Oregon employers cut a seasonally adjusted 2,400 jobs in October as they slashed hiring for a second straight month. Despite news that job growth has slowed to a halting pace, the state's monthly jobs report offered a silver lining: September's job loss wasn't nearly as steep as feared. Estimates last month showed the state shed 7,900 jobs. State officials this morning said the number is closer to 800, or about one-tenth of original estimates. The private and public education sectors saw the biggest upward revisions that month, according to the Oregon Employment Department.

Obama won Oregon in 2008 by 16 points. This year his lead is down to just 6 points, per The Oregonian: President Barack Obama holds a relatively narrow lead of six points over Republican challenger Mitt Romney in Oregon, according to a new poll conducted for The Oregonian. Obama’s lead is considerably smaller than his margin of victory in Oregon four years ago and is a sign of how tight the presidential race has become across the nation…. Democratic officials continued to express optimism that Obama would win Oregon, which hasn’t gone for a Republican presidential candidate since 1984. But...

On Wednesday October 24th and Thursday October 25, 2012, The Hoffman Research Group surveyed a cross section of Oregon voters to ascertain voter preferences in the 2012 Presidential election. The resulting data found President Barack Obama currently leading Governor Mitt Romney by a 47% to 42% margin. When pushed, undecided voters broke toward Mitt Romney almost 2 to 1. The random sample of 615 Oregon voters surveyed 42% Democrats, 34% Republicans and 24% Unaffiliated voters. The statistical margin of error for this survey is plus or minus 3.9%. Attention was given to Oregon’s rural or urban divide and maintained appropriate...

OR poll---no details on "likely/registered" I could find---maybe you can. Obama up 50-41. No breakdown on D/R splits but this has to be horrible news for ZEro. Folks, I'll say this again: if he is barely polling 50% in places like CT and OR, he's toast.

President Barack Obama publicly thanked a man the New York Post called a “gay-porn kingpin” at an Oregon fundraiser on Tuesday, according to the Weekly Standard. While speaking at a Portland campaign fundraiser, Obama thanked Terry Bean for organizing the event. … The (New York) Post said (in 2008), "Bean, the first gay on Sen. Obama's National Finance Committee, is the sole trustee of the Charles M. Holmes Foundation, which owned Falcon Studios, Jock Studios, and Mustang Studios, the producers of about $10 million worth of all-male pornography a year." …

With all of his other competition out of the way, no one should be surprised how Mitt Romney stacks up against other Republicans in the Oregon primary, set for next Tuesday. A new SurveyUSA poll shows Romney with 58% of the vote, with Ron Paul in a distant second at 14%, which means that the May 15th primary will be as drama-free as possible. However, the poll also shows Romney within the margin of error against Barack Obama in the Democratic stronghold — and gaining: In a November match-up between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney for President of the United...

For the past 14 years, the re-election of U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden has been the closest thing to a sure bet in Oregon politics. The popular senator is back on the ballot this year, and while he's still an overwhelming favorite to win another term, Republican voters have a chance to nominate a serious challenger, Lewis & Clark law professor Jim Huffman.
