On Jackson's Island, Huck Finn found peace in nature: "I laid there in the grass and the cool shade thinking about things, and feeling rested and ruther comfortable and satisfied. " Beauty and trees in the modern Australian police state give me rest too. Connected deep In God's sweet call, When I pray, He saves me ......... God Bless Mark Twain, the joy of gazing at human beauty and being free.

Now that it is official that the US is a failed state (for failing to do anything about election fraud in either the 2020 election or 2022 midterms much like Venezuela), we need to look at asset classes out of the reach of The Federal Reserve and Federal regulation … for the moment. Major cryptocurrencies erased losses and turned higher after Binance Holdings Ltd.’s Chief Executive Officer Changpeng Zhao said the world’s largest digital-asset exchange plans to set up an industry recovery fund. Zhao said Monday the goal was to “reduce further cascading negative effects” of the bankruptcy of rival...

Country music legend Loretta Lynn has died at the age of 90. The 4-time Grammy winner — whose glittering career spanned six decades — passed away Tuesday at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. Her family confirmed the news in a statement provided to the Associated Press, but did not disclose a cause of death. Lynn — who was raised by a coal miner in rural Kentucky — became a worldwide sensation with her 1971 track “Coal Miner’s Daughter.” However, the singer-songwriter used her poverty-stricken Appalachian childhood as the basis for dozens of her other hit songs. The Country Music...

Here we go doom loop de loop? The dollar’s gain is the world’s pain — and based on its current trajectory, the world may be in for a whole lot more discomfort. But the move risks becoming a self-reinforcing feedback loop given that the vast majority of cross-border trade is still denominated in dollars, and a stronger US currency has historically translated into a broad hit to the world economy. With the Federal Reserve hiking interest rates at the fastest pace in decades, he says, it’s much less clear what could break the feedback loop in the next few months....

Help me out, fellow Bibliophiles! I read a delightful rhyming book to my kids about a British man who takes a vacation to the beach he keeps losing things along the way. One of the lines is, "Oh, well, what's done is done. I think I'll picnic in the sun." Part of the charm of this book is finding the places where these items were forgotten. For example, the umbrella was left on the bus and we see it in the window as the bus pulls away. CAN ANYONE TELL ME THE NAME OF THAT WONDERFUL BOOK?

Famed poem calls America 'heav'n rescued land' Many Americans have a startling lack of knowledge about their own national anthem. Studies in recent years show 90 percent of children could not say what a national anthem was, never mind sing it. Neither could 80 percent of adults sing more than three lines.

The talk of a gasoline tax “holiday” out of Washington DC is pure Kabuki theater. It is purely a sign of the times with Biden still trying to blame Putin for rising gasoline prices and inflation and ignoring his anti-fossil fuel policies that helped drive energy prices AND inflation through the roof. Daily regular gasoline prices have dipped below $5.00 to $4.94 while diesel fuel, the lifeline of the shipping industry, rose slightly to $5.80. I guess the folks shipping food and other goods don’t get a holiday. Note that the implied Fed target rate has fallen a bit as...

Australia looks to America. Trump and DeSantis are modern heroes. Are Marilyn Monroe and JFK good freedom role models for an up and coming musician?

The poetic story of the taming of a herd of wild mountain horses lead by "the colt from old Regret" is an iconic piece of Australian heritage made in to the Kirk Douglas movie "The Man From Snowy River". But in the Socialist Left state of Victoria it is possible that these intelligent wild animals are being treated even worse that the human citizens. They are being slaughtered, often left to die horrible deaths alone in the bush where no one can see what is happening. Decent loving country people like Tanya Prior protested this yesterday on the steps of...

Hearing Hank Williams made Bob Dylan start writing songs. In Hanks recordings, Dylan, as a child, found "the archetype rules of poetic songwriting." Will Hank the First ever get the only ever posthumous Nobel Prize he deserves? That might make a lot more sense than extending the boundaries of the North Atlantic to Moscow's doorstep.

NASCAR apologized to the LGBTQ community on Wednesday, for so-caled "recent actions" that may not have "alligned" with the auto racing giant's "mission to be a welcoming sport for all." "As we celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, we acknowledge that recent actions have not alligned with NASCAR's mission to be a welcoming sport for all," the statement said. "We remain steadfast in our commitment to create a more inclusive environment – in our workplaces, at the race track & in the stands," the post concludes, along with along with a graphic featuring the so-called "progress" pride flag and a message wishing...

Some say it's sad that the flowers wither. I say it's a good thing. Flowers are a kind of reminder, a timer for our love. By the time they fade it's a reminder it's time to say "I love you" again.
