A former Republican senator from New Hampshire says Nikki Haley should visit the early-primary state as soon as possible to explore a 2020 challenge against President Trump. “After four years of Donald Trump, America will want a president of sound mind and dignified presidential bearing," former Sen. Gordon Humphrey told the Washington Examiner. Haley announced her resignation as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations on Tuesday. She opposed Trump in 2016, contributing to suspicion about her departure, which will take effect later this year.

The U.N. agency that helps Palestinian refugees expressed concern on Friday over moves by the mayor of Jerusalem to close down its operations in the city. Mayor Nir Barkat said on Thursday he had developed a plan to end the Jerusalem operations of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which aids Palestinians displaced by the 1948 war of Israel’s founding and to millions of their descendants, and to replace them with Israeli services. UNRWA has faced a financial crisis since the United States in August announced it was cutting aid to the body, calling it an “irredeemably flawed...

Senator Markey has announced his support for the Iran deal that will let the terrorist regime inspect its own Parchin nuclear weapons research site, conduct uranium enrichment, build advanced centrifuges, buy ballistic missiles, fund terrorism and have a near zero breakout time to a nuclear bomb. There was no surprise there. Markey had topped the list of candidates supported by the Iran Lobby. And the Iranian American Political Action Committee (IAPAC) had maxed out its contributions to his campaign. After more fake suspense, Al Franken, another IAPAC backed politician who also benefited from Iran Lobby money, came out for the...

One of the unintended consequences of the noisy, national debate over Judge Brett Kavanaugh is the impact it’s having on elections taking place far from Washington, DC. And for Molly Kelly’s gubernatorial campaign, those consequences are, surprisingly, not good. On paper, an issue that energizes the Democratic base and women voters—the two key targets of the Kelly campaign—would seem like a good thing. Every New Hampshire Democrat who decides they’re going to cast an anti-GOP protest vote this November is a vote for Molly Kelly. That’s the good news... The bad news is that Molly Kelly already had those votes...

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) said Monday evening that he sometimes feels like he doesn't belong to a political party. “I sometimes feel like a man temporarily without a party,” he said during a speech at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College, according to The Washington Post. Flake also criticized his party during the speech, saying members of the GOP have "given in to the terrible tribal impulse that first mistakes our opponents for our enemies." “And then we become seized with the conviction that we must destroy that enemy," he said. Flake's speech came days after...

The Granite State had the third-lowest rate of violent crime in 2017 — 198.7 incidents per 100,000 residents — trailing only Vermont (165.8) and Maine (121). Violent crime was down slightly nationwide, and it was the second year in a row that New Hampshire’s rate decreased... That disparity has long been the case — without any clear explanation...

At first, Safiya Wazir couldn’t believe what she was hearing. A second later, it sunk in – after a long day on her feet, Wazir, a pregnant 27-year-old refugee from Afghanistan, defeated lifelong Heights resident and four-term District 17 state incumbent Rep. Dick Patten, overcoming an opponent who said her lack of experience and status as a refugee would hurt her campaign. Instead, Wazir said those very things – as well as her drive to connect with voters through doorknocking, thank-you notes and election reminders – buoyed her campaign. “They were very excited there was someone new running for the...

Former first lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Friday she didn't know what Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand "was trying to say" when she suggested this week former President Bill Clinton should have stepped down over his affair with Monica Lewinsky that tarnished his presidency. "I don't exactly know what she (Gillibrand) was trying to say," Clinton told host Rita Cosby on WABC Radio in an exclusive interview Friday while promoting her new book "What Happened." When asked if she could have been more supportive of women who claimed to have been sexually harassed by her husband, Clinton said each...
