A neighbor says a woman tossed her baby to safety before dying in an early morning house fire in Salem. A man also died in Monday's blaze. Neighbor Terry Mercado tells Philadelphia's KYW-TV the young mother tossed the infant girl out a window to him. Mercado says he anded the infant to his wife, then ran to get a ladder. But by the time he had one, it was too hot to try to save the mother. Authorities say the baby and her grandmother are being treated for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
