A "food source" sickened nearly 100 restaurant patrons in Philadelphia last month, but city and state health officials say Pennsylvania law bars them from disclosing what the food was or how it was contaminated. Philly.com reported Friday ( http://bit.ly/1HQbZYs ) that dozens of lawyers and law students became sick after a Feb. 27 feast at Joy Tsin Lau in the city's Chinatown. Some said they were bedridden and others had to seek medical attention after becoming sick, but the owner said her restaurant didn't cause it.

City Council passed five gun control measures today that are expected to still face a legal challenges. Mayor Nutter has said he will sign the bills into law. The five bills limit handgun purchases to one a month; require lost or stolen firearms to be reported to police within 24 hours; forbid individuals under protection from abuse orders from possessing guns if ordered by the court; allow removal of firearms from "persons posing a risk of imminent personal injury" to themselves or others, as determined by a judge; and outlaw the possession and sale certain assault weapons. A neighbor says a woman tossed her baby to safety before dying in an early morning house fire in Salem. A man also died in Monday's blaze. Neighbor Terry Mercado tells Philadelphia's KYW-TV the young mother tossed the infant girl out a window to him. Mercado says he anded the infant to his wife, then ran to get a ladder. But by the time he had one, it was too hot to try to save the mother. Authorities say the baby and her grandmother are being treated for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
