Canadian authorities announced Monday they have broken up an Al Qaeda-linked terror plot to attack a passenger train as it crossed over a bridge in the Toronto area. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said Monday that two suspects have been arrested on terrorism charges. Chiheb Esseghaier and Raed Jaser, who live in greater Montreal and Toronto -- were conspiring to carry out an Al Qaeda-supported attack against Via Rail, but posed no immediate threat to the public. "It was definitely in the planning stage but not imminent," RCMP chief superintendent Jennifer Strachan told reporters at a news conference. Read more:...

Washington, D.C. (February 20, 2011) -- Big screen Plasma HDTV were the big winners of this year's Super Bowl TV battle, according to The NPD Group. The research firm says unit sales of Plasma sets jumped 45 percent during the week leading up to this year's Super Bowl, which was played on February 6. (The increase is compared to last year's pre-Super Bowl week.) Actual revenue from Plasma set sales rose 11 percent this year compared to last year's Super Bowl week. In contrast, LCD unit sales rose just 1 percent for the 40-inch and above category, NPD reports. The...

  • California do-gooders want to ban flat screen TVs

We hate the media. You hate the media. But we love our TVs more than our wives. That’s why this story is so infuriating. California regulators want to ban the sale of plasma and LCD TVs because “they use too much energy.” The new rules could cost the state up to $130 million in sales and income taxes annually. So if the greens get their way, they’ll drive the state even further into the red. Sales of plasma and LCDs,..

Ever notice things the left likes are immune from CGWP (Causes Global Warming Panic)? So, Plasma TVs cause global warming. Well, Arugula causes global warming. Sure. Why not? It is a cultivated plant and as we know any agricultural activity — like any activity of man — causes global warming. It requires fertilizer, pesticides and water, which is made up of H2O and we all know that O is a main ingredient of CO2, with a capital C, which rhymes with G, which stands for Global Warming.

LAS VEGAS - A 150-inch high-definiton plasma TV unveiled by Panasonic is the world's largest to date, the Japanese consumer electronics company claimed Monday at the International Consumer Electronics Show. The plasma panel features an 8.84 million pixel image resolution. Its screen is the equivalent of nine 50-inch sets, with an effective viewing area of 11 feet, the company said. It's a step up from Panasonic's 103-inch version, which cost $70,000 when it launched. The company did not say in a news release how much the 150-inch panel will cost. Panasonic's other prototypes introduced at CES include a 42-inch panel...

A woman who was angry because her husband wanted her to turn up the heat pulled out a gun and shot their flat-screen TV while he cowered behind a pillow, Macomb County authorities say. The 65-year-old man called 911 Sunday night from the basement of their Washington Township home, about 25 miles north of Detroit. "My wife's got a gun. She's shooting at me," ... He told the operator that Cheryl Grucz, 61, was angry because he wanted the heat turned up. She fired a round while he hid his head in a pillow, striking the plasma TV, then went...

THE Conservatives will propose banning plasma screens and other energy-guzzling electrical goods in a report to be unveiled next week. The proposals target white goods like fridges and freezers, as well as TVs, personal computers and DVD players that use too much energy or operate on stand-by. The ideas come from a Conservative group set up by David Cameron to develop policies to protect the environment and although the measures to make household electrical appliances more energy efficient are not binding on Mr Cameron, they are thought likely to be warmly received by the Tory leader. The group will also...

I am posting this out of concern for those who may not know btter, and who may had been "fooled" by all of the hype out there. DO NOT buy a plasma tv(which should be called a "fluorescent tv" anyway, due to the way it operates). These things are NOT holding up very well. This is NOT my opinoin, but info gathered from discussions with other techs around the country. They are getting problems ranging from blown power supply and driver boards(about a $500-1,000+ repair, ) to the PDP or plasma cell needing replaced(2500+, IOW, a loss). within a year...
