Jeffrey and Jermaine, a pair of black-and-white pit bull mix puppies from Philadelphia who rocked the animal rescue world with their story in mid-November, have settled into their new home together. The duo, now 8 months old, were rescued by Operation Ava after being picked up as strays by animal-control officers in early October. A new program in San Francisco will pair carefully selected dogs from shelters with panhandlers in an effort to steer the latter away from asking for money on the streets and keep the animals from being euthanized. Anderson, IN - Dennis Duane White, 46, has been formally charged with 15 felony counts of animal cruelty following the slaying of a mother dog and her eight puppies. Seperating puppies from their litter too early can turn them into aggressive dogs, say scientists. They are significantly more likely to display problematic behaviour as adults than those who stay for at least two months. This raises the risk that they will be abandoned by their owners. Researchers studied 140 dogs aged between 18 months and seven years. Half had been taken from the litter and adopted between the ages of 30 and 40 days, and half had been taken at 60 days. FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) A college student home for the summer came across a strange box in the middle of the road in the Florence, only to find two abandoned puppies. All of these dogs were rescued from being shot by the local reservation Animal Control(FWP) in Montana, so they are safe now. I am trying to help Rene and Anita find foster homes or even better yet forever homes for them. There are lots of puppies not pictured yet as they have a small "cough" that Rene wants a vet to take a look at first. Once she gets an OK from the vet, they will either be transferred to another rescue or to permanent homes if possible. The ones that say pregnant females on them have places to go...
