State legislators in the Flathead Valley are — like the former governor himself — unsurprised by the Montana Republican Party’s public break up with Marc Racicot. The two-term Republican governor, who served from 1993 to 2001, earned a formal rebuke from the state party organization’s executive committee on Feb. 15. The decision comes after Racicot endorsed a series of Democrats in recent state and national elections, party leadership said. “It was a difference between party platforms and principles and I decided I would choose principles,” Racicot said last week. The former governor said he was unfazed by a text from...

Former Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Marc Racicot said this week that he would that he will not vote for President Trump in November. “I regret that I will cause consternation perhaps in some corners, but even as a Republican, I will not be supporting Donald Trump for president, and I will not be voting for him,” Racicot, who is also a former Republican governor of Montana, said during a Tuesday interview on Yellowstone Public Radio. “That means I will be voting for Joe Biden for president.” Racicot did not provide details about why he was choosing to endorse the...

Some people know how to make an entrance, while others specialize in exits. On December 6th, 17-year old Jackson Racicot posted a video titled, “How I quit my job today,” on Facebook. As of today, the video has been viewed nearly 300,000 times. The teen quit his job at the Walmart Grande Prairie Supercentre in Alberta, Canada, by reading a prepared speech into a store-wide intercom system, Insider reports. “Attention all shoppers, associates and management, I would like to say to all of you today that nobody should work here, ever,” he said over the speakers. “Our managers will make...

HELENA - Tom Ridge, the former and first head of the federal Department of Homeland Security, took after Democratic Senate candidate Jon Tester on Wednesday, saying his call to repeal the federal Patriot Act is "ludicrous." Ridge, who said he was asked by former Republican Montana Gov. Marc Racicot to share his views with Montana reporters, said Tester's recent call to repeal the Patriot Act is "unfathomable, almost inexplicable." Tester, a Big Sandy farmer and current president of the Montana Senate, is challenging U.S. Sen. Conrad Burns, R-Mont. In a debate with Burns in Butte on Saturday, Tester said he...

Montana Senate: Burns Burnt? March 21, 2006--Senator Conrad Burns is now lagging behind both potential Democratic opponents in the race for his Senate seat. In the latest Rasmussen Reports poll, Burns trails State Senate President Jon Tester 46% to 43%. In our last poll he was neck and neck with Tester. Burns trails State Auditor John Morrison 48% to 43%. In the rolling average of our last three polls, Tester leads Burns 46% to 45% and Morrison leads Burns 47% to 44%. Rumors abound that Senator Conrad will bow out and be replaced by either Congressman Denny Rehberg (thought to...

HELENA - Gov. Brian Schweitzer's populist message about the "stench" of politics emanating from Washington, D.C., has struck a nerve with Americans all over the country. Schweitzer, who dished on Washington politics with Lou Dobbs on CNN two weeks ago, railed against the cozy relationship between politicians and lobbyists, and told viewers that he has to wash the "stink" off every time he leaves the nation's capital. His candid remarks prompted Americans from around the country to send him e-mails of adoration. Schweitzer will be on Lou Dobbs' show again at 4 p.m. Thursday on CNN. "Here I am at...

In a letter to Congress, the Texas Democrats have accused former Montana Gov. Marc Racicot of illegal fund-raising, money laundering and endangering a Houston neighborhood. No proof accompanied their accusations. Party Chairman Charles Soechting sent the letter to the House Ethics Committee in July. He accused Mr. Racicot of putting together the alleged money-laundering scheme that has embroiled Speaker of the House Tom Delay’s Texans for a Republican Majority in scandal. The letter also accused Mr. Racicot of raising illegal corporate money for TRMPAC and of using his influence to obtain a right of way for a train that would...

HELENA - Marc Racicot, former chairman of the Republican National Committee and the chairman of President Bush's 2004 re-election campaign, said Wednesday he has no interest in being the next U.S. ambassador to Canada. Despite a number of news reports in Canada and the United States over the past two days describing the former Montana governor as the leading contender for the job, Racicot said in an interview he plans to continue as partner in a Washington, D.C., law firm. The ambassador's post is out of the question, he said. "I haven't talked to the White House about it and...

