Alright, silly question here, I admit. I've been an occasional lurker/poster on FR for close to four years now, and while I'm on several ping lists, I've never managed one. I was hoping to get a little advice on the logistics of getting one rolling. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry if this is a dumb thread, but I just thought I'd throw it out there--yesterday I started a Pakistan ping list, so far there are 2 members, and I thought I'd post this to let you all know in case anyone wanted to join. Given recent events, things are going to start heating up in Pakistan and there's probably gonna be a lot of news coming from over there. Just a heads-up...

It was three years in the making but the DUmmie FUnnies has FINALLY reached the MAGIC 1000!!! BIGGEST PING List on the FR! Congrats to Freeper decal for being #1000. Will now see about getting a shirt (black?) embroidered with the Li'l Beaver logo to send out to him. Hopefully he isn't a 5X size. It took only about 3 months to reach the first 500 PINGEES but the final 500 took nearly 3 years to reach the goal of 1000.

I've been on FR for a number of years as a lurker and just started writing contributions. One of my posts had users asking me or recommending me to set them up on a ping list. I am very new to this aspect of message boards and really don't understand what ping lists are, what they mean, what they do but have seen PING! as replies in several threads. So can anyone help this FR newb out with some technical and practical advice?

I am forming the WuzzaDem ping list and you can sign up for it here! WuzzaDem is a hilarious humor site run by a guy named John who also happens to be a member of Free Republic! I like feeling wanted, but over the past several months I've noticed I'm getting pinged for things that I don't know (and unfortunately don't really care) about. The only ping list I remember signing up for is PJ's DUmmie FUnnies. Most of the other stuff is interesting, and it's nice to be invited into conversations, I'm just wondering if this is a common occurance with FReepers...or am I just odd? And really most of this stuff didn't start until I started with DUmmie FUnnies... or maybe that's the only time I really started noticing it. Any answers? Thanks
