Despite mixed reviews from his debate performances, Rick Perry continues to lead the GOP field. Amassing over 30% of the vote Perry took the September Townhall and HotAir Republican Straw Poll. Ron Paul's support stayed steady, taking 2nd place for the 5th time since we began polling in January. He has won the straw poll three times. Sarah Palin has also won the poll three times, but not since March. Herman Cain finally stopped his slide, gaining slightly this month. Michele Bachmann lost support for the 2nd straight month. After peaking at 13.6% she has lost over half of her...

There’s plenty we don’t know about this volatile 2012 presidential race, but three days of campaigning in Florida by the Republican contenders and Saturday’s stunning Presidency 5 straw poll result clarified quite a bit. Here are 10 things we learned about the Republican Party and its field of presidential candidates:
-
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows that 20% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-three percent (43%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -23 (see trends). Data for this update is collected via nightly interviews and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. As a result, most of the interviews for this update were completed before the president’s speech on Thursday night. Check out our review of last week’s key polls to see “What They Told Us.” snip The Presidential...

All of the GOP Presidential candidates should agree amongst themselves in a historic pact that whoever wins the election (replacing Zero) will bring each and every other GOP candidate into the new administration. Everyone of them has something positive to offer to our country and we definitely need all of their collective talents to clean up the mess we are in. They can start by eliminating entire agencies like the EPA, the Dept. of Education, etc.

I spend a good deal of time on the FreeRepublic website, America’s premier gathering place for conservative activists. A healthy cross-section of America’s modern day “Minutemen” bivouac here regularly to share and discuss the daily news items which most greatly affect our constitutional Republic. We were just discussing Sarah Palin’s newest Facebook message regarding Jimmy Hoffa’s disgusting profanity yesterday where he addressed union members with this distinctly un-American reference to The TEA Party: “Let’s take these sons of bitches out!” It wasn’t that long ago that Democrats including president Obama were calling for a more civil form of discourse throughout...

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 23% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-four percent (44%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -21 (see trends). Just 29% give the president good or excellent marks for his handling of the economy. That’s a new low following two weeks at 30%. Sixty-five percent (65%) trust their own judgment on economic issues more than President Obama’s. Not surprisingly, the economy remains the most important issue for voters. Fifty percent (50%) of voters...

That matches the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for President Obama, a level previously reached just once last September.

Media: Talk about the elite lagging behind a more sophisticated public. Newsweek, trying to overcome its slide into obscurity, thought it could grab attention by smearing Tea Party favorite Michele Bachmann. Big mistake. The smear came in the form of this week's cover story, which tried unconvincingly to depict GOP presidential candidate and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann as "The Queen of Rage," with a cover shot that made her look maniacal. But if anything, Bachmann comes across as Thatcheresque in her unmovable opposition to more deficit spending. Question her opposition a journalist may do, but don't make it out as...

Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., a Tea Party darling, called on Obama to fire Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and quickly submit a plan to balance the budget, not just reduce deficits. “This president has destroyed the credit rating of the United States through his failed economic policies and his inability to control government spending by raising the debt ceiling,” she said. “President Obama is destroying the foundations of the U.S. economy one beam at a time.” S&P said the plan fell short of solving the country’s debt problem. President Obama met with Geithner in the Oval Office late Friday afternoon before...

Just a glimpse at the American flag can sway voters, even Democrats, toward more Republican voting behavior, attitudes and beliefs, a new two-year study says. The authors, from the University of Chicago, Cornell University and Hebrew University, say the research proves the American flag has a powerful effect on voters. "A single exposure to an American flag resulted in a significant increase in participants' Republican voting intentions, voting behavior, political beliefs, and implicit and explicit attitudes, with some effects lasting eight months," reads the study titled, "Long-Term Effects of U.S. Flag Exposure on Republicanism."

[snip] Just ask, ahem, President Obama. Seems the big guy lost a magnetic presidential seal that was affixed to the side of his limousine as he wrapped up a fundraising visit to Philly on Thursday. The seal flew off the side of the limo and whipped by motorists in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 76, where it was presumed lost . . . until shortly before noon yesterday. That's when a veteran Philadelphia police officer found the seal on the side of the highway, near the Montgomery Avenue exit, while he was assisting the driver of a disabled vehicle, said...

Rep. Michele Bachmann, stressing her Iowa roots and appealing directly to Tea Party voters, came out swinging Monday as she formally launched her campaign for president. Buoyed by a strong showing in several recent polls, the Minnesota congresswoman cast her campaign as the voice for "constitutional conservatives" looking for a government that lives within its means while giving the private sector the room to grow. She launched a broadside against President Obama for racking up too much debt while stimulating too little job growth and vowed to make him a "one-term president." "We cannot afford four more years of Barack...