He is a smart and well-spoken, and young enough (56) to serve for several years with distinction. I don't know if he alienated democrats as the chair of the RNC, but I suspect he could be confirmed. My back-up selection would be Orrin Hatch, only because there is no way Arlen Specter would vote against him. But his age (70+?) limits his potential legacy. In the meantime, I hope Rehnquist has a speedy recovery and lives a long and fruitful life. Any thoughts?

Thank you all for joining. First of all I want to start with a declaration of the principles under which we operate in reference to issues of voter fraud, voter intimidation, and enfranchising virtually every American who has registered and wants to participate in the political process to be an effective voice in that process. Parenthetically, let me make note of the fact that we have worked very...

ARLINGTON, VA – Bush-Cheney '04 Campaign Chairman Gov. Marc Racicot today issued the following statement: "Today, John Kerry showed he lacks the judgment and credibility to lead the United States of America to victory in the War on Terror. "His attacks on the veracity of the Iraqi Prime Minister's historic address to Congress reveal a stunning propensity to take political cheap shots for his own benefit by denigrating our allies in this important struggle against a global terror network. President Bush is proud to stand with Prime Minister Allawi while John Kerry attacks progress and resolve and advocates a policy...

ARLINGTON, VA – Bush-Cheney ’04 Campaign Chairman Gov. Marc Racicot today issued the following statement: “Governor Shaheen’s flailing attacks in New Mexico are part of the Kerry campaign’s desperate effort to regain control in a state where one-fourth of Democrats now support the President’s positive agenda for a safer world and more hopeful America. Shaheen knows that Kerry’s out of the mainstream policies ignore the priorities of New Mexico voters – she even agreed with the President's thoughtful stand against the Clinton Roadless Rule and opposed Kerry’s extreme environmentalist position. “The Kerry campaign’s effort to talk down New Mexico’s growing...

ARLINGTON, VA – Bush-Cheney '04 Campaign Chairman Gov. Marc Racicot today issued the following statement: "Federal law requires that all organizations working for the election or defeat of a federal candidate operate under the same standards and rules. On March 31, 2004, Bush-Cheney '04 and the RNC filed a complaint against the Media Fund, ACT, MoveOn.org and other organizations for failing to operate under these rules. These organizations have now spent over $85 million in advertisements and other political activity to defeat President Bush, but they have refused to abide by the fundraising and spending limits. We have asked the...

ARLINGTON, VA -- Bush-Cheney '04 Campaign Chairman Gov. Marc Racicot today issued the following statement: "The moment of truth for John Kerry has come and gone hundreds of times, and he has passed up every opportunity to condemn efforts by his campaign and supporters to divide America by who served and how - something that John Kerry said we should never do when he declared during the 1992 campaign, 'We do not need to divide America over who served and how.' "President Bush stands with all Americans who want to see shadowy political activity removed from American politics. We call...

TO: Interested Parties FR: Marc Racicot, Chairman, Bush-Cheney '04 Ed Gillespie, Chairman, Republican National Committee DT: 7/29/04 RE: Preview of John Kerry's Acceptance Speech After 18 months on the campaign trail and more than $100 million in paid advertising, John Kerry's chief objective this evening will be to introduce himself to Americans. Again. We can expect John Kerry to deliver a well-crafted speech that pleases Democrats and attempts a pivot to more moderate rhetoric designed to appeal to independent voters. If his convention meets the historical standard for moving a challenger campaign in the polls, the Kerry-Edwards ticket will...

ARLINGTON, VA -- "I welcome Senator Edwards to the race as Senator Kerry’s running mate. Senator Edwards is a committed liberal and spirited messenger for his party in an election that will decide the course our nation takes in turning a recovery into prosperity for all Americans, and in the War on Terror. There will be vigorous debates about these issues in this election. "President Bush and Vice President Cheney have worked to create jobs, lower health care costs, reduce taxes on small businesses and improve education by making schools accountable to every child and parent in America. "President Bush...

"John Kerry's campaign trail amnesia is either a disconcerting departure from his record and votes or a willful effort to deceive the voters of America's heartland. When the Senator ranked most liberal in Congress says he represents 'conservative values,' when someone who supports the death tax says he's looking out for family farmers, when someone who gets an F from the NRA says he supports hunters, and when someone who votes against medical liability reform says he's going to lower health care costs, the American people need to think twice about whether they can trust a candidate who changes...
