kerry is involved here too) A controlling shareholder of Burisma is believed to...

CHICAGO (WLS) -- There could be a potential conflict of interest involving Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx and the special prosecutor investigating her office's handling of the Jussie Smollett case. Court documents show a $1,000 donation was made in Dan Webb's name, to Foxx's campaign in 2016. Webb's law firm hosted a fundraiser for Foxx, but he says he does not recall making the donation.

Jussie Smollett hit back at a social media user who compared his alleged hate crime hoax to a 12-year-old girl who recently admitted she made up a story about how her dreadlocks were cut off by her white schoolmates. “With all due respect brother, y’all can clown me all you want but my story has actually never changed and I haven’t lied about a thing,” Smollett, 37, responded on social media.
