There aren't too many things that can brighten up a persons disposition better then seeing puppies frolicking about as they explore their surroundings. It usually doesn't take long for them to wear themselves out either. That's why one moment they can be chewing on each others ears, and the next moment be falling asleep as if they were a mechanical toy who's batteries have just died. It's also comical they way they will fall asleep in the middle of what ever it is they are doing, as if they suffer from some form of animal narcolepsy. Well with that...

The boy, whose name wasn’t released by the Sheriff’s Office, was treated at Tulane Medical Center after the incident in the 2200 block of Mehle Avenue in Arabi and has been released, St. Bernard Parish Chief Deputy Sheriff James Pohlmann said. According to Pohlmann, the boy was outside playing with his...

COLUMBIA, Ill. - The parents of an autistic child are suing a southwestern Illinois school district they say won't let the 5-year-old boy bring his certified service dog to school. Melissa and Chris Kalbfleisch (KAHLB'-flysh) filed the lawsuit Monday in Monroe County against Columbia Community School Unit 4. The couple seeks an injunction that would let their son, Carter, bring the 11-month-old dog to school under a state law the family says allows it.

This is obviously not a BIG issue considering all that's going on in the world. Still, with all that Obama is concerned with his image, I'd think he could hire a photographer who had a better eye. The portrait looks like one made by an amateur using photoshop! The composition is terrible. With the dog's head so close to the strong horizon line, it's painful to look at. The depth of field is awful. Who in their right mind would put this photograph out on purpose?

Oregon House Bill 2470 continues to gain momentum in the Oregon Legislature. The bill, which seeks to severely limit the responsible breeding of dogs via ownership limits and onerous operational requirements, has been assigned to the Senate Consumer Protection and Public Affairs Committee. The American Kennel Club and its Oregon Federation, the National Animal Interest Alliance, both strongly oppose HB 2470. It is imperative that all concerned responsible dog breeders and owners in Oregon contact their State Senator and the members of the Senate Consumer Protection and Public Affairs Committee and urge them to oppose HB 2470. The American Kennel...

Take someone emotionally uninvolved with you to see the puppy. Take someone who has no stake in the decision with you to see the puppy. Take a sibling, a parent or a friend. Give them veto power. If they say no to your buying that puppy, back away from the purchase. Take them aside and listen to why they are uncomfortable. Making a good decision to buy a puppy means putting aside emotions and looking at facts. Someone uninvolved can be a great help in doing just that. I have seen many people who are otherwise very rational become very...

This part is frightening: Dog wardens from the state showed up at Brown's Wolf Den kennel, repeatedly, for inspections. "I was cited for a piece of kibble on the floor and five strands of dog hair. They took a picture of that, they walked around, snapped pictures and don't tell you why," Brown told the newspaper. Are we hobby breeders supposed to hide?...

Never buy from a Pet Shop. If you buy a puppy from a Pet Store, you have missed the entire point of this site. You don't get to see the parents, you learn nothing about the conditions of the kennels, and you don't get to question the breeders. In short, you are supporting the Puppy Mill industry. PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS! See both parents of the puppy. If the breeders make any excuse for why you can't see both parents, walk away. One of the parents died, ran away, is sick, or is visiting his cousins in Albuquerque…..whatever excuse...

Fifteen minutes of fame turned into four months of bitter remorse for the Chester County woman who sold the Bidens their adorable little German shepherd puppy. Linda Brown's been investigated, scorned and had her life threatened. "I thought when Joe Biden bought a puppy from me, what an honor," Brown told the Daily Local News. "Out of millions of breeders in the country, in the world, he picked me." That was December. When the story got out, Brown faced backlash from pet lovers who thought the Bidens should have opted for a shelter over a breeder to find their new...

There is a great deal of debate about whether anyone should ever buy a dog or whether everyone should adopt one of the millions of dogs and puppies that are euthanized each year. It would be nice if people would be willing to adopt a pet from a pound, but most people are just not willing to do this.

He told Jay Leno the puppy he promised his daughters would be in place when he got back from a NATO summit in Europe. But Barack Obama has been back at the White House since Wednesday. So Mr. President ... where's the patter of little puppy paws? What we know so far, based on what Obama and his wife, Michelle, have said, is that the choice is down to either a Portuguese Water Dog or a Labradoodle. Michelle Obama also has said the dog is coming this month. Monday is the White House Easter Egg Roll on the South Lawn,...

As she was letting her dog out into her large, fenced yard in Enterprise on the evening of Nov. 19, Lori Lund was aware a wolf had been spotted around the community. She looked around the well-lit yard to make sure there was no wolf in sight. As she opened the door, her Maltese poodle - just a puppy - scooted past her and was instantly attacked by a wolf. The predator had been lying out of sight under a table next to the door. "I froze. I couldn't move," Lund said. "Once I realized what was happening, I pulled...

WASHINGTON: It popped out casually, a throwaway line as Barack Obama talked to reporters about finding the right puppy for his young daughters. But with just three offhand words in his first news conference as president-elect, Obama reminded everyone how thoroughly different his administration — and inevitably, the United States — will be. "Mutts like me." In American English, a mutt is a mixed breed dog. By now, almost every American knows that Obama's mother was white and his father black, which will make him the U.S.'s first African-American president. Still, there was something startling, and telling, about hearing his...

Barack Obama promised his girls - with all the warmth and sincerity of that glitzy media fanfare could produce - to get his girls a puppy. And then he went and brought home a vicious, rabid dog named Rahm Emanuel. I hope Obama's girls have all their shots. A Time article on Emanuel summed it up rather well: When Barack Obama asked Sen. Rahm Emanuel to be his White House chief-of-staff, few political insiders were surprised. The Chicago congressman and chairman of the House Democratic Caucus has been described in the past as a profane, hyperactive attack dog — and...
