As we reflect on the historic vote in Scotland this week (all votes seem to be “historic” these days, don’t they? Might have more to do with news network ratings than actual history), we Americans find ourselves rather conflicted. On the one hand, we cheer for the idea of independence, a race memory of sorts that dates back to our own War for Independence over 230 years ago. We feel a special affinity for all members of the British Empire; we speak the same language, share the same customs, even enjoy many of the same television shows. Their heroes are...

Before the referendum on Scottish independence and in order to keep the United Kingdom from disintegrating, the leaders of the three main British parties - David Cameron, Nick Clegg and Ed Miliband - made generous promises in return for the Scottish people to vote No to breaking away from the Union. They promised more powers and money for Scotland. Some say that these promises have come dangerously close to Maximum devolution (Devo Max for short), which means that, except in defence and foreign affairs, the Scottish Parliament gets power over everything. A source of concern is that these promises...

The stink of nervous sweat must be filling the air in the rooms where House Democrats meet. It must be palpable. The conversations about what to do must be totally free-wheeling and without boundaries. Questions of integrity and true patriotism are likely being pushed aside. Survival and maintaining power are the only things that matter. Never one to be concerned about looking anti-American, the extremely self-absorbed Maxine Waters had a thought cross her malevolent mind: “Let’s suck up to the Islamists who are here to kill Americans!” Her latest attacks on America came at a recent meeting of the Council...

A 98 year-old prophecy is fulfilled. H.L. Mencken (born 1880 - died 1956) was a journalist, satirist, critic and registered Democrat. Mencken wrote the editorial below while working for the Baltimore Evening Sun, which appeared in the July 26,1920 edition. "As democracy is perfected, the office of the President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be occupied by a downright fool and complete narcissistic moron." - H.L. Mencken, the Baltimore Evening...

The question “Who started the Democrat Party?” is not an easy one to answer. We know Democrats say Thomas Jefferson because he was a member of the Democratic-Republican Party. Aside from the chronological problems with this claim – Jefferson was long out of active politics before the first actual Democrat president Andrew Jackson was elected- Jefferson stood for things that are exactly opposite of what Democrats have ever stood for. He disliked omnipotent central government and loathed an overly powerful judiciary. Clearly, the Democrat Party’s claims to have its roots in the legacy of the great Thomas Jefferson are preposterous....

Lies, chaos and distraction are his transformation strategies One of Obama’s favorite games is ‘shift the word and meaning’ game. It reflects his deepest beliefs that lies, chaos and distraction are transformation strategies that an emerging ‘star dictator’ needs. The game goes like this: Always lie to the masses, insert cheat cards throughout the deck without the players knowing and redefine what is really going on right in front of your ‘stupid’ opponent’s eyes. When the few who don’t accept or believe your trick, rise up in the first round of the game…you know nothing, deny everything, then throw your...

Yesterday, the Senate approved a bill to arm and train Syrian rebels, who fight against Bashar Assad, so they can eliminate ISIS, which possesses hundreds of millions of dollars, and no shortage of fighters willing to die for them. I fail to see the wisdom in this action, or what good can come of this. It appears cowardly, and even immoral to pay others to fight for you. The New York Times penned almost 1,800 words describing and analyzing this vote, and even got the tally wrong in the original version. Correction: September 18, 2014 An earlier version of this article...

A school district in the suburbs of Chicago has announced plans to rename two schools in honor of first lady Michelle Obama and President Barack Obama. The suburb is Park Forest, Ill., according to The SouthtownStar. The two schools, both located in Park Forest Chicago Heights School District 163, will be the Michelle Obama School of Technology and the Arts and the Barack Obama School of Leadership and STEM. (STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math.) The school to be named after Michelle Obama is currently called Forest Trail Middle School. The school named after President Obama is currently...

In a new report from CNN, televised live today, 110% of Scots have made their decision on independence, with 58% saying "yes," and 52% voting "no." This picture actually made it to the air: In case you can do math better than CNN's copy editor, that adds up to more than 100% of Scotland's populace. And as you also probably know, 110% of an electorate cannot vote on a referendum (unless there is massive voter fraud). The flub occurred during Brooke Baldwin's three o'clock show this afternoon, the 18th of September. When the mistake was made, nothing was said, and...

As the Republic slowly twists in the wind of the worst American Administration since George III, it is possible that even Team Obama's key kabuki players recognize that their front man, Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., (or II) has been in failure mode since the heady days of Admin I. But, what to do with an Admin II fool who now dangerously believes in the omnipotent legend created for him and thus believes himself free to act on his own, and perhaps even more dangerously, to ignore the basic responsibilities of the post, namely to show up? I am hoping that...

Writing for his column in New York Catholic, Cardinal Timothy Dolan complains that he is receiving much criticism for deciding to serve as Grand Marshall in next year's St. Patrick's Day parade which will feature homosexuals marching under their own banner. The Cardinal writes, I haven’t been in this much hot water since I made the comment, right after I arrived as your archbishop five-and-a-half years ago, that Stan Musial—my boyhood hero of my hometown St. Louis Cardinals—was a much better ballplayer than Joe DiMaggio! Now I’m getting as much fiery mail and public criticism over my decision to accept...

Damn. They figured it out. Given that she manages to embarrass Democrats every time she opens her mouth, it’s not surprising that I’ve come to love DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. No matter what the topic, regardless of how unpopular her party’s policies are, she can be counted on to spew the craziest, most inane bunch of lunacy you’ve ever heard. Whether it was her “I meant to do that” response to losing a projected win in Florida, her constant insistence that Dems love and are running on the extreme popularity of ObamaCare, or her doomed attempt to relaunch the...

Final curtain. I don’t know how to break this one to you. There was a chance, my friends - a fleeting chance - for the creative community to capture the hearts of the nation concerning the true greatest threat to humanity. A theater company was on board. Taxpayer money was committed. The inevitable nationwide enthusiasm for the production would surely turn us all into activists for whatever action Democrats deem necessary to deal with global warming. New taxes. New federal controls on industry. A treaty empowering the United Nations to shut down our factories on the hint of carbon levels...

Obama speaking about “no boots on the ground”, turning the sacrifice of our heroes into a cliché is a matter formerly called: “Grasping at straws” grasping at straws: to depend on something that is useless; to make a futile attempt at something. 2. trying to find some way to succeed when nothing you choose is likely to work 3. trying to find reasons to feel hopeful about a bad situation Free Dictionary by Farlex Sawgrass (Cladium jamaicense) isn’t a “true” grass. It’s a member of the sedge family, characterized by sharp teeth along the edges of each blade. Obama is...

I wish Hillary Clinton would simply go away and permit a serious election to occur Other than earning her law degree, name one thing that Hillary Clinton has accomplished on her own. Her accomplishments—slim as they are—have been achieved on the coattails of either Bill Clinton or Barack Obama. Had she not been the First Lady, would anyone have ever heard of her in the context of high power political posts? The short answer is no. She had traded on her celebrity and name recognition to become a Senator from New York and then, after a failed bid to become...

British Intelligence agency MI 5 said that they believe that they know the identity of the so called Jihadi John, the man captured on video beheading three Western men for crimes against ISIS. MI 5 is keeping the details under wraps and says that they are waiting to gather more solid intelligence before they any possible retaliation. After beheading another journalist, Steven Sotloff, ISIS is threatening to continue executing Westerners they hold captive. The execution was performed by 'Jihadi John' who spoke with a London accent. This brings home the danger facing western countries with the growing number of Muslim...
