  • Automatic bookmark creation in Acrobat Professional (vanity)?

I just downloaded the 30 day free version of Acrobat Professional, because I want to create a PDF from a Word document. That document already has its own table of contents, which was built from headers that I inserted. I would like the PDF file to have its own table of contents (displayed via the two-pane window, in which I click on the table of contents entry and have the system take to the respective part of the PDF). However, when I read the documentation for Acrobat, it seems to say that the only to create PDF bookmarks is to...
  • How to create a PDF file that a person can type into (vanity)

I know that "regular" PDF files, when viewed via Acrobat Reader, are read-only and non-modifiable. However, I have worked with other files (I think they're also PDF) that allowed me to type onto them (specifically, allowed me to type onto specific fields of a form). I realize that I cannot save the changes, but being able to type onto the form then lets me print it out with my typing there. How is this capability achieved? Is it a function of the program that CREATES the PDF file, or that of the viewer, or both? Thanks.

Note that in the Newsweek story here http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4208768/, Newsweek reports that the 9/11 Commission is trying to obtain complete access to presidential daily briefs, or PDFs “dating back to 1998”. However, as established in my article here http://www.frontpagemag.com/articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=10324, Colonel Robert "Buzz" Patterson, who carried the “nuclear football” for President Clinton, wrote in his book last year that he saw a PDF to Clinton in 1996 discussing the Islamic terrorists’ plot to use commercial airliners as weapons. Assuming the Newsweek article is accurate, why isn’t the 9/11 Commission following up on this? Why isn’t the 9/11 Commission requesting access to the...

He said he was able to call up the document in its Adobe Acrobat format and, using software that allows editing of PDF documents, then highlighted the blacked out editing bars and deleted them. The original, unedited text then appeared.

  • Sudan calls for intifada volunteers

Military authorities in Sudan have issued a nationwide appeal for volunteers to report to specially set up camps and train to fight alongside Palestinians against Israel. The Popular Defence Forces (PDF) called for "all parties, institutions, trade unions, students and youths, men and women" to join the camps in a statement broadcast on state television and radio. The PDF announced the opening of the training camps on Saturday, saying they had been set up following a directive from President Omar Hassan al-Bashir as a sign of solidarity with the Palestinian people. It said the aim of the camps was...
