[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kERy_1r2LxQ] I noticed that Roger Waters, formerly of the iconic rock band Pink Floyd, has been publicly scolding a few fellow celebrities in the field of music and film for not sharing his fanatical anti-Israel political views. Specifically, Scarlett Johansson drew Waters' ire for filming some ads for the Israeli beverage maker SodaStream and classic rocker Neil Young, who ignored Waters' directive to not book concerts in Israel. Waters has chugged the kool aid of the 'Boycott, Sanctions and Divestment', (BDS) movement, which is in reality a political movement whose underlying mission is to portray Palestinians as victims of...

Former Pink Floyd front man Roger Waters, one of the more prominent celebrity faces of the boycott Israel movement, says he has contacted Scarlett Johansson “a couple of times” over the A-list actress’s decision to represent an Israeli company that operates in a West Bank settlement ... “In the past days I have written privately to Neil Young (once) and to Scarlett Johanson (a couple of times). Those letters will remain private,” he said. “Sadly, I have received no reply from either ..."

Anti-Israel musician Roger Waters is at it again. The former member of Pink Floyd, who has previously faced criticism for virulently anti-Israel statements and for using anti-Israel and anti-Jewish imagery in his shows, has compared Israel to Nazi Germany. The comments were made in an interview Waters gave Saturday to Frank Barat of the CounterPunch magazine. Waters was asked what he would tell artists who say that culture should not be boycotted and who choose to perform in Israel, to which he replied, “The situation in Israel/Palestine, with the occupation, the ethnic cleansing and the systematic racist apartheid Israeli regime...

One of America's greatest musical and artistic talents, Alicia Keys, has shown the kind of moral and artistic integrity that is so sadly lacking among some of her more excitable contemporaries, (not to say clichéd windbags unable to break free from fashionable anti-intellectual prejudice against the Jewish state). As the World Jewish Congress (WJC) is highlighting today, Ms Keys has refused to bow to pressure from characters such as Roger Waters, of Pink Floyd fame, and Alice Walker, a Pulitzer prize winning writer. In response to a call to boycott Israel by cancelling a July 4 concert in Tel Aviv,...

'Storm Thorgerson, whose album cover artwork includes Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon, has died aged 69, the band's management has confirmed. A childhood friend of the founding members of the band, he became their designer-in-chief, fashioning a string of eye-catching creations. Most-famously he designed the prism spreading a spectrum of colour across The Dark Side Of The Moon. His credits also include albums by Led Zeppelin, Peter Gabriel and Muse.'

This cartoon published in The Sunday Times (subscription-only) would be offensive at the best of times. That it has appeared on Holocaust Memorial Day is doubly so.Penned by Gerald Scarfe (the cartoonist behind Pink Floyd’s The Wall), the caption reads: “Israeli Elections… Will Cementing Peace Continue?â€A hideous looking PM Benjamin Netanyahu caricature builds a wall cemented with blood, crushing Palestinians including women and children.Israel’s security barrier (of which the vast majority is a fence and not a wall) is meant to protect Israeli civilians against Palestinian terrorism. In any case, the imagery of this cartoon amounts to a blood libel...

Hamas's de-facto Prime Minister in Gaza, Ismail Haniyeh, took advantage of an educational conference on Tuesday to attack Israel, Channel 10 News reported. "Israel is a cancerous tumor that must be removed and uprooted," Haniyeh was quoted as having said during an international conference on education. "The hand of the resistance and the jihad fighters has begun to uproot the tumor, and will work to end the occupation of Palestine as a whole. Allah willing, we will break the occupation," Haniyeh said in a speech which was heard by representatives from Egypt, Tunisia and Qatar. He called for Gazan teachers...

No budget, no debt reduction, no way to avoid the “fiscal cliff” that Congress created by not doing their job the last time around. Butt we have reached concurrence in both houses of Congress to remove the offensive word “lunatic” from federal law. Fortunately, they did NOT ban the use of the term “idiot” thereby leaving us with a useful and descriptive term to describe our legislators and their legislative efforts. So it is in their honor that I dedicate this weeks sing-along: Brain Damage: Pink Floyd The lunatic is on the grass The lunatic is on the grass ...

Convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky had a surprise waiting for him when he was sent to jail the first time, reports Andrew Strickler of The Daily. As soon as the lights went out at night, Sandusky's fellow inmates at the Centre County Correctional Facility serenaded him with a chorus from Pink Floyd's "The Wall": "Hey, teacher, leave those kids alone!" Similar humiliations are expected to continue now that Sandusky is back in jail having been convicted of the crimes. Jerry Sandusky is currently on suicide watch. He'll be sentenced in 90 days.

Pink Floyd star Roger Waters has reportedly stated that Britain should return the Falkland Islands, saying "Las Malvinas belong to Argentina". In an interview with Chilean television, Waters, who is on tour in South America, allegedly said he was "as ashamed as I possibly could be of our colonial past ... When we were out raping and plundering and stealing". The reported comments came as Argentina's industry minister called for all British imports to be banned as tensions escalate between the two countries ahead of the 30th anniversary of the Falklands conflict. A journalist for the Chilean TVN state channel...

"English" Alan Styles, a one-time member of the Sausalito anchor-out community and former roadie for the British rock band Pink Floyd, died Thursday of pneumonia at Marin General Hospital. He was 75. While his long hair, beard and giving manner made him a familiar figure around Sausalito, Mr. Styles was better known to millions as the voice on ''Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast," the track on Pink Floyd's 1970 album ''Atom Heart Mother." Born in Cambridge, England on Oct. 5, 1936, Mr. Styles became acquainted with David Gilmour during his youth. Gilmour would later become a guitarist and songwriter for Pink Floyd....

As if Pink Floyd fans didn’t have enough to celebrate this week, Roger Waters and David Gilmour reunited in London on Thursday night for a performance of The Wall‘s “Comfortably Numb”. The news was first revealed on Gilmour’s blog, which added that the performance “is most definitely a one-off; David is not repeating his special guest performance at a later occasion, I’m sorry to disappoint those of you with fingers crossed and tickets for later shows.” Don’t get too bummed out, though, as the performance was being filmed “so that it may be posted on various websites.”

Everyone knows that Israel is currently threatened by terrorist organizations such as Hamas and Hezbollah — both supported by the virulently anti-Israel Iranian regime. But what many do not know is that Israel is also under attack in a cultural war which seeks to destroy her by way of boycotts and divestments. The freest state in the Middle East is under attack from “peace activists,” pro-Palestinian organizations, professors and others who seek to starve Israel economically. But perhaps the most troubling trend in recent months is the popular entertainers who are refusing to perform in the only Jewish country in...

Mr Gilmour, a 21-year-old Cambridge student, was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and criminal damage after climbing the Cenotaph and swinging from a Union flag at the protests on Thursday. New pictures of Mr Gilmour show him lighting a pile of newspapers at the entrance to the Supreme Court. His attempt was foiled after fellow students alerted police about what he was doing.
